i have consistently maintained he is the best rb in the nfl. the total package. a true 3 down back. they're a rarity you know.
other backs will make their splash for a little while, end up being a liability, while Zeke continues to do his thing at a top level year in and year out. Said this during his first year, and it only took me one preseason to go from a non-believer to 100% zeke train. People only look at some stat sheet and completely leave out all the finer details. There's no assessment to his game from some people, just numbers.

Things I've said in the past few seasons:

-Zeke is one cupcake away from being a fullback
-Explosion is gone
-Can't make dudes miss at the 2nd level
-All that mileage caught up to him
-This is why you don't pay RB's

But rookie Zeke is BACK. The initial burst, the explosion. It's there again. And I'm surprised as hell, because when RB's rack up the mileage and the burst starts to fade....it's usually downhill from there, but Zeke took this off-season seriously.

And something I've always given him credit for, but even more so now with all the injuries around the league (McCaffrey, Barkley, Mostert, Mack, etc..)

Dude is durable as hell. He's a tank.

Oh and he does this:

Sorry Zeke. Dude's worth every penny.

It's still shocking to me how everyone couldn't see that Zeke was plainly and simply out of shape last year. It was just so obvious.

When he came out of college everyone (draft analyst and yours truly) said he was the most complete back since Emmitt Smith as a runner, receiver, and blocker. He is not elusive as Smith, not as fast as Eric the Great, not as sweet as Sweetness, not as dominate as Jim but has that contact surge forward that Smith, Brown, Payton, and Dickerson had on the football field. In the second half that contact surge leads to +20 yard runs.

You have to want to block. Smith and Payton had the want to and the skills to block. Jim Brown did not want to block. Elliott has the want to and the how to as a runner, receiver, and blocker. It is very hard to get rid of an all around RB (see Frank Gore and Adrian Peterson). You can always use that type of RB in an offense.

I hope he is getting those massages after games that Emmitt did to prolong his career (he rushed for +900 yds, 9 TDs his last season). He will need it after the Seahawks game which I predict he is going to rush for way over 100 yards (if the Big M&M and Boy Genius give him the ball).
Nice post, except that AP doesn't even remotely belong in that category. He is/was noted for not blocking and for being a poor receiver. I'm actually curious as to why you would put him in this convo as a positive?

The question has never been whether or not Zeke is a great RB.

Instead, it is a question of resource allocation.
Is using a rare #4 overall pick on a RB wise? Is devoting such a large percentage of the salary cap to the RB position wise?

Yep, I'm on the list admittedly and said so in the game thread.

I do need to give him props for being in shape and running like he means it.

See the difference in certain people though when they are hungry w something to prove vs being happy collecting your check??

Hashtag number 90. Fat, slow, rich and happy.

Zeke haters will still hate him.
Nah not at all.

Always rooted for him. We need him badly.

Sometimes when you need someone to come through and they dont, and it looks like something that was within their control, it doesnt sit well.

The guy is the best player on the team when he is right, and I wish the offense would be more centered around him with winning TOP and ball control.

Btw if theres a player on this team that is playing harder than 21 this year I havent noticed

*Man ,I used to luv stalking the woods in the fall season during an all day drizzling rain, I could come up on bedded down whitetails almost within " clubbing range":)

Where have you been? This rag tag bunch haven't been the same since you went into hibernation.

i love stalking in the rain. the wet forest floor absorbs the sound of my walking. but here in west texas, the preferred method is rattling them in during the rut. another month and a half.

All true but I am not apologizing. It just proves we were right with our critique.

Which I knew I was right about lol.

I AM surprised he was able to turn it around though. VERY surprised. Hope it keeps up.

McCaffrey is going to miss multiple weeks, Barkley is out for the whole year, Bell is on IR, Gurley and Johnson are done

Zeke should actually get some high praise this year if he plays all 16 games. Love him or hate him he's been durable.

You add Tyron and La'el coming back and Zeke could easily get back on the all-pro team this year

This, that is why I always say, "the best ability is availability". That plays a part in a RB also.
