I've got one you can add to your list....Gout.

My Dad had this one time and all I knew about it was the Henry VIII's bout with Gout and the belief by some that led to his death. There were actually many contributing factors to his demise. And the connection to obesity and Gout has always resulted from his case. It also revolved around a hedonistic lifestyle with rich foods.

My Dad said it was the most pain he's ever been in and I doubted that after a bout with a very mild case about 18 months ago. I thought 'this ain't so bad'. I don't think that any longer.

It is a form of arthritis that happens when uremic crystals form in the joint(s) and I cannot even imagine the plural of that but the most common one is the joint where the big toe joins the foot and I would have loved to have sent it to market. It was twice it's normal size and looked sunburned.

One of the major contributing factors are purines found in some food like shellfish and organ meat but the worst is beer. I am not a big beer guy and I don't think my preference for whiskey should have given me a case like this but my water intake is going to be more closely monitored from here on out.

To make it worse, yesterday was my birthday and I got $50 worth of King crab legs that I had to put in the freezer and hope they make it.

I sat there watching that game and couldn't even get excited about it because any sudden movement and my toe would go "hey, CC, you goofy old fool, lover of the rich food n whiskey, TOE here, HOWDY!!!!!!!!" It was like being electrocuted and I have discovered the connection between the toe and the brain is even faster than the testicles.

To make it worse, I wasn't looking forward to this birthday or any of them and I sat there feeling my age and fight it as I may, I cannot fight the depression of growing old. Me buckos, I was a sad man yesterday and feeling a little too sorry for himself. I know, I shouldn't, there are those much worse off than me but when you're lower than a pregnant snake's belly in a wagon rut, that just doesn't work.

So, watch your intake of the naughty things and make sure you hydrate yourself well.

I've had gout for 15 years. I dealt with the flareups for about 2 years until finally I met an older guy who was racked with in and really couldn't walk anymore and I didn't want to end up like him. I have been taking Allopurinol and I haven't had a flareup since I've been taking it for 13 years.

Gave a like but hope you recover from your gout soon. I have high blood pressure but my 'biggest' ailment has been GERD over the past five or so years. Yes, I try watching what I eat but I am also hardheaded. Lansoprazole (e.g. Prevacid) is a godsend.

One of the strange side effects of losing your mind living with GERD and pigging out on naughty foods (and/or eating too late) are weird dreams. It is like my brain says, "Hey. Yeah you. Esophageal sphincter is sick and tired of you pissing off stomach. And I am annoyed with it yelling at me so here is what will happen.

You will soon see yourself driving to work like you always do in real life but your car will be traveling on an impossibly tall bridge. Suddenly, your car will swerve, break through the guard rail and start plummeting down into an ocean! Do not panic. There will be no crash. No. Out of nowhere your car will be grabbed by a flock of seagulls. Their tiny claw feet are strong! Amazingly they flap their wings effortlessly while flying both you and your car in the direction of the EDGE OF THE WORLD!!!

And that is just the start of a dream, which may have sequels before you wake up. Perhaps next time you will take yourself to sleep without eating those extra five slices of pizza, huh?

I swear. My brain hates me sometimes. :(:p

Any side effects to that?

I am on Metoprolol and one of the reported side effects is dreams. That's what I reported to my Cardiologist and she confirmed hearing that from other patients.

The dreams are weird because they're just like real life, no fantasy stuff or nightmares, most of the time I will be in a conversation with a group of people.

Oh man. I am right there with you. My doctor had me on Metoprolol before switching to losartan potassium/hydrochlorothiazide. My dreams got less weird afterwards lol.

Do you have diabetes? If not, you may consider getting your Hemoglobin A1c checked.

I started getting the sleepies back in May and June. My doctor drew blood and found my A1c was 5.7. Usual reference range is 4.8 to 5.6. 5.7 - 6.4 is in the Prediabetes range. Chances of diabetes kicking in increase if you body's A1c exceeds 6.4.

My mother had Type 2 diabetes, so it is in my family medical history. She dealt with it really well, usually only getting upset over fingersticks.. I want to avoid it or any other diabetes type if I can, so I really started watching what I eat, lol.

I was wondering why I hadn't seen any posts from you. Now I know, you type with your feet. Well dang, CC, I hope this bout goes away quickly and there are no more bouts with it in your future!

Have gout and take allopurinol daily. No flare ups since (about 3 years).
My biggest health nag is degenerative disk disease with spinal arthritis. The discomfort I am used to, but it makes golfing very difficult and that sux.

Shingles. extremely painful. Had it from the temple to around my eye. headaches, dizziness etc. Lightheaded for a good 6 months. Go get that vaccine if you had it or even if you didn't but had the chickenpox.

Tell you one I don't want: Crohn's

I have a couple of family members who have it and it's gotta be hell on earth.
No doubt, my wife has that and it sucks. I'm terrified of getting Diverticulitis. My Grandmother, Father, and older Brother all had surgery for that so it's obviously something that runs in our genetics. I won't eat anything with seeds in it because of that.

My main ailment these days is broken bones. I never broke anything until I was 40. In the last 8-9 years, I've broken my heel, my forefinger on my right hand, and absolutely destroyed my left shoulder (plates and screws). Last night, I got out of bed and tripped over the dog sleeping next to the bed and messed up my hand. Not sure if I broke anything but it's massively swollen and hurts like hell. Yes, I'm a clumsy fool.

But, how's the dog?
