Warning: Potentially Overly Positive Thread - Watch out for us when we gel

I am not worried about the offense at all. We will be fine there. But this defense is so bad. Bottom of the league bad. They do nothing well except suck. How do you suppose they gel?

Problem with the pass rush is there is no push up the middle. So they can just chip and help out on the ends. Nice clean pocket for the QB. And Wilson is going to destroy these DT's running past them.

Possibly, and that's where Poe needs to step up.

Hawks are a tough game for us, but there will be easier offenses after them for a while. Although we gave up a lot of points to the Falcons, much of that was the offense giving up the ball and field position. Some key guys started to play better. Poe. Jaylon. I'd say the arrow is up for the defense despite the score.

Agreed, we have an easier schedule for the next few weeks after Seattle to really gel better. Still, I think we can beat Seattle on Sunday. I think our offense is at least good enough to match them shot for shot. Just a question of if our D can stop them enough to help our O.

Work for a shoot out. We've got better weapons on offense, and Seattle is weak on pass D. Don't try to protect the defense with ball control. Push the pedal to the metal on offense and make Wilson work to catch up. Don't want a low scoring close game that Wilson can hero at the end. He's too good a that. Make him hero all day long.

Very well, then yes, play for the shoot out, and dare them to stop us on D.

Any team with 4 turnovers in the 1st quarter and behind 20-0 is going to struggle to win. We did win and that's saying something. As the OP said, we just need the defense to play a little better and we'll be right there.
One of the best things about this win, was it was a great lesson to the youth on this team, that you never give up, no matter how down you may be.
This team has its fair share of weaknesses but quitting doesnt appear to be one of them.
Thats a good place to start.

It took a miracle to beat the Falcons at home. A miracle. Can we just see how it goes against the Seahawks. The schedule looks very tough so if this team can make the playoffs they will have earned it.

I bet you have an excuse if we beat the Hawks.

The main positives I see are
cowboys scored 40 points, 30 in 2nd half, that is promising.
cowboys came back got in a position to win if Atl screwed up, and they did , then dallas got in fg position, and for a short fg not a long one.
defense held atlanta to 10 points in that 2nd half, which is pretty good.
Lamb gained some confidence , Bell and shultz showed they can play good, joe thomas was good, elliot is running pretty good.

Yes, and that seems to have been the case in the Rams game as well. Our D came along nicely in the second half that game too. What we need is our D to get better and be consistent. I say give this team time to continue developing and gelling, and I think people will be surprised at what this team is capable of. It was said that we probably won't know what we have until probably October given the lack of preseason and less than usual offseason programs. The offense certainly appeared to have found their legs in the second half of the Falcons game.

Both games so far shows me Nolan makes adjustments at half time, and the players execute it for the most part. There are drives they can't stop. But that happens to even the best defenses.
When was the last time we can say they made any adjustments at halftime, offense or defense. :muttley:

But both the Rams and the Falcons games, the defense overall played better. 2nd half Sunday, they held the Falcon to 10 points.
Also giving them great field position on 3 fumbles lost and 2 ill advised fake punts. As they got what 1 TD and 4 FG's from that. Not too bad. If not for the turnovers, this game may have looked much different, as then those fake punts would not have happened either.

Still a lot to clean up and a lot of work to though.

Yes, and our offense has been making nice adjustments too. I'm liking the way our coaches adjust rather than clap. Our D stepped up in the second half both games. Just need that to be consistent throughout the whole game.
