I seem to remember that back in 2016, we had an early season match-up against a very good Seattle team that had just recently won it all. It was Dak and Zeke's first year and we weren't picked to do that much. We played in their park and came out with a huge win that made the NFL sit up and notice. We went 13-3 that year.
Fast forward to this year and the circumstances are eerily similar. Seattle hasn't won a Super Bowl since that first one but they are one of this year's favorites and they have what many people say is the league's best QB.
If Dallas were to go to Seattle and win this Sunday they would, again, put the league on notice. A win Sunday could propel us to have an amazing season, possibly, even a far run into the playoffs.
Do you all agree with this or is it just another game?

Said this in another post. I'm not sure if it still applies and that's my biggest concern moving ahead...

This team could never build on success. When they had some, they seemed to read their own headlines of how great they were and had no killer instinct.

Jimmy was excellent at controlling this and Garrett was awful.

So, it wouldnt at all surprise me to see them beat Seattle and lose to Cleveland the week after.

Hoping MM can have some success then continue to convince them how good they still arent

There's another, simpler, explanation for why a team can't "build on success" and rack up win over win. It's that they're not very good. An average team will surprise you sometimes and beat a much better team. And the fans get all excited like this is a "turning point" or a "signature win." And then they go out and lose to a worse team, because that's what average teams do. And at the end of the day, they end up with an average record.

I don't know how good these Cowboys are or can be, especially with all the injuries. But if they go out and beat Seattle and then lose to Cleveland, it's probably because they're a middle-of-the-pack team that occasionally beats someone better and occasionally loses to someone worse. Like all middle-of-the-pack teams do.

It's just another game. All games are. If the Cowboys win, we should increase our estimation of the quality of the team a little bit. If they get blown out, we should decrease our estimation a little bit.

like a dog, i live in the "now". 2016 is a long time ago. the game sunday will have nothing to do with the game in 2016. a victory would be nice.

We have momentum, our Offense is picking up the pace. But our Defense has got to get pressure and play very well or it’s gonna be a shoot out. Can’t depend on onside kicks or luck.

The Cowboys offense can hang with anyone, including KC. The game comes down to whether we can generate a pass rush and contain Wilson. Alot of new parts on the defense with a new scheme. They are gonna get better each week. Gotta hope they take a big jump this week

The Cowboys didn’t play Seattle in 2016.
You are right. I was going off memory. It was 2014. The year the Seahawks won the Super Bowl. Point is that it was an early season game that gave us confidence when we went to Seattle and beat the Seahawks. Nobody expected it but we won 30-23.

it will be a big win for us.
sure our depth is being tested...but they have confidence now...and our resolve is strong.

A win on Sunday and anything is possible with 13 games left. It will likely be a great season.

If we get beat easily, we will be an also ran once again, but are still likely Div champs.

I'm completely expecting us to lose on Sunday but I really don't think it matters. We will win enough games this season to win the division and therefore obviously be in the play offs. Seattle is a game that has come maybe 2 or 3 weeks too early for us to compete. I don't see us getting destroyed and it may well be our best performance of the season to date but I just feel Seattle have hit the ground running and have a familiarity with each other that the Cowboys don't yet have. Whilst I agree a win could be a springboard to better things, I don't believe a defeat would make any genuine difference to our season long prospects.
