But in the meantime, So long as Crawford is logging that many snaps and reps in the interior, he is really hurting this defense.
but maybe Crawford apologists may think he just needs time to work off rust per hip surgery while he gets knocked all around the field in the meantime.
He's logging high reps because he's needed, lol.
That's why he is here.
He didn't get a pay cut because the team didn't want to extend him to lower his cost.

What we have seen this year is they made the right call.
Keep him in case of emergency (which happened when McCoy was injured and you saved 3M there).
But don't extend him so you owe him zero at the end of the year.
If he comes back next year it will be for a couple mil or nothing.

He is overpaid but who cares. Next year's cap is when belt tightening happens and they owe him zero.

So much wrong in this post.

Whoever said anything about an "extension"? They're two entirely different things. A pay cut is "take less money or we'll outright release you".

What we have seen this year is they made the right call.

In what possible way is this now "the right call"?

Keep him in case of emergency (which happened when McCoy was injured and you saved 3M there).

And now they "saved money" on McCoy?

They wouldnlt with a paycut or outright release either. There's no spin to where this is anything resembling a good thing or "the right call".

He is overpaid but who cares.

People who know math. And wasted cap room.

Next year's cap is when belt tightening happens and they owe him zero.

And every penny wasted on Crawford doing nothing could have and should have been rolled over. Is this willful ignorance or did you not know that?

The front office sure doesn't seem to care.

And the homer fans who have no valid defense for wasting money like this would like everyone else to believe it. Because the truth hurts them.

Thanks stash interesting read. I have hear of vested veterans but never really knew what that meant. I am even more blown away that he was not cut or made to rework his deal. His salary became fully guaranteed on day 1 of the season. Good lord. Might as well have just burnt the cash.

$20 million of cap space. Absolutely wasted over the past two seasons. All of which could have easily been avoided if not for this franchises blindspot when it comes to this mediocre player. And the fans trying to defend it.

They all end up looking like fools.

I will be glad when Crawford is gone so I can stop seeing you cry about it.
I simply tell you every year what will happen, it does, you post and cry then try to tell me I am wrong.

He is needed, he is getting high reps and he is a free agent with zero due in 2021 when the cap falls. Those aren't opinions but simple facts.

Had the DL been healthy I believe he would have been cut.
When McCoy went down they saved McCoy's money and kept TC.
Come next year expect that to flip when they sign McCoy back and let TC test free agency where someone else will likely give him 3-5m per year to be a spot DL.

After injuries every year there are only some many NFL caliber DL and they all gain value.

**Maliek Collins can make up to 7.5 M this year in Oakland or whatever the Raiders live right now. For 20 tackles and 4 sacks a season.

I'm not the one who has to cry about it. That would be you, and anyone still whining and trying to make excuses for this player and his ridiculous contract.

I'm 100% right and have been for some time. There's absolutely no reason for me to "cry" about anything. I'll leave that to the fools who have tried for years to defend it. Let them "cry".

I simply tell you every year what will happen, it does, you post and cry then try to tell me I am wrong.

And Crawford sucks yet again, I'm proven right - again - and you end up looking foolish. The pattern is clear.

He is needed, he is getting high reps and he is a free agent with zero due in 2021 when the cap falls. Those aren't opinions but simple facts.

"He is needed" is the furthest thing from a "fact". When you start with that lie, you invalidate everything else.

The facts are clearly presented and supported, the trouble is they hurt and you don;t like them. So you try to spin things, as evidenced by that embarrassing post above.

Give it up, you're only digging that hole of embarrassment even deeper.

I said we should cut him let the young guys get reps. Who are actually playing better than him anyway. Waste of $$.

The whole post was about cutting him before the season started so that we could save the $8 million and either use it this year on ET or someone that could help or roll it into next year to help pay the QB

I hate to beat a dead horse but $8 million Tyrone Crawford has 3 tackles in 2 games. As many people espoused before the first game, cut Crawford and sign ET withe the money. Think about how much better our D would be right now with that one swap.

Tackles...not a great stat for DLinemen.

Aaron Donald: 5
Leonard Williams: 8
Danny Shelton: 8

Still baffled we didn't cut him before week 1. I mean can the rookie play any worst then crawford? Maybe McCoy being lost for the season secured Crawfords roster spot.

Dumping Crawford for ET was not going to to happen. I wanted Crawford gone, but with the injuries we have, since he can play all the DL positions, it may be good he is around.
Not that he is great, but he does all the dirty work for the other players to do what they need to do. It does not look like any one is doing anything though.

Crawford is one of those necessary evils you need to put up with for this year. He will make a few plays, just his pay does not warrant his production, but that is the way it is. I come to accept that, knowing this will be, or should be his last year.

I think they want to see a few more games of S play before they consider ET.

I'd concluded it was time to move on before the season start. Certainly should have demanded a pay cut. 8mil was way too much for the limited role he *might* have been able to fulfill in the best of circumstances.

Didn't need Crawford for DE. ASmith showing up in camp. Counting on DLaw and Griffen. Gregory coming back. Even Anae looking good in camp. Armstrong not a bum.

We had a big need for pass rushing DT rotation, but it wasn't clear he was going to bring that much, and bringing 8mil worth was next to impossible.

Should have cut him. Should have cut him last year too.

Promote Justin Hamilton. Look for available vets after week 1 who *wouldn't* have their salary guaranteed. Not ideal, but paying Crawford 8mil was even less ideal.

I agree he should have been gone 2 years ago. But my comments based on this year, as the injuries happened.
