What have you seen that you like/dislike.

For me;

I like the aggression and use of analytics in the play calling. I know it’s caused some controversy but I’m down with every decisions so far except the 4th down Thompson run. Go for it there, just not with that play.

I like the hard counts. Dak has caught a few offsides and sniffed out some blitzes and holes in the defense...keep it up.

I don’t like the lack of pre-snap motion. It’s something we can utilize a bit more, especially with Lamb and Pollard.

I hate us dropping linemen into coverage. It must have happened a dozen times last game. That **** needs to stop.

I like the two gapping. It’s had some success against the run.

I want to see our edge rushers primarily rush from a 3 point stance and running more stunts. Not asking for Rod levels but guys like Crawford, Lawrence, and Gallimore are stunting specialists. It needs to be a part of the defense.

I hate how often we are putting Jaylon in man coverage against TE’s that are quality route runners. We’ve got some tough TE’s coming up (Browns, Giants, Eagles, and 49ers). Please stop.

Week 1...

Playing a boring brand of football on offense and looking completely not prepared on defense.

Week 2... Looking sloppy..

Overall the lack of common sense from the head coach. I love being aggressive but I don’t like the stupidity he has shown.

Haven't liked the weirdness on the oline of who plays and who backs up.

Knight should have played over Steele. I haven't seen anyone disagree but the coaches, yet I think the published depth chart this week had Steele at RT, Knight backing up Tyron.

Weird that Williams gets camp snaps at C, but not T.

Meanwhile, McGovern gets no snaps at C in camp.

Maybe when Collins and Tyron are back, we consider playing Knight at LG. He's just playing better than Williams.

I don't see us signing Williams to a new contract. It should soon be time to get young guys with a longer future with us onto the field. Biadasz, McGovern, Knight.

Likes:
  • Being less conservative
  • Dak looks better than ever
  • Coaches being able to “coach up” a backup player to at least be competent
  • Jerry’s staying away from the post game locker room- no press conference that undermines his HC
  • Zeke playing hard every play, not just 3/4 of them
  • K Greg Zuerlein- much more dependable
  • Better punt returns (means better field position)
  • Having 14 rookies, most of which are already having some impact
  • No excuses from McCarthy
Dislikes
  • Jaylon Smith too often out of position
  • Lack of a pass rush
  • Injuries- obviously no one’s fault
  • Lack of turnovers on defense
  • Not showing many different looks
  • Not using Pollard enough (put him on the field WITH Zeke)
  • Chris Jones still not that great
  • Falling behind early

My dislikes up to this point have been fan narratives.

You've listed most or all of them

Stop with the nonsense that is not based on reviewing games.

Hate all the 1st down runs. Dak is looking like a superstar throwing the ball, but we keep forcing the ball between the tackles on every 1st down. I think Marcus Mosher said we ran on 11/16 firsts last week, which is about 70% of the time. Zeke's running well, but you give some of those throws to Dak and he'll turn it into a hell of a lot more than 2nd and 6.

I still think Kellen is going to be a stud OC in this league.

I like McCarthys aggressive style, even if it's questionable at times. At least he's not playing to lose.

Nolan is awful.

I hate the injuries. It makes it hard to really read what we have here.

Harsh on Nolan but it doesn’t look good having Jaylon make comments after week two and at times I’m not too sure why things are done.

Is what it is. Jaylon is a very high character guy. It's gotta be pretty bad when it comes from a class act.

They gambled way too much in just 2 weeks. Should've kicked the FG in LA. Then you throw a yard shy of the marker?? You're facing a playoff caliber team and you take the points in that situation. Then the 2 punt fakes. 1st throw was OK, but that run was absolutely moronic. You want to seriously win and go deep. you gotta play smart. Know when to play field position and when to take the points. Being aggressive is one thing but those calls were just stupid. Hopefully they learn and don't make a habit of it. Trick plays "on occasion".

Okay, but you’ve added nothing. Be a bit more specific or don’t bother commenting here.
I'll comment when I feel like commenting.

A 3 point stance vs standing up, blah blah blah.

DL dropping into coverage.

Fans just need something super simplistic that they they can easily see that is different in order to complain about it and blow it out of proportion.

The defense is designed as a complete entity. Fans want to change bits and pieces without understanding the reasons the coaches use specific techniques or alignments.

The Cowboys #1 problem last season and going back to the Rams playoff game was run defense. The pass defense only became a problem when they shifted all resources from pass defense to run defense.

Nolan is focused on resolving the problems with the run defense.

When teams get a big lead like Atlanta did, they want to burn clock by running the ball. Nolan wisely did not abandon run defense and go all in with the pass rush (stunting/blitzing included) like fans wanted.

Jaylon has covered ok when he actually covered.
He is ok physically. He just has a low IQ.

Dropped interceptions are pissing me off. I counted 3 against Atlanta.

5 straight seasons with 10 or fewer INTs, and now we’re on pace for a 6th.

We’ll never win anything if the defense doesn’t start making plays and doing their part. Period.
