the defenses coaches seem to be in agreement with jaylon on this one. just wasn't enough time or practice to implement something entirely new. aywa has listened.

This won't fit well with the narrative in this thread but it appears McCarthy was the first one who said to the press that we need to simplify somethings on the defense and then Smith was asked later about what McCarthy was saying and Smith just co-signed it. Smith didn't offer this up out of the blue.

Hear all this talk of no off season, lack of preseason. Blah blah blah..

Fact is Dallas doesn't have good players at key spots on defense. These players and coaches have been playing this game for years on years and more years. This ain't their first rodeo. Sick of the excuses. Dallas' defense is not good.

Honestly, Jaylon's better than guys who never get to play because they're injured. We have a lot to go after in the draft next year. Safety/D-lineman/linebacker/offensive linemen.

I knew Jaylon Smith was dumb... now he wants an easier playbook... so basically run the same scheme all the time. He does realize the position he plays right? I can’t stand that guy.
Jaylonhas forgotten more about football than you will ever know.

For those of you who have not figured it out yet Jerruh is the only and only lord and master of all things Cowboys and one of the things that is at the very top of the Jerruh list of importance is that his players love him. And one of his favorite pets is Jaylon. For no reason what so ever Jaylon gets to be a second round draft pick. For no reason what so ever he gets an early top tier LB contract extension. If Jaylon wants to make his playbook simple Jerruh will make sure it gets done. Fat Mike and Nolan were playing make believe coach in their moms basement just last year. Jerruh can make it happen again.

Haha. Agreed. Though, there's a difference between simple, and being predictable. We could use more disguise, and less "LeTs HaVe ThE whole TeAm DrOp BaCk In CoVeRaGe FoR nO rEaSoN."

they can't even handle that, they can't get lined up right without disguising

Actually there was a reason............. without the injury, he was likely a Top 5 pick. The Cowboys' doctor performed the surgery and would have more information on Smith than most teams would. Cowboys took a calculated risk. It failed. Smith has never looked like the kid in college. Teams do this all the time. So it's not unique to Jerry. The Eagles, needing CBs, took Sidney Jones in the 2nd round even though he had a torn achilles. Jones was likely a Top 10-12 pick in the draft. Eagles took a calculated risk and it didn't work out for them either.

Seemed clear by the statement. "Absolutely" is answering a question. It's really par for the course with this kind of stuff, too. Players rarely offer up stuff unprompted.

Jaylon wasn't getting drafted by anyone anywhere close to round 2. It was Jerruh being Jerruh cause he can and there is nothing you or I or fat Mike can do about it.

Maybe not (but you have no idea if that's true or not) but that doesn't change the point. Dallas isn't alone in taking risks on guys who have injuries (or even other issues) that see their draft slot slide. I am no Jerry fan but to try to make this out to be something unique to Jerry is pretty silly.

They saw a kid who was likely a Top 5 pick pre-injury, their doctor did the surgery, so they took a calculated risk (that other teams do as well). It failed. It's really that simple.
