I like Worley. He is the classic guy who is a solid “football player”. But just lacks great athleticism.

he is a solid piece in the secondary. Just not a guy you want being one of your top players.

He looked Athletic enough for me diving for that Int. To bad there was a penalty.

Worley was a great signing. Highly underrated last year, and has been quietly performing well the last three weeks.

I also agree that Carr is likely a better option than Thompson and should play more and more as he become familiar with the playbook. I still think Thompson has a role as our box safety and is probably our best option. We just need to reduce the scope of what he’s asked to do.

Thompson only played 51% vs Atlanta.

Safety kills momentum and allowed Seattle 2 points.
Yes, but if they punt from the back of the endzone, that often ends up with a return to the wrong side of the 50 and almost guarantees with a FG if not a TD.

For me giving up 2 points is better than giving up 3 or 7 points...

Obviously they need to avoid being at the 1 inch line doe to an Special Teams mistake, but once they're in that situation, I prefer taking the Safety over giving up and easy FG or TD.

...>> Xwalker thanks for the breakdown. I had no clue Carr even played a down..lol.. Good to hear he did well. I agree, let him get some reps in. Thompson does ok against the run, but at safety the dude wears the wrong compass.

Carr played 17 snaps in the Atlanta game.

He played 33% of the snaps vs Atlanta. Most or all at Safety.

Thompson only played 51% of the snaps in that game.
- I'm not certain if Thompson was injured or if the coaches just wanted to see Worley at Safety.

Yeah I noticed Worley opposite of Woods a lot vs. ATL then Thompson vs. SEA.

I guess they are making changes but I can’t stand Thompson back there.

I know Lewis is popular in this forum but for the likes of me I don't think he's that good.

Too slow, too small and too grabby.

Last years game against Buffalo showed us how bad he really was.

+1.......and now it appears his confidence is shot

I thought Lewis would be a good Nickel CB if he received enough playing time but he played 55% of the snaps last season and was not good.

His short area quickness had been a strong point but on 1 play in Seattle he got out-quicked by TE Jacob Hollister.

He did have an injury that kept him out for game 1. That might be a lingering issue.

I think he would be good at QB if he had a little bit more size, strength and speed. But if he did he would be a consensus #1 pick.

He has good instincts and plays the ball well in the air though. But he just doesn't do well in the slot.

Worley had the best game of any DB.
- Aldon Smith was the best player on defense with either Worley or Joe Thomas as #2.
  • He had an INT that was called back due to a penalty on Lewis.
  • He gave up 1 pass for about 7 yards where the receiver had to tip-toe the sideline to make it.
  • He allowed a couple of short completions to the underneath receiver when playing zone but that was because he had to stay back and cover the receiver behind him initially.
  • He was good coming up against the run.
His only bad play was a penalty for illegal contact where he collided with the WR.
- It was only a 5 yard penalty and not PI but it nullified a sack.

When not playing CB I think Worley is better at Safety than Thompson.

Side Note 1:
- Brandon Carr played 3 snaps. He was very good on the snap that I saw on review breaking up a would be TD.
- I would consider playing Carr as 1 of the top 3 CBs with Lewis on the bench.

Side Note 2:
- The Seahawks punted on the possession after Pollard downed the ball at the 1 and Zeke was tackled for a Safety.
- I prefer a Safety in that situation over punting from deep in the endzone.

I like him and Diggs to start unitl Auz. comes back.

Stop. That dude is running past every db in this league.

No he is not. As a defensive player, you never stand flat footed, waiting for the offensive player to come to you. By the way, I had the wrong player, it was Thompson.

Outside 1 penalty, we didn't hear much about Worley which is a good thing. Both Safeties and Lewis really struggled, especially in the first half. I do believe the team needs another high-end CB starter, but the biggest issue at this juncture is at the safety position.

It's so hard to find anything positive about this "so far" record setting (and not in a good way) defense. It can only go up. I am not sure it can get worse...LOL

The Giants allowed the 49ers, with a backup QB, to score on almost every single drive. The 9ers missed a FG, then ran the clock out at the end of the game.

Not that it's something to be terribly proud of, but it could be a little worse.

Thompson screwed up that play. If he had reacted faster, he'd have been able to defend the play. But he didn't realize what was going on until Metcalf was on him and just ran right past him.
