totally league BS that he's been reinstated ..but yet still cannot hit the playing field as he has to sit out half of the damn season, .practically 2 months .

that's just like having another suspension 8 game suspension ..

If he does come back and can give this team so help great, but to expect some big sack machine he as 7 sacks in 28 games or 1 in every 4 games. He has been suspended for more games than he has played in. Yes Aldon Smith has missed more and is playing well but the difference is he was really good before his suspensions and Gregory wasn't.as good before his suspension.

I think you are ignoring the fact that Gregory was miscast in our previous defense. He was a skinny pass rush specialist trying to play 4-3 DE. While he was not as good as Smith in our previous defense, there is a chance that he could approach that level in a defense that uses him in a manner that accentuates his talents. We shall see..

Normally I would agree 100% and still do, that he had to wait to get on the field. He should not have to wait.
However, as it may work out. It is kind of a blessing. Now he should have been in TC from that start. But it is what it is. I won't waste any energy about the way it came about.

But this way, he was allowed to participate in team meetings, use the facilities to work out and get in shape even more than he was. Sit in meetings, learn the defense, observe the practices and games. As well, be around team mates. In the past this was not allowed.

Next week being able to actually practice, when he hits the field he will be better prepared. Also this is about the time the defense should really have been gelling more, getting in sync. And he can fit right in.

Since DL is not getting any pressure, put RG on one side and Smith on the other and let the chips fall were they may.

Yeah as much as hoping for on-field production I just want to see the young man get his life on track. I think he's a father now and that often gets guys to focus on what's important. Not always but sometimes. I know many people think we should have jettisoned him after his first failed drug test but kudos to the Cowboys for sticking by the kid through some tough times. I don't drink, smoke, toke, shoot up or snort and never have but I recognize that for guys to be willing to risk millions of dollars just for the pleasure of doing it it must be extremely powerful. The only thing that I would risk that kinda money for is nookie.. but since I'm married I'm not allowed to have any of that anyway! LOL

Good stuff! And sorry about the 'nookie part'!

See if we can get some value out of a 2015 2nd round pick.

Oh I see even though he played defense end in college and was drafted as a defensive end and then used as a defense end he was miscast as a defense end but back then wasn't fast enough to play LB and cover RB's and TE's in pass coverage. Oh BTW DE's in a 4-3 are generally lighter than DE's in a 3-4 defense that the Cowboys weren't using and weren't going to switch to just because they drafted Gregory. This is an extremely weak excuse to defend Gregory.

3 more weeks until he can play, that'll be great.

Unless the Cowboys are 1-5 at that time, in which case it may be too late, even if he does turn into another Harvey Martin...

All this assuming he doesn't get suspended again between now and week 7...

No that was the condition for ending an indefinite suspension. It could have just as easily been the decision that he would get reinstated and have to wait until the 2021 season.

I'm excited because I think he's a great fit for the 3-4. He can cover better than DLaw or Griffin and is better than Crawford at getting to the QB.

He was our most gifted pass rusher when we last saw him.....and yes that includes Dlaw. He was a pretty good run defender too. I’ve always thought he belonged in the 34 so it should be fun.
I don't know about that. D-Law had 4.5 more sacks and 8 more QB hits than Gregory in 2018 (when Gregory last played), and D-Law was getting double teamed routinely. He also had 39 more tackles

Does anyone see a scenario with him AND Smith on the field at the same time?
