Warning. Depressing to watch.

I was wrong regarding my dude J-Train. Wow. Dude is either out or his league or the DC doesn't have a clue how to scheme. I'd imagine it's a combination of both ..

That's piss poor Linebacker and Defensive end play. Basic fundamentals they teach in Pop Warner through High School are being violated because we're poorly coached and playing for our own selfish splash play especially at D-End.

Joe Thomas is better than Jaylon...he's a major liability right now. He stinks..that's horrible play. You have to walk out of Monday film and think about your career and basically hide out..scary stuff. That's not professional line backing

A lot of this is hangover from Marinelli. They are defending the run on the way to the QB. That works a whole lot better with a 3rd lb on the field. Pretty sure that was what McCarthy was referring to about relying on the previous scheme when things are going poorly.

That's something that we can clean up. Always a struggle to change schemes but with no preseason, this is what you get early.

That’s exactly what I thought too. They are crashing inside. Dlaw is still playing both gaps.

Poe is doing a great job! He’s getting doubled a lot.

Has he made a video on the backend yet? Would love to see it!

I'd move Joe Thomas to the middle STAT! He's clearly the best LB on the field and stout.

How unlucky can JJ be?????? First he turns into Saint Jerry when he drafts a BROKEN DOWN J. Smith in the 2nd rd and the WHOLE NFL world went nuts saying Jerry was the best thing since slice bread because he drafted a kid who will more than likely not play in the NFL because of a horrible leg injury that was sustained in a meaningless college game. Yes, jerry rode in on a white horse and injected life into this kids football career. Jerry brought in the best medical team money could buy and saved J. Smith's career! J. Smith's career looked promising from the start because Jerry made sure he surrounded J. Smith with other Linebackers who were smarter than he was and who were better than he was until it was time to take off the training wheels and let J. Smith prosper on his own. Coaches and players from a far were melting over J. Smith's ability to run like the wind on a football field and were all saying, " He's going to be a star in this league". Yes, Saint Jerry was so proud of his J. Smith that he opened up the skies and rewarded him with a $64 million dollar contract. The Gods all gave their blessings to Saint Jerry for rewarding J. Smith with such a contract for working so hard to get back on the football field and what has J. Smith given back to Saint Jerry for such a rich contract....... that's rights.............NOT A DAM THING! J. Smith is a fraud, he's a bum, his a fake, hell I could go on and on, but I'm afraid Cowboys Forum will start charging me for the extract lines. J. Smith needs to be BENCHED, he needs to be forced to watch HIS game films over and over and over again, until he says UNCLE and gives Saint Jerry back the money he's been stealing from him attempting to impersonate a Pro Bowl Football Player.
Jerry always did things that way...

I PAY you to be, therefore you OUGHT to be.

Same man who flat out said he shouldn't have to invest high picks in OL because Hudson Houck was the highest paid OL coach in the league.

For all his brilliance....THIS is the mentality by which this team is run.

Once again, I applaud the Voch, ****NOT-AN-OFFICIAL-SOURCE***, Okoue guys that break this stuff down for us. That was SO SHOCKING to see. We’ve all been beating up the DT’s, when (from that video) it looks like it’s mostly the edge guys and LB ****** up (and some bad safety play too). The only inside guy I see constantly getting walked back is the $9M Man.
:banghead::banghead::banghead:

This reminds me of when Philly maybe 5-6 years ago ran the same off-tackle play literally the entire game taking advantage of our edge players and LBs.

This is really interesting. It shows that Poe is doing much better than people thought.

Actually, if you watch Poe, Woods, and sometimes Hill, they look like they’re playing more 2-Gap. Poe keeps getting double teamed and engaging/holding ground. The LB’s are supposed to FEAST when your NT does that. But, they ain’t...the Edge guys and LB are the ones messing this up the most.

Yes indeed. Jaylon has no current clue how to play off of Poe. That's basic linebacker DL reads 101... Hopefully, he gains some vision this week. Losing to the clapper would be a nail in the proverbial coffin for the season.

we’ll make a game out of the giants. This defense is really really bad. If we win personally I don’t care for this dub. It’s a wash. It’s the giants. No one in the league is gonna respect we beat the Giants.

it’s so bad, that im almost positive the Giants think they can come here and beat us! And they aint wrong.

So, this does NOT look like a coaching issue anymore...unless Nolan is actually telling his DE’s to crash and his LB’s NOT to scrape and get off blocks. This is ALL on the players. The only thing I’m actually gonna get in the coaches, in particular MM, was his insistence to play Steele over Knight.
I'm starting to believe that too.

It SEEMS like laziness and/or freelancing is the issue with the D in these videos. I wonder if they are pissed they are no longer "rushmen" and are actually expected to play like a defensive linemen and linebackers?

I sure would like to see some of these guys be benched DURING the game if they are freelancing / sand bagging out there and give some of the young players some experience. They might not be as good, but I feel like they would at least put fourth some effort.

I never thought Jaylon should be in the middle
I know in the off season many loved the idea but to me his strength doesn’t fit the spot
Sadly it’s not just Jaylon but the team that’s looking like they see everything way to late
I know lee is fragile but for as long as he can last I’d stick him in the middle and Jaylon on the edge where he can have an effect on the pass rush

I didn't get why everyone was so happy about that position move for Jaylon either.

hey man jaylon is a corporation now!! this football thing is just a side gig.:p
Drafting jaylon, and gregory, were 2 of jerrys dumbest moves ever and we are still paying for it.
He is going to make gregory a millionaire now, since he has been such a devoted player!

Jaylon Smith is unwatchable.

He plays with a very low football IQ. The kid is not very sharp...at all.

I distinctly remember an NFL scout reporting that.

And we now have a head coach with the same level football IQ.

Good times indeed.

Here's to 2020!!

:hammer:

Jaylon used to (not sure if he still does) conduct his business in the facility after practice....that showed his priorities.....and Jerry got into business with him....

its not about football. its about money...

Jaylon plays like he is not interested. he is there, because he is making a paycheck.....couple of years ago he played with more abandon, faster, seemed like he studied film...right now he seems disinterested...just running around.

He has equity in four businesses, ranging from a distillery to a cryotherapy outfit to a manufacturing conglomerate to an entrepreneurial operating firm, in addition to founding his own eyewear line. He’s into real estate, holding a stake in three real estate properties on top of his investment in a real estate development company. Smith’s an influencer, too, one who has cultivated his own brand built around his longstanding mantra, “Clear Eye View,” and has partnered with companies including Trojan Condoms, DirecTV, Draft Kings and Reliant Energy.

The guy is an entrepreneur no doubt and I'm glad he's thinking long term on. However, to me, it's clear that he has taken a step back on the field, and I wonder if we'll ever see him make an improvement or is the atmosphere too comfortable for him in Dallas to care. Zero threat about losing his starting gig any time soon.
