They used a draft pick on him, so "total accident" isn't an accurate way to put it. Dak did vastly exceed expectations though.Dak was a total accident just like Romo. Dak was drafted to be a 3rd string QB. It took a QB in front of Dak on the depth chart to get hurt and bump Dak to 2 so he got his shot when Romo went down. Just like Romo was stashed on the practice squad and was about to be cut before Quincy was arrested. he stayed on and relieved Bledsoe because he was so bad. One was not even drafted and the other was drafted to be stashed down the roster as a warm body. These are this regime's only 2 QBs they have that have been successful. Aikman was Jimmy's doing.
Drafting after the 3rd round is such a crapshoot. In rounds 1-3 over the last 5 drafts, this team is not good overall and it isn't even close. The last 5 years of drafting should be the core of this team from rounds 1-3. Name me that core and how they are helping? There isn't many at all and that is the huge underlying issue. They draft well enough to be an average team but not even close to build any core that can sustain any success. We still have not had back to back playoff seasons since what, 2006 and 2007?
And the draft picks that did work out like Jones and Collins on defense we let walk. We let 4 defensive starters from last year go which isn’t talked about much.We could go back as far as you want, but let’s just go 3 years. This is why we are so horrible. In nobody’s universe is this drafting any good at all. This is one star in 3 years and only a couple of average starters.
Taco, Cheeto, J.Lewis, Switzer, Woods, Pollard, M.White (DB), C.Williams, D.Armstrong, Covington, M.White (QB), McGovern, Scarbrough, M. Jackson, Hill, J.Jackson, Wilson, Webber, Gallimore, Robinson, Anae, Dinucci,
Of course We did get CeeDee, LVE, and I think Diggs and Badass, will pan out. I might also throw Pollard down here, but he’s in the dog house because of his stupidity. LVE could also be on the bad list because he’s looking like a less healthy version of Sean Lee, and that’s a hard thing to do.
When you add bad drafting and the bargain basement Shopping in Free Agency together, it paints a great picture of why our favorite team is 1-3.
so the #1 offense in the league 2 straight years full of actual hand picked draft picks are an accident some are saying dumb luck, really we could say that about all teams draft..We could go back as far as you want, but let’s just go 3 years. This is why we are so horrible. In nobody’s universe is this drafting any good at all. This is one star in 3 years and only a couple of average starters.

TY someone that realizes common sense needs to come in play..half that OPs list has Rookies and 2nd year players as busts LMAO were they supposed to go to the PB by now? HOF candidates? some drafts pan out bog for starters others have backups and mixed bag, the issue mostly on defense is those player starting right now picked by the old DC and Richard are backups and dont fit this scheme.. its growing pains...so yes mistakes were made and on defense a lot of players starting should be backups.. they will get ti fixed..new voice in WM and Jerrys ears now but cant get that done year one 4 games in..sorry..thats unrelaistic expecations..I think the teams that take the best available player, vs a need tend to have a longer more successful winning cycle.
Drafting is a crapshoot at best. I tend to believe that the higher the pick, the more the pressure to hit a home run. What really happens is that you wind up focusing on a much smaller pool of talent, and don't have time spent looking at more players that could bring in more upside per dollar a few picks later.
Hill is in his 2nd year, and has been playing well.
Gallimore is a rookie
We don't know about Mcgovern yet
pollard was very good value
cheeto was not a bad pick
PFF has Hill at the very bottom of ranked players. Absolutely last. He has not been playing well at all.
Dak was a steal and excellent pick. Bargain for 4yrs.
