He started as a freshman and that's the only loss in his career(29-1) Plus he has won a national championship. But let's just concentrate on the one loss.

If there is a season, Clemson should be in the title hunt again.

Last poll I saw Clemson was a near-unanimous pick to win it all again.

But here's the rub - no team gets that kind of ranking due solely to having a great quarterback. Their team is loaded with top talent everywhere. Does anybody expect Joe Burrow to throw for 64 tds and over 6,000 yards (extrapolating his 15 game stats his last year at LSU)? No, though the record isn't that far off, not saying he couldn't, just doubtful.

We saw Lineart, et al just tear up a college football season, only to fail miserably in the NFL. There's a risk that he's riding a massively talented team to the gaudy record (remember all here who continually brought up Kellen Moore's 50-3 record as evidence he should be the Cowboys' starter? How'd that turn out?).

Of course teams have to make evaluations of a player other than their record in college, and there are things that you can see that indicate probable success in the NFL.

Just saying going all in, getting rid of good to very good players and depending on your no. 1 pick quarterback to get you SB wins comes with big risks....

The win/loss record in college should be considered, but it's way toward the bottom of the list. And such a tiny factor that it barely matters.

Reading D's, performing under pressure, having at least the minimum required arm strength, instincts, pocket awareness, timing, release, touch. There are so many things to evaluate to attempt to determine if a QB can play in the NFL.

Yes, like I said "Of course teams have to make evaluations of a player other than their record in college, and there are things that you can see that indicate probable success in the NFL."

Still remains a big risk to hang your hat on one player to bring you SBs...

So......The guy has long hair so you don't want him
So much that you'd even quit being a Cowboy fan.

:lmao::lmao2:
I mean, to be fair, countless "fans" of the Cowboys have stopped functioning as actual fans anymore because they're so full of hate and inner discomfort thanks to a certain physical trait our current QB possesses. Not sure what's far-fetched about Cowboys fans being nitpicky and bad fans due to their personal prejudices.

Top 4 winningest college QB's of all time:

Kellen Moore
Colt McCoy
Andy Dalton
David Greene(Whoever that is!!!)

Trying to assess a player by calling him a "winner" might be the dumbest assessment I've ever heard.
It's so easy to get bit when you mess with QBs on stacked college teams who win without much challenge.

I lived in Eagles country in the '90s and I still laugh when I think about the Eagles fans who thought they had their next franchise QB when they got Bobby Hoying in the draft. He QB'ed an insanely talented team. He threw passes to Joey Galloway, Terry Glenn, Chris Sanders, and a TE who got picked 9th overall in the draft. Had Orlando Pace watching his back and Eddie George to drive the offense up the field. Hoying had about as much to do with that group's success as Nicky Sualua did (he was their FB, who we spent a mid-round pick on -- because of course our terrible front office looked at that team and thought, "Ooh, I want the fullback").

Imagine if someone had spent a high pick on Ken Dorsey because of how much he won while QB'ing that Hurricanes team.
