Losing your starting QB pretty well takes all of the pressure off relieving accountability towards the results of a season with high expectations that was on the brink of collapsing with his starting QB and #1 offense.

Now with veteran Dalton serving as the backup the pressure is off. He begun by rallying to win his first game without Dak. Andy drove us down on the final drive making a huge throw to set up the winning kick.

It’s like McCarthy has a new lease on the season. No one expects us to win now. He hasn’t illustrated much edge of his past success and experience up until now. Hopefully he can insert himself more into the offense. This is an opportunity he might not have had otherwise.
Agreed. Expectations will naturally be lowered. Could be a good thing for him and the players. The players love Dak so will give it their all. Could be a bonding situation that will carry them.

He may be able to coach now a little more in his wheelhouse It could work out great

And if tonite was any indication Dalton could be enough to keep us in contention.

We had an opportunity to fold tonite but we didn’t.

Dalton played a good game in relief of Dak. Coming in and keeping the offense moving. If you take away the fumble that lead to 7 points, then the game wouldn't have been as close. As far as the last drive goes, I put that on the receivers making big plays moreso than Dalton saving the day. Cooper and Gallop both made game saving catches and runs. Well catch and run for Coop but Gallop had 2 amazing catches on not the best thrown balls. I put the last drive on our receivers but with a week of full time practice I feel Andy will be good going forward.

Now we can focus on running the ball with Elliott with ball control offense setting up play action with Andy who obviously can still make throws downfield.

If we can refrain from turnovers and control time of possession perhaps protecting our defense leaving opponents offense off the field.

This might could work out better than we might imagine.

Are we watching different games? This is the best Dak has looked in his entire career. Thank McCarthy for that

Maybe we are. I am seeing 1-3, no running game, and Dak is done for the season. What are you seeing?

No doubt awesome catches by Gallup but the throws were on the money. For a backup QB that has to be commended. It’s up to our starters to rise up to the occasion which our receivers did. But if the ball isn’t there they can’t make a play.

what does any of those things have to do with Daks development? You’re arguing something different. All I’m addressing is that McCarthy has clearly visibly had an effect on Daks development as a qb this year

Didn’t say anything about being In jeopardy. But he was under huge scrutiny and criticism thus far for the results. That’s basically off the table now.
Under scrutiny and criticism by whom? Not anyone that mattered or whose opinions mattered.

Agreed. And with all the reps now, his improvement will be logarithmic.

Sure. Dak’s stats were up but what did that accomplish?

Dalton didn't lead a come from behind win. He was outscored by the giants. He was spotted a 8 point lead in the 4th quarter and managed 2 FGs. Giants scored 7 points more.

Also the defense finally got a stop on the giants last possession. Almost every other team would have scored or has this season

He set them up for a chip shot FG for the win.
It's about the "W".

True, I agree with you. Dalton and the receivers earned their money on that last drive. Praise for all is warranted. I was pretty impressed with Dalton after he took the sack and from his first play this year and then rebounded with the game he had. He played well.

I do not sense any changes with Dak gone and Dalton in.

The problems has not been offense.

It's defense.

How do you fix that with so many injuries?

We just lost Hill for who knows how long.
Our hope is some of them will return. Much like we saw some improvement in secondary with Lewis returning.
