What to do at backup QB?

they would probably block it. My mindset is that if he worked out as a good backup this year he could step into that role next year behind Dak having a year under his belt and the team would not have to go chase another qb and start over in the offseason.

Would be an ideal situation. A guy with Rosens talent is exactly the type of guy you try to salvage. Especially considering Rosen has never had a good situation to really develop and grow in yet.

You know when Dak went down, Romo had the resist the urge to throw off his blazer, run down to the sideline, and pickup a helmet LOL

I’m surprised Jerry didn’t point at him from the owners box and tell him to get in there !

I imagine Josh Rosen would be on the top of the list along with Kizer. Cooper rush will likely get a look as the Cowboys will need an arm in practices. Need 3 QBs to throw the ball in practice. I imagine teams like TB will protect a QB on the PS to force a trade and not give up someone for free.

I think you’re confusing training camp tempo with normal practices. We all know about the “camp arms” being brought in to get through two a days with 80 people on the roster, but the starting QB usually takes 90% of the practice reps during the regular season, which is why a lot of teams only carry two QBs these days.

Some QBs, like Peyton Manning, were notorious for taking 100% of the regular practice snaps. Dalton is going to need to go full Manning Mode and get every rep available to him. Dude learned a brand new offense on Zoom with no preseason.

Maybe add someone to the practice squad to start absorbing the playbook incase Dalton goes down, but I wouldn’t waste an active roster spot on street free agent QB a third of the way through a lost season.

Only way DiNucci plays is if (1) Dalton is injured, or (2) if Dallas is eliminated from playoff contention.

they need to sign someone with experience at qb and at DT.
They signed 2 people at DT and 1 at qb. Turns out they/we actually need the qb we signed. One DT went on the IR and the other???.... well it turns out he really does suck after all and in the immortal words of Mickey Spagnola, "There's a reason the Panthers let him go..."

I don’t see us going 3-4 over the next two months. It took time expiring FGs to beat two 0-5 teams. That’s with our QB1 playing all but half of this game. Now we’re going to improve with our backup playing?

A late round rookie QB playing behind an OL missing three starters + this defense is a recipe for a once in a generation draft pick.

I don’t disagree with you at all and think we’re going to be lucky to get to 5 wins....but my point was more so the timing on bringing in the backup if they were going to needs to be now Incase we are both wrong and this team ends up doing a little something

I can't see any reason to get some guy off the street. Let DiNucci have his shot at number two. If it gets to him we are finished anyway, might as well see if there is anything there.

Who cares? The season is long since over.
So, you expect all the fans and players and management to roll over and quit? We all know things are tough and not looking good, but if a person doesn't care what would be the point of showing up to this site?
