First off we have to talk about Dak Prescotts injury.

Many of you know that i'm a never pay Dak guy but I felt so bad for him as it was all happening. Dak is a hard worker and he's the leader of this team. He's our guy. Watching that emotion come out of him and how everyone responded was a truly emotional moment.

It was like all the business crap and personal agendas were thrown out the window for a moment. I'm proud of what Dak has done as a 4th round pick for my team. He's a tough dude.

With that said...

I'm ready to see how this Andy Dalton experiment plays itself out.. Will we see a huge drop off at the position?

Some things i'm looking for with Dalton..

1. Does Dalton start games better than Dak? The Cowboys with Dak just always seem to start out slow and these chaotic games always seem to happen because of it.

2. Does the passing game improve? I know you box score nerds have your numbers ready but I want to see if we actually improve our passing game with the ability to attack the entire field. Will back shoulder throws make a return? Do WR's get opportunities to make plays on the ball consistently like Gallup did yesterday when a safety pushes up?

3. Will Amari Cooper stop disappearing on the road?

I just really think that if we can give Dalton decent protection that Dallas shouldn't change their expectations as a team because I don't think they are going to see a huge drop off at the QB position.

Dalton can get Dak like results. We were a bad team with Dak so really we have nowhere to go but up.

Defense:

They are trash.. I don't know what Nolan is doing. When we got some end to end angles we just I could see how the defense was aligned and the gaps that were there and the Giants just kept running into the gaps. It was so simple.

Dontari Poe might be the worst player in the NFL. He needs to be cut today.

Leighton Vander Esch is desperately needed.

Any defender that is celebrating on routine plays after giving up 30+ points is just a moron. I continuously see these guys like Jaylon making routine plays and you would think they won the Superbowl.

Conclusion:

That's really all there is to talk about regarding this game. I hate that we will be a bad team that is also most likely going to be mediocre and not get a premium pick but it is what it is.

Let's see what the Dalton QB experiment looks like and if we are stupid for giving Dak all the money he wants just because we supposedly have to...

Agree on a lot of this stuff, but I'm not nearly as confident in Dalton. Both the player and the protection he'll get. Hopefully the coaches can help out.

Defense is downright nasty. Seeing Jaylon celebrate a 2nd down play was pathetic. Seeing Freeman pick up 9 yds with ease was pathetic. Seeing all of our missed sacks and tackles and picks was pathetic (though we were actually closer to making plays than usual). That was one of the worst offenses in the league (maybe even the worst) and we still couldn't get our **** together.

The team is so beat up. Scrubs on the 2nd level and secondary are killing this defense. There’s moments where they show no heart.

I can’t believe Earl Thomas isn’t even getting a look.

Jerry has said on the radio that they not bringing guys in might have more to do with their future cap situation.

I'm more confident in the weapons around him and I think the guys here in Dallas know the spotlight is on them and will continue to play hard.

Dalton is not a great QB but I think the situation is pretty good here for a QB to thrive and that's with a banged up Oline.

Dak is a better football player than Dalton but I think Dalton may bring some things as a more natural QB that we haven't seen from Dak.

So as we get players back on defense and they improve. And Andy plays well, and we win some games as the defense helps. how bad will the anti Dak'ers be about it. As the defense gives Andy something Dak did not have. IF the defense plays better.

Azuize should be back soon. LVE and Lee not too far away as well.

We still have no resemblance of a fine tuned football team

This is a top down problem

I think JG effect is in full throttle with no end in sight

I will be surprised if we don't see a pretty serious drop off from Dak to Dalton. I hope we don't, but I think we will.

That said, I think we could still win with him. The o-line not looking like a complete dumpster fire gives me hope. If they can get any continuity going, we will win some games. With ANY change in QB, the team would benefit from getting the running game going. It has looked to me like we are a pass-first team for over a year now. A strong running game would help the QB and keep our awful celebrate-every-remotely-positive-play defense off the field.

Going forward, Zeke and the o-line need to be depended on to help Dalton make this offense run.

This defense is awful, but give them credit where credit is due.

The offense essentially gave up 14 points. 7 directly, and 7 indirectly. This was Jaylon and Demarcus's best games and we got a defensive touchdown. AB was gone on that play! They also made the stop to allow Dalton to win it.

They played harder than we've seen in weeks, albeit against a terrible opponent but I'll take it. Definitely a lot of build on before going up against a potentially explosive Arizona offense.

Agreed on Nolan. I have absolutely 0 clue what he is trying to do not only in the run game but agains the pass. It's like they leave a zone uncovered on every play. Some of that is probably on the players and their communication, but the wide open bodies so consistently - since week one - 5-9 yards down the field is a huge problem.

I'm glad I don't care enough to watch All 22's anymore. For those of you who still do it I tip my cap.

It's hard watching these all knowing professional football coaches be such morons.

I mean NYG was just running into Gaps that the Cowboys Dline was creating by their alignment lol.

Dalton is a better west coast QB and that is what Mike McCarthy wants to play. Also, having Dalton should force Dallas to stop being a silly pass first team (which IMHO is why they were losing) to a balanced offense which will stay on the field longer and thus give the defense more time off the field. Just my observations.

The offense will slow down, rely on the run game and attempt to sustain long drives.

But unless the defense can step up and hold teams under 30, I don’t think we win much.

Good news is, some of the guys will be back soon (Awuzie, LVE)

The D is a big problem and I don’t see how you keep Nolan coordinating it. The Dline actually got pressure yet he would chuck it up and complete every time. No one within reach of the WR......

We are going to miss Dak’s command and his movement. I do think Dalton is better at stepping up in the pocket however. I don’t know what to think. It will be interesting to see what he does with a week of practice with the starters. And at least he gets an extra day for MNF. Our WR’s are amazing btw!
