First off we have to talk about Dak Prescotts injury.
Many of you know that i'm a never pay Dak guy but I felt so bad for him as it was all happening. Dak is a hard worker and he's the leader of this team. He's our guy. Watching that emotion come out of him and how everyone responded was a truly emotional moment.
It was like all the business crap and personal agendas were thrown out the window for a moment. I'm proud of what Dak has done as a 4th round pick for my team. He's a tough dude.
With that said...
I'm ready to see how this Andy Dalton experiment plays itself out.. Will we see a huge drop off at the position?
Some things i'm looking for with Dalton..
1. Does Dalton start games better than Dak? The Cowboys with Dak just always seem to start out slow and these chaotic games always seem to happen because of it.
2. Does the passing game improve? I know you box score nerds have your numbers ready but I want to see if we actually improve our passing game with the ability to attack the entire field. Will back shoulder throws make a return? Do WR's get opportunities to make plays on the ball consistently like Gallup did yesterday when a safety pushes up?
3. Will Amari Cooper stop disappearing on the road?
I just really think that if we can give Dalton decent protection that Dallas shouldn't change their expectations as a team because I don't think they are going to see a huge drop off at the QB position.
Dalton can get Dak like results. We were a bad team with Dak so really we have nowhere to go but up.
Defense:
They are trash.. I don't know what Nolan is doing. When we got some end to end angles we just I could see how the defense was aligned and the gaps that were there and the Giants just kept running into the gaps. It was so simple.
Dontari Poe might be the worst player in the NFL. He needs to be cut today.
Leighton Vander Esch is desperately needed.
Any defender that is celebrating on routine plays after giving up 30+ points is just a moron. I continuously see these guys like Jaylon making routine plays and you would think they won the Superbowl.
Conclusion:
That's really all there is to talk about regarding this game. I hate that we will be a bad team that is also most likely going to be mediocre and not get a premium pick but it is what it is.
Let's see what the Dalton QB experiment looks like and if we are stupid for giving Dak all the money he wants just because we supposedly have to...
