Of course fans are going to be harder on a quarterback that is asking for top dollar over a backup. Let Andy ask for it and see what happens? We'd insist on an immediate drug test.

I doubt that this is the only reason for why Dak critics will have double standards between how they judge Dak and how they judge other QBs like Dalton. Are you saying that Dak wouldn't be getting hate if he asked for less money? That there would be zero venom towards him if his contract had been signed for far less than 35 million?

Dalton is still an NFL QB, so if some fans say that he can easily be able to step into Dak's spot without a problem and have the Cowboys offense produce the same, then Dalton should be facing similar criticisms that Dak faced. Can't have it both ways where people insist that the Cowboys will not miss a step with Dalton and then have Dalton get free passes and be cut slack if he plays poorly or if the Cowboys production on offense decline with him as QB.

They acted the same way when Dak was making bottom dollar. Money was no factor, it has just recently been something they pivoted to in a long line of complaints and zero compliments.

People will always have complaints. But it's 100 times worse when big money is involved because it's a commitment.

You're always going to see player critique. It's just much worse when big money is involved. A certain expectation comes with that.

Who are the major pieces you see complained about the most? We have multiple threads on the under achieving Ewok and how he shouldn't have been paid, as opposed to maybe one thread on how Pollard is a disappointment. Let pollard demand an extension and see what happens.

I wish all the best for Dak still i am happy we finally have a starting caliber QB.
I find it interesting that somebody else's trash is now all of a sudden the idol for many Dak detractors.....

Don't disagree, but with them is was all complaints all the time and no compliments ever. There was no objectivity. Money wasn't a factor for them to begin their crusade. Money shouldn't be a factor in holding Dalton to those same impossible standards. They don't get a free pass to become rational over the QB again because the person they hate is no longer taking the snaps.

I'm not one that believes Dak should get a 35m a year contract, but Dalton is not an upgrade. That terrible toss to Cooper should have been a pick 6 if the corner could catch.

You could also tell on one drive they were protecting Dalton by calling screens and runs. Nothing down the middle of the field. The last two passes were nice. But you can tell he was not comfortable.

I realize he was thrown into the fire. So I'll give the guy a chance.
I think that one drive was letting him get his feet wet. I’m anxious to see how the game plan looks after they have a week of prep Plus this is the kind of Qb mike is used to coaching

Goes both ways :) Will it be everyone's fault except Dalton's now?

That's equally foolish.

How about objectively looking at how a game is won or lost, as opposed to constantly looking to push one's agenda. Ooops, sorry, forgot what I was for a moment.

If you read your post again, you'll understand why people act like they do..you,see the wonderful stats, most see the team was 1-3..stats don't mean anything without the wins, even Dak said it.

Get out of here with that. If you've been here this entire time, then you've also watched Dak haters continually move the goal posts on what qualifies Dak as a good QB. Can't read the field (yep, turns out he can). Can't throw over the middle (yep, turns out he can). Not accurate (actually very accurate). Can't throw deep (really wrong). Can't go over 200 yds passing (he he he). Can't come back (oops, wrong again). And so on and so on.

There have been probably +20 reasons why Dak isn't good enough to be the starting QB for the Cowboys, and every single has been proven wrong. It's complete and utter BS.

He was a great value QB. Not a elite cap cost QB.

How about beating winning teams? He didn't this year, and we all know how last year went.

I hope Dalton plays good enough for the Cowboys to win but I'm not going to hold my breath. Lets look at the two passes he threw that actually decided the game. His last two to Gallup. If Gallup didn't make just great unbelievable catches the Cowboys would have headed to OT and no guarantee of a win. Another important pass was a 3rd down and Cooper had to make a tough catch.

I hope Dalton does well but he has a history of throwing a lot of picks, He's had seasons with 13, 14, 16, 17 and 20 picks.

Hmmm, yes, that's one of the rare things that Dak hasn't overcome yet. Single-handedly beating entire teams with a better record than the Cowboys, when coached by Jason Garrett and his team of super scrub coaches (literally former players promoted to the coaching staff), 4 different DCs, 3 different OCs, that special teams coach who used to be a scout, and how many other players in the starting lineup who are now out of the league?!

Love that the win/loss has become synonymous with the QB, when in fact it takes the entire team and organization to put together a contender.

Romo and Dak have one thing in common. Making boneheaded throws to end games. That matters.

People don't realize he was a pro bowler...but he was. This could be your comeback player of the year...As for yesterday...as soon as he got on the field...the offense changed....it was much smoother. Players didn't have to stop their routes to catch passes. I think the sky is the limit for him.
