Booger says that under Marinelli and Richard they graded players play each game.

That now under McCarthy and Nolan..

that has been eliminated.

Booger says this removes accountability from players and coaches.

Players do not know where they are in their play.

This was amazing to me. I think I would prefer knowing what I am being judged by myself.

You guys?

What do you think?

If you screw up too much, and get benched, you know you are at the grade of F.
That is all they need to know.

Actually grading grown men after each game seems a bit grade school. Some or many may take offense to that.
Threat them as men, and correct things and point them out in film sessions.

Red did he say removing accountability was a GOOD thing?

Am I reading that right?

If so...why is that? Think I'm missing the context.

I think most teams high school, college, and pro grade their players. It seems odd they wouldn't, especially on the defensive side of the ball, but maybe that's why xavier woods thinks it's OK to take plays off.

FWIW, I think this came up before a few years ago. Other teams don't "grade" their players either after games. Some do, some don't.

I don't think this is much of a story.

Grading is not the same as watching tape, evaluating and pointing out mistakes or poor play.

they may just not assign number or letter grades to the evaluations.

If they tell a player “on this play, you didn’t do this when you should have done that. You can’t do that it hurts the team”.

that’s not grading them. But it’s holding them accountable.

Bucky Brooks said something similar on The Break last week. They actually had stat sheets that talked about their effort, plays when they “loafed” and missed assignments, etc. It helped with accountability.

accountability is a HUGE problem with the cowboys and it start with jerry. when the gm has ZERO accountability because he also is the owner how can any one else?

We used to grade players, took about 3 hours, with the technology we have with film nowadays, there really isn't a need for it. The film doesn't like!
