Good! Sounds like he will be back for the superbowl. At that point we have to roll with Dalton though right?

Valid point...we can only wait and see. His salary will be greatly reduced next season due to the uncertainty. He’ll probably get a 10 million dollar salary with 10 million in incentives.
No, he!ll get the Tag again with is a 20% raise...

If you mean how much to pay him, I would think the 2nd tag range would be close.

This from SI Albert Breer

https://www.si.com/nfl/2020/10/12/mmqb-week-5-covid-19-jenga-schedule-dak-prescott-injury

So that’s now. As for what’s ahead, the Cowboys can, and probably will, tag him again next year. Thing is, it’ll cost $37.69 million to do it, in a year in which the cap could fall all the way down to $175 million. And while that might be a nice way to hold his rights and see how his injury is coming along before waving in the Brink’s trunk, it’s important to remember that not doing a deal at that point will almost certainly mean unfettered free agency for Prescott in 2022. That’s because it’d cost the team $54.27 million to tag him at that point.

That would average out to 40M per over 3 seasons on the tag with only 1 season at a time guaranteed. That's not a bad deal for the team.

Even if it’s the dreaded Trimalleolar fracture, he’ll be walking in a boot in 7 weeks. I wish Rayne all the best in his rehab and future career on a team other than the Cowboys.

BTW, pretty incredible that the these millionaires get surgery within hours of an injury when regular people merely get it stabilized and wait up 2 weeks for that exact surgery.........they are really the oppressed.

It’s no wonder people have the nonsensical beliefs they do about healthcare in this country.

EVERYONE gets immediate surgery for the injury he had.

Lol at people who that was career ending
Not sure what you are implying as I don't know anyone ok with him being injured. I even have a friend who is a diehard Eagle fan hating to see Dak injured.
That being said, there are no guarantees he will be the same, but I am very glad to hear this. Best you will get this early

2 thoughts I have. 1. I think another poster asked this question and I didn't see an answer. But was it a clean break or was there ligament or tendon damage as well. Does anyone know. 2. I'm kind of happy this happened this year for Dak instead of last year. I'm glad he guaranteed 31 million. If this happened last year then he would have been screwed. At least now he had 16-19 million after taxes in his pocket. I'm glad he got some money before this happened and hopefully he understands why Tom Brady took less so his teams could afford to be competitive. But overall I'm glad he got some money in his pocket before this injury. I'd feel terrible for the guy if this happened without any big money guaranteed.

We don’t know yet. He just came back from the hospital yesterday according to sources. We probably won’t know the full extent of his injury for a while now. Just give it sometime. Hopefully it’s just a clean break. We want to avoid any torn/overstretched ligaments and tendons, and I really really hope he didn’t damage any nerves or blood vessels. Him going home this early could be seen as a good sign, at least from what I think.

And yes, it’s better this year than in years past. 31+ mil is better than the “chicken scrap” (football wise) he was getting paid before.

I will say that surgery going smoothly is a major bonus but being a fan of the Celtics and seeing Gordon Hayward’s recovery- i will tell you these estimates mean nothing. So much more can happen from here, infection, setback requiring another surgery. 4-6 months is the ideal timeline.

while I wouldn’t say something like his career is over at all, I would say proceed with extreme caution. These timelines set up unrealistic expectations and even if he crushes every hurdle on time it’s a whole different story of him getting back to elite nfl level.
It’s probably gonna take him half to all of next season to really feel even close to himself.

You’re talking about 2022 season when he is playing pre-injury form IMO

Thanks for the insight on the injury. What you said makes sense. Him going home early is a sign of less complicated injury. And yes big sigh of relief for him that the money this year. He's a good dude and I would have felt horrible for him if he had this injury last year and it ended his career and he's broke in a couple years.
