I doubt that Andy is in the Cowboys' future. If Dak does not look to be ready for the 2021 season, do we draft a QB high? Somewhere in the first few rounds?

The draft is nearly 7 months from now, if Dak is still struggling at that point it will be due to significant post-op complications to the point his career would be up in the air. If he has a normal post-op course he will be fine by then.

The handwriting was already on the wall when he wasn’t signed long term. This injury means little to nothing to the FO because he was to be replaced........the injury just gives them a little more cover from the media and emotional Dak fans when he gets replaced

They will know where Dak is by the NFL draft. If all the projections are correct he will be well into strength and flexibility part of his rehab by the draft. If they do not have a "time table" for his return by the draft that means something bad happened either not all the damage got fixed or it has not healed properly as expected.

Dak will be ready. He had an open ankle fracture dislocation. The risk of infection is low because he had surgery to wash out the wound within 24 hours of the bone breaking the skin and he received the appropriate IV antibiotics. In addition, he had one of the best foot and ankle guys help out in the surgery, so he had any ankle ligaments augemented or repaired. This fracture was different than Thiesman or Alex Smith's fractures. Dak should expect a full recovery and the rehab for an ankle fracture is no where near what an ACL requires.

If this injury was a neck or back injury, we should be fearful.

I think you could make a case that they should draft a long-term backup in the middle rounds, but otherwise I don't think the injury influences the draft at all.
