Nobody is but I'm just saying the obvious that Dak and Zeke were helping make a sorry D look even worse.

Given that Dalton's INT percentage over his career is a full percentage point higher than Dak's we might be in for a lot more making the sorry D look worse. I firmly believe Zeke will not fumble again this year. Interceptions happen to the best of QBs so I expected Dak to throw 5 or 6 more this season. And with the state of the offensive line another sack fumble or two was probably in the cards. Simply put, the whole team is going to have to elevate in order to win games with Dalton because while the dropoff is not Romo to Weeden or Romo to Brad Johnson.. it's probably more Romo to Orton.. Or more recently Wentz to Foles.

Dak will pocket 31 million dollar this season and collect on whatever insurance policy he had with Lloyd's of London if he never plays again. His family is set. Dak not only never has to play another down in the NFL but he never has to work another day in his life after what he will earn this year. You are correct though that his agent screwed up the negotiations with the Joneses. The Joneses are really proud really rich people and they will be really proud and really rich whether Dak signed or not. So there was little or nothing to be gained by playing games with them the way the agent did. Especially if the reports are true that they had agreed on a deal and then the agent reneged on it at the 11th hour. It would be fitting if Dak fired his *** BEFORE signing his long term deal so he collects zero, zilch, nada in commission on it.

You're like so many that see that 31.1 mil and think boy he's set for life but fail to understand some very simple things. First he has to pay federal tax on that money PLUS 1/2 of those weekly paychecks have state taxes from all the states that have state income taxes where the Cowboys play. Then there's his agents cut right off the top of that 31.1 mil. I'm sure Prescott's mortgage payments are MANY MANY MANY times more than yours or anyone's here. He's also been buying houses for several of his family members. So when all the money that is going out is subtracted from that 31.1 mil there's nowhere near the money you think there is. Yes it would be really great for me and you but I have the expenses of someone making 30K a year.

Also the negotiating in the last hour or so was with Prescott not France and Jerry and Stephen came to an agreement with Prescott on the salary amount but they ran out of time trying to get the guaranteed amount done. There have been some in the sporting world that have said that Prescott will tell France that if the Cowboys off a certain amount to take it or he'll fire France. There's,also some in the sporting world that have said if Prescott took over his negotiations sooner that a contract would have been done. There's also been some talk that the agency that France works for aren't happy with him for the way he handled Prescott and they may be going to sever ties with him.

Are you an esol student? None of what you're saying makes sense. Speak to me in your native language and I'll google translate because English isn't your strong suit either smh. That was the answer Zo. If the Cowboys really believed the words they were saying he'd be signed.

I'm sorry that English is you 4th or 5th language and you don't understand a lot of the words, but maybe someone can explain it to you. You are to stuck on the idea that the Cowboys control every aspect of contract negotiations so it's senseless to continue trying to discuss this with you so don't bother to reply because I'll just ignore.

Dak being stupid enough to spend everything he makes doesn't mean the amount isn't enough to set one for life.

Thank the good people I don't have to worry about replies from a Dak worshipper anymore. If we weren't living in the times we are I'd go out and grab a drink at the local bar.

Putting all the taxes and agent fee he has to pay aside, if all he was doing was worrying about himself and is immediate family that money would last longer, but because of the type of person Prescott is and wanting to take care of some of his extended family I'll bet that if it turned out that he never played again that he would say he wouldn't of not taken care of his extended family. He did that thinking he's doing the right thing for his relatives and he'll make enough money in the future to take care of himself. If he was doing like some players and buying up a bunch of exotic cars and sending relatives to Vegas for weekends you would be right.

I see no situation where the Cowboys don't franchise tag Dak, or a scenario where Dak wouldn't immediately sign a franchise tag.
I think you got crossed up. He still Todd France from what I've saw

Yea I looked and I don't see anything like that now. I did see something about France leaving CAA. Might have just mixed that up.

When the same 3 people keep saying the same thing it's pretty tough not to believe what they are saying. I'll ask you the same question. Do you not believe what's being said because it goes against what you think?
.
.

Everyone has heard the rhetoric from the Dallas front office. How Prescott is the one. He is the future. He'll be a Cowboy for life. Two plus years of words, but no action. Nada.

So now they keep spouting the same thing. The public has been misled, but we are now supposed to believe what is being said is the truth. I don't think so. Stop talking and let's see some action. No more words.

After two years of hollow words you should not blindly accept what your being told. That's not an agenda.

It’s a bit different since Wentz got injured in week 14 or so, he was having an MVP season and the eagles were on their way to being the #1 seed, they knew he was their future. In hindsight, was it a good decision I’m not sure but it was the right one at the moment.
The question is, what happens if Dalton plays great and we get to the divisional playoffs or more after starting the season 1-3 with Dak? I do think the FO would have to have a conversation on what to do with the Dak/Dalton matter... no other way around it.
Yes. I don’t see how they could avoid it.

People saying it can’t happen need to think back on the Romo situation.

I have seen multiple threads of how Prescott should or shouldn't get paid next year.

The incredible twist now is how Andy Dalton and the team does the rest of the year will go a long ways to deciding his future and Prescott's with Dallas.

Scenario 1: Dallas doesn't win division or make playoffs. I think Dalton doesn't return and Prescott is franchised or signed long term.

Scenario 2: Dallas wins the division, but loses in wildcard round. I think Dalton is used as leverage against Prescott. If Prescott doesn't sign a team friendly deal, Dallas then signs Dalton to a 2 to 3 year deal at 20 million per(like Bridgewater) till the next quarterback is found. Prescott is exclusively tagged. If there are no takers before free agency the tag is rescinded and Prescott becomes free agent(should net 3rd round pick).

Scenario 3: Dallas wins divison and wins more than one playoff game. Dallas is now between a rock and a hard place. Dalton gets resigned, but his asking price just went up north of 25 million per. Dallas uses exclusive tag on Prescott, but if there are no takers, hits free agency. Same as scenario 3.

Scenario 4: Dallas wins SB. Dalton is signed to a long term deal(four years)and Prescott is done in Dallas.

The only scenario I see that Prescott comes back is Dallas not having a successful 2020. The more success Dallas has, the chances Prescott comes back drops with each victory.

Ironically, Prescott has to root against Dallas for his future in Dallas.
I dont think so man, Daks the guy I'm pretty sure. They will pick the younger guy who's better . Dalton is who he is at this point. Dak has improved yearly

Scenario 1 is going to happen. Well I feel very strongly it'll happen. With Dak as our QB we were going to be 6-10. Without Dak we most likely be 3-13. Let's not forget that our 2 victories came at the expense of the 2 worst teams in the league and we barely beat them by last second heroics. If we win the division it'll be a shock, if we win a playoff game will be a bigger shock, if we win the SB it will be the most incredible story in sports history. They'll make a lifetime or hallmark movie about our season if we win the SB. It'll be one of those inspirational movies that is shown as an afterschool special.
Get ready to shocked then. We are winning the NFCE. This team will get better as time goes on.

You think if Dalton gets hurt you will see the response that happened when Dak got hurt, not a chance. Dak is a leader of men and the leader of America's team for the next 8-10 years. Stop kidding yourself.......

Responses and leadership is all fun and good but when do results come with Dak?

Our team was awful this year and even with his numbers he helped contribute to the awfulness.

Let's say that Andy is 9-2 for the rest of the season. We win 2 playoff games - Wildcard and NFC divisional , but we lose in the NFC championship game.

Honestly, I don't see this happening unless our defense can create occasional stops and frequent turnovers.

But, if Andy takes us to the NFC championship game and we barely lose, do you franchise Dak and resign Dalton while hoping to trade one Dak or Dalton for a 1st or 2nd round pick or do we just blindly go with Dak and punt Dalton?

There were post that Prescott was going to be extended in 2018. Didn't happen.

Prescott was going to sign a long term deal last year. Didn't happen.

Deadlines make deals. July 15th nothing.

Now Prescott is out for the year. And what I'm hearing is that no matter what success Dalton and the team have Prescott will be the quarterback next year, no doubt. It's these absolutes that I question because there are always options.

Stop thinking as a fan and think like a team. It's business.
Some fans get to emotionally involved. There like children. When has being wrong over and over ever stoped a child.

That's an interesting scenario. What if Dak signs the tag?

38mil guaranteed to Dak. Lotta cheddar. Could easily be the top offer for a guy coming off that injury. 20mil to Dalton. That's a whole lotta cap. I'm not sure when cap enforcement starts in a league year, but the moment it does, we're screwed.

Can't sign both. Can't tag both. Don't think we can sign one and tag the other either.

Assuming Dalton plays like a credible starter, when either guy leaves next year, we're getting the max comp pick for him.

I don't disagree, but the Romo situation was different. Romo was at the end of his career and was injury prone.

Biggest difference: had Dak on a peanuts rookie contract for 3 more years. That changes everything. Tony was even under contract.

This time, bot Dak and Dalton will be free agents. Totally different scenario.

After factoring in the injury Dak will certainly sign a reasonable deal, and the Cowboys will certainly offer one.

If they have to tag him first, likely he's perfectly happy to play on the tag at 38mil and bet on himself through to free agency. That's the plan I thought he had before the injury, and despite the injury, he could remain totally on course with that plan.

Lol. Dak's the franchise quarterback for years to come. Hypothetically speaking, should Dalton take this team to the promised land, he'll just be another Foles.
Herbert, a rookie, is already 10 times better at evading pressure than the “franchise QB” is. Dak’s PP is atrocious.

I agree different scenarios but I think the scenarios are being viewed incorrectly. Romo was already under contract. We knew Romo was a top 10 QB but his injuries b/w 2013-2016 freaked us out. Dak was an unproven rookie who was playing lights out behind the best arguably one of best offensive lines in our franchises history, a top 3 RB , and a legit receiving arsenal.

Romo also still counted 10.7 million and 8.9 million against the Salary cap in 2017 and 2018. Even though we paid Dak peanuts, we were still paying ~ 10 million to the QB position. Did we make the right decision?

Our situation is that we know what Prescott is...he is a good to great QB that can win your NFC east division but is mediocre against playoff caliber defenses and teams. We know what Dalton is...another good 3rd tier QB.

If 40 million vs 15 million only nets you 1 more win while the extra 25 million could be spent on an elite corner back and and a good/great DT or S such as Jalen Ramsey and Cameron Heyward or Simmons. It's a no brainer to spend the salary cap dollars to bring more wins.
