I don't consider trading Wilson for a 4th a "fire sale".

The other 3 mentioned; Zeke for 2 firsts, Cooper and Tank aren't a fire sale, those would be under consideration regardless.
Lol, no one is giving up a first for zeke, let alone 2 firsts.

Agree, that was suggested in the OP. But if somebody did, Jerry would be all over that whether or not he was in "rebuilding" mode.

Ahhhh...gotchya. He should be all over just a 2nd if someone were to offer him that.

i wish they would because i honistly so not believe this core will ever win any thing. u can rebuild in 3-4 years in the nfl it is not like baseball or what ever where u have to wait forever for players to develop!

Gallup needs to stay and Cooper with his massive contract needs to go.

Normally, Gallup would require approximately the same cap in a couple of years. #2s tend to be particularly overvalued in free agency. We overpaid for TWill, and thought we got a good deal on it.

And then Gallup's contract would come with a chunk of guaranteed money. At that point, none of Cooper's money will be guaranteed.

Cooper is the guy teams double. Gallup is the guy they'll leave isolated. Defenses have spoken on their relative value.

Bet we keep Cooper, and go with Cooper, Lamb, and Wilson, if we don't pick up someone next year. Wilson is looking good.

If only we could look into the future! LOL
Ok This is my thought process.

I have to ask myself is this team good enough to go to the SB and Win it?
MY answer is NO
There is so many good things that has happened and the future looks bright.
Diggs He is a keeper
Cee DEEE Is the future.
Our OL young guys are getting some playing time and experience. They really havent looked that bad considering that this year we are running a line that is without FreeBeard, Collins and Smith
Those are some big shoes to fill and we have played some descent Defense The true test is going to be here on out because Andy isnt Dak and opposing teams dont have to worry that he is going to take off and run.
Im not saying that we should Tank because we are still in this thing and thats funny as heck lol
After losing Dak we are about to find out just how good Dak is for this team.

Defense Oh My is just so horrible it is really hard for me to watch without getting pissed off. Im just not sure even when we get LVE LEE and Chido back that we will be any better. The DL that we thought would be a strength for us has been MIA I just dont have any faith in Nolan. Hate the hire just hate it and there are a few DC out there that can come in here and do a better job IMO. Not this year though.
Im trying to give Nolan the benefit of the doubt because really its been an off season with not much time to implement his system So Im trying to be rational
My question is should we try to trade for any one at this time or try to wait it out and build the DL, Secondary through the draft?
I really dont want to give up any of my top 3 picks unless its someone young that can come in and not cost us big $$$
We have some good draft picks and if Dallas loses five or more games I would look to trade players for more draft picks if they are not in my future plans.
No WAY am I giving up Gallup unless he nets me a 1st to a losing team and I would still be weary. I would like to see what this Offense can do when healthy and having a true off season and training camp.
Gallup and Cee Dee are our future 1 and 2 with Cooper being the odd man out.
Now if for some miracle Dallas goes on a 9 game win streak then thats different but by that time the trade dead line will have passed.
Guys that I would consider trading and this would hurt is Noah and Cedrick Wilson If I could get a 4th for Wilson I would do it.

I dont want to sound like the season is over cause there is still some football left. I just dont like what I am seeing with this defense that gives me any hope. For goodness sake Heath had an INT yesterday and I missed him thats so sad!
Unless Daks injury could be career ending we are going to have some money tied up with him Dak has shown me that he is the franchise QB and he has done nothing but work his butt off to improve his game. I am a Dak believer!

If I could get a couple of 1's for Zeke Now I would do that in a heart beat. I would even consider trading Tank if I see that he is not going to adjust and improve in this defense. If they decide to stick with Nolan.

Personally I would love to see Nolan being fired by years end and bring someone like Mike Zimmer in if he is fired. Leslie Frazier, Jim Schwartz. Not to sound rude but Floaty could come in and do a better job with this defense. lol

This seems like a sincere thread which I appreciate.

Having said that just keep in mind that 99% of fan/media proposed trades are bad ideas.

It would take multiple 4th round picks to find 2 more players like Wilson/Brown. The success rate is very low for 4th and later round picks.

Players are almost always worth more to their current team than another team is willing to pay unless the player just does not fit with the current team/coaches.

The primary way to get something for a player is by trading a star player in the final year of their contract that the team is not going to re-sign.

If the Cowboys have any star players they need to keep them not trade them away.

and yet the only way to get to a SB is by 1st making the playoffs. I doubt anyone after 5 games is ready to throw in the towel except for a few around here who were throwing in the towel before the season started. lol Because your projection of how the remainder of the season will go does not mean everyone is going to share that view.
Not a projection. You're completely misreading this.

Our D is not good enough to get us to the super bowl. Hands down. If you believe it is, maybe it's your projection that is flawed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, a fire sale worked for the Dolphins! They are 5-0 and dominating!

Oh wait, they still suck. Never mind.
Phins are starting to look good, and are improving. You picked a bad example. They also have at least an extra 1st and 2nd next year, so it's way to early to judge them anyway.

You really cant have a fire sale 6 weeks into a season with pretty much everything new.......

only person that can be considered for firing is Nolan
That's actually about the only time. Trading deadline is November 3rd.

We do this every year w/ Jerry. Grasp on to the teensiest hope and wait until too late, then we're left w/ cheap FA's.

pretty sure Gallup is the only player we can trade that won't be here next year that a contender would want.
Gallup will still be under his rookie contract next season. He’s going to be here next year.

So, Dallas has him the rest of this season and all of next season on the cheap. By the time he is up for a new contract, Cooper will be at the point in his where it wouldn’t be hard for the team to get out of his deal. At that point, they can decide if they want Cooper or Gallup to team with Lamb going forward. If they decide to keep Gallup, they can then trade Cooper.

It gives them options and with Gallup still on his 3rd round rookie deal next season, there is zero reason to trade one of their best young players right now.

I don’t think they are going after Trevor Lawrence so no reason to have a fire sale, but they could offload some players. Also they’ve already mess up up getting a top pick by winning the onsides Game and Dak goes down game. 0-5 and I’m thinking about the top pick. Now would be a good time to firesale because well it’s tanking to rebuild next year. Positions I would look at offloading

WRs
Gallup -1st
Cooper - I don’t know with his salary
Wilson - He was looking like a #1 WR
(I would try to keep Gallup and Wilson)

DL
Crawford - big salary prob can’t trade him
Lawrence - prob not tradable he’s not playing up to his contract

OC
Kellen Moore - 3rd he’s viewed as having a good playbook in a high scoring offense. Other teams want an explosive offense.

Im not seeing much that’s tradable.

How bout draft better and if you're going free agency, spend some damn money. Our offensive line is the only offensive problem, and our defense plus scheme sucks. So if you're keeping Nolan, expect us to suck.

Before people start talking about fire sales, they first should take a look at player contracts. In doing so, you will find out that the Cowboys have locked themselves in to virtually every high profile, big money player on the team. They couldn't trade any of them even if they wanted to. This is exactly the problem when you operate a 'kick the can' accounting system, you borrow from the future and end up stuck with bad contracts and no way to get out of them.

At this moment you are right, defense can't continue to play like this and fans be able to expect to win. However the NFL season is more than 5 weeks. You can give up on the team that is your choice I really do not care. How some fans feel has no bearing what so ever on my views so do yourself a favor give up and go watch something else.
