I go in to every season excited. That's pretty natural if ya ask me. This one especially. Oh well. Back to seeing stars rather than wearing them.
There’s nothing wrong with a renewed optimism ever year. That is very common and natural state of mind as long as your expectations aren’t set on the over hype and selling by our ownership instead of recent history and results.

I'm honestly perplexed. I think the
this team has a lot of talent. Just no cohesion. Maybe because they draft BAP, instead of drafting a fit for scheme? Who knows.

We all want to Ace the test. But if you’re a C student you really shouldn’t expect to ace the test while you continue to strive for that goal.

A more reasonable goal would be to make a B first. Then reset your goals from there with better results moving forward.

We have some elite talent on offense in a few key positions. Beyond that it’s very limited. Especially on defense.

Sounds like many others, you’ve bought into the hype.

I disagree, brother. I think this team has decent talent on defense. Most these corners are great at man coverage, but we play loads of zone due to the lack of help in the middle. It seems like Nolan is forcing players out of position to fit his scheme regardless of the results.

Lee and LVE have been pro bowlers, and when gregory is actually on the field he has played at that level. Cheeto was a starting corner.

Not to mention it is a new defensive scheme and coordinator, and they had no preseason games. You don't think they will improve from just playing more, not to mention the people coming back?
LVE was a Pro Bowler his rookie year when he actually deserved it. He played like crap last year and that was before his injury, we have no idea what we’ll get this year.

Smith?!! LOL! We all know the Pro Bowl is nothing but a popularity contest to begin with and he happens to play for the most popular team. Can you honestly tell me he deserved to be in the Pro Bowl last year? Even some of the biggest homers on this site will admit that was a joke.

“When Gregory was on the field.” You can say that about a lot of players but until proven otherwise it’s a big stretch to assume they’ll be the same or an upgrade. I’ve been hearing that same crap every year but it’s always different player. Weren’t Griffen and Poe supposed to be big upgrades from Quinn and Collins? How’s that working out?

No, based on Nolans track record, I don’t think they will improve “that” much. As far as every “no pre season game” excuses goes, that applies to every team. In other words, we just barely beat the worst offense in the league. Jaylon and Dlaw put up some nice numbers against the WORST offense in the league. According to your philosophy, shouldn't they improve as well thus nullifying our improvements?

Rams also barely beat the Giants. Raiders just beat the Chiefs. Seattle barely beat us.

it’s a strange league, an odd year, and we’ve got some horses.
Hope you're right. Obviously! I just don't agree. We have miniature ponys

Not every team got a new defensive scheme and coordinator. Not having preseason games makes a difference for everyone, but I find it hard to believe you can't grasp why it would be harder on the cowboys.

Francis Bernard played some LB last game, so the coaches are going to mix things up. LVE and Lee make the LB's better. Jaylon might not even be on the field all the time.

I bet Gregory improves the DL, and Cheeto was a starting corner and however they use him, he will help the CB's

This isn't the Giants who had a great defense, and got healthy in the stretch. This is the Cowboys. I hate to ruin the optimistic crowd here, but there's no Superbowl in this teams near future.

So now, what? What do we need to head in the right direction? Trades, off-season acquirement, cuts, and the like. What are your expectations moving forward, or are you still full of Jerry hype, and believe that we can still pull it off? Discuss.

Jerry needs to sell the team or fire himself. He sucks as GM.

Our DL suks and our LB are injury riddled. Our secondary has potential but suspect and left out to dry without pressure up front. End result is 30th in the league. One of the worst in Cowboys history.

there's not a skill group in the league better than amari, gallup, ceedee and zeke. not one. not the chiefs, not anyone. definitely horses.
