The defense has set my expectations after the first five weeks, Didn’t really need to be tempered by Jerry.

I know Andy's expectations are high wearing #14 in Dallas.

Who's fault are the turnovers? Zeke has 1 fumble for every 30 carries this year so far. He has fumbled the ball 3 times so far. Dak has thrown 4 interceptions and fumbled the ball 3 times. Yes, one was a strip sack vs Clev. and maybe one or two might be on the OL.

Dalton fumbled a snap in a game he came in the 3rd quarter and was working with a rookie playing his second game. Schultz fumbled (after getting punched in the head by the Atlanta player.)

Most of the turnovers are on Zeke and Dak being careless with the ball and not concentrating. I understand QBs have to take a risk sometimes and some interceptions are understandable especially when trailing.

The players are responsible for not turning the ball over. RBs should not fumble. Zeke's fumbles are inexcusable. Some of Dak's turnovers were inexcusable.

The way the Cowboys have been turning the ball over is because the players are not paying attention and playing sloppy. The players are responsible for fixing it themselves.
And as many have pointed out it puts extra burden on the defense, especially when it's on a short field. The Cowboys defense came up on the Fox pregame show and I agree with Jimmy. He said two thirds of our salary cap is spent on the offense and we only have one first round pick on defense who is out with injury. Things won't get better until they upgrade the talent.

That's the real measure. You are what you are.

That cliché is more appropriate at the completion of a full season. I think most of us are subdued about forecasting deep playoff sunshine this season but I for one will be happy if we just keep improving. Injuries have been devastating particularly for our team in transition during a pre-cautionary COVID-19 year.

Hopefully by the end of the season it will have a different connotation than it does right now.

Jerry said the same thing when Bill Parcels made the decision to change his starting QB from Drew Bledsoe to Tony Romo.

https://www.myplainview.com/news/article/Jones-Going-to-Romo-disappointing-because-it-8610857.php

The change has forced Jones to lower his expectations for this season. He and coach Bill Parcells frequently said during the summer they thought this team could be "special," their code word for a team that could go deep in the playoffs.

Now?

"I have to be a realist," he said. "I hadn't thought or hoped that we'd be sitting here after the sixth game making these adjustments. … I did not want to this year go to an inexperienced quarterback. I wanted to have the benefit of Drew Bledsoe. It hasn't worked out as of today. It just hasn't worked out. That to me is a step back."

Jerry, I got news for you. This season I lowered my expectations after the first Ram drive on opening day.......but nice analysis.

Forget the quarterback, we have a defense that can't stop anybody. We just 'pulled it out' having to 'outscore' the worst offense in the league 37-34!

If we can't show some semblance of stopping anything or anybody, it won't matter who the quarterback is.

Dak was playing out of his mind and we were still fortunate not to be winless.
Yep. If our Defense can’t stop anyone then every game is a shootout and that’s Daks game, not sure about Dalton.

I will say that I knew the giants were not going to be a push over they had been playing a little better and it’s a divisional game and those are always harder.

I was ready for Garrett and Rod to go but we look like a worse coached team under MM/Nolan. And yes I know there has been lots of injuries this year.

Well our next 3 opponents have a combined win total of 4, I expect everyone to look good, especially the defense.

The question is will it carry over to the better teams because so far it hasn’t. We have 2 wins we barely eeked out over two winless teams.

Those high expectations of the Dak era, one 1st round playoff win, mediocre seasons, and 2-3 this year? What exactly does Jerrah think we expect from any organization he runs?

Exactly! QB play is not going to determine this season. Dak was playing his best ever. Andy will be fine. Even the beaten up OL can find a way to be average. We have 3 losses and 2 last second miracle wins because our defense is atrocious. If the offense scores 30 every week, we will still finish under .500 if the defense doesn’t find a way to stop the other team.

Did he really say "incremental" or is that a misquote?
Same syllables and letters as instrumental (ish) that seem right means it's a green light to use (esp with valium and scotch cocktails) :D I see politicians do this sometimes too, like hey, the word feels right "enough" so I'm going with it.

I have certainly adjusted mine.

And not for the better
I have no doubt Andy can operate this offense and put up enough points to win
The question is can the defense hold opponents to a score that’s reasonable to expect our offense to get
Averaging 34 a game is not a reasonable score given up by the defense to expect your offense to beat
