Who are you eyeing with pick #14?

Man...that's a tough question.

In a perfect world, I'd unload all of this year's 1st's (#14, #26 & #30) along w/ Semi, Hayward & Poirier for either Gobert or Hield plus a few toss ins.

Now, if Danny can unload all of this year's picks for an unprotected, top 10, pick in the 2022 draft, I'd do it in a second as 2022 will be stacked.

If Danny is forced/or chooses to keep #14, I'd be looking @ either Precious Achiuwa or Vernon Carey. Both are extremely young/raw, need a lot of coaching & wouldn't contribute next year but they both have size and that's, obviously, a huge need.

I think we can definitely afford the Romeo Langford approach to the draft. We dont need to have a player that is going to come right in and contribute. Langford will probably be a fixture in the long run, especially once Hayward leaves. At 14 we can afford to take a player that may either only get in during garbage time or as an injury sub, as long as he can be like Timelord and Langford. Both of those guys will probably be playing 20 minutes a game next year

Ive heard Heilds name mentioned before. Like the player, but I dont know that we need another pure score. With Hayward you get a guy that offers a ton of utility with his scoring ability. With his ability on defense and off the ball on offense, he makes it alot easier to have 4 guys capable of 20ppg+ a game. An iron fist like Gobert or a versitle big like Myles Turner would he my preference if you are moving Hayward

Absolutely. And regardless of how he does it, Danny needs to find a legit back-up PG and a vet scorer who they can go to to create his own shot. Once two of Tatum, Brown, & Kemba were on the bench, the O went completely stale and it was like pulling teeth to find someone to create a shot. Don't know about you but I NEVER want to see Semi in a game until he learns to drive to the basket. The entire league knows where he will be on the floor when the C's have the ball. Behind the 3-point line & ready to jack up a 3 as soon as the ball touches his hands. Grant it, he does make some but he annoys me either way. As for Wannamaker, I'll allow for my blood pressure to drop before addressing what he does/doesn't do that drives me to drink...more.

Im really hoping Semi becomes more of a niche matchup play on defense.

We're considered title contenders, so we should be able to get a solid vet PG for the MLE or vet min ala Eddie House

I agree. My heart would love to see the little guy back in Boston and backing up Kemba but my brain knows that the hip injury, more or less, destroyed a very promising career.

I think with a depressed cap, there should be a more robust market for those types of signings this year. Id love to get Dragic, but if he cant get a deal, he will probably go back to Miami

Dragic to Mavs is popular because of his friendship with Luka.
If Mavs ship out THJ for a bigger name and add some ballast to that trade to get it done, Dragic could fill a very useful role in Dallas as the back up PG.
But LAL is as desperate for a PG as any title team can be.
LAC also very much in need.
An MIA could try to run it back virtually in tact.

Miami is a leading contender for Olodipo as well

Not sure I'd buy that one.
Any team moving for him has to take a gamble which likely means moving off an asset you don't want or can't afford.
DAL could offer THJ +18(after drafting for IND) + pick 32.

And they have to plan to pay him well if he is even moderately good next year.

If you're MIA with Herro and that team I'm not sure I'd risk anything.
I can't really see a good trade fit there.

the best potential trade I could find was:
Pacers Receive: Kendrick Nunn, Duncan Robinson, Andre Iguodala, 2020 First-Round Pick, 2022 Second-Round pick via Philadelphia or Denver (less favorable)

I don't do that on either side, lol.
Heat have built a culture and I wouldn't mortgage that many assets for 1 guy who I then have to max out if he is healthy or lose.
IND could use a lot of things but this is picking from the bottom of the Heat roster in return for your potential franchise guy.
No Bueno to me. I'd want at least 1 definite starter or a top 10 pick/prospect.

I think Oladipo is a FA. I could be wrong. I think Miami may have the space with Dragon and Kelly-O's contracts expiring

Pacers reportedly interested in trading for Hayward. Maybe I will get my wish. For salaries, it would have to be Turner and Warren for Hayward. In that event, I think we would have to give up some draft assets.

I dont see a VO for Hayward trade. VO doesn't make sense in Boston to me

Call me greedy, but 1 title with James/Davis is not that satisfying. I want a Lakers vs Celtics finals next year, lets battle it out for 18 in LA/Bos with packed arenas.

Nov 18th draft, start of season supposedly Dec 22nd.
That makes sense to me as I figured the NBA would fight tooth and nail to keep their Christmas Day games.

Saw Mavs draft nerd suggest a trade with BOS of:

Hayward
14

For

18, 32
Delon Wright
THJ

My gut said Mavs homer trade but a lot of folks in the twitter thread seemed to like it for BOS.
Is BOS just set on moving Hayward because of salary/health??

Boston doesnt have the roster space to make that trade. The picks inclusion is weird. They probably wont be able to fit the 3 FRP's they have on the roster. That would have to be a 3 way deal. I think Boston would have alot more interested in Wright than Hardaway. In this proposed trade, you'd probably have to include a 3rd team to give us a big for picks (not 14) and Hardway. If we land Turner for Hardaway and 1 FRP, thats a solid deal all around.

Hardaways deals falls off the books, and with a VO trade they will have some assets and cap space to add peices around Sabonis.

If Hayward can stay healthy, he is a good fit with Luka. Very good defensive player. Very good off the ball player. Good secondary ball handler. Brings alot of utility to the table as a scorer

Celtics get a good young modern big on a good contract, and a quality back up PG.

No one knows what their plans are with him. Boston hasnt shown any interest in dealing him in their end. So sourced rumor that has come out is Indy being interested in trading for him. Salary match is complicated with them though. Turner would be their target, but they would have to include VO or Warren to match. Would would have us sending then picks as well. He is expected to pick his option up, but he doesnr have to until after the draft. That makes trading him tricky. Especially with an Indy deal because they would 14 minimum for that trade. Probably 14 and one other FRP. If, say its VO, we would probably involve another team. He doesnt really fit us.

Alot of the fandom talk is they will either run it back and try to sign him to a smaller deal next offseason. Or trade him at the deadline.
