Anyone not on their rookie deal on the team would be available if I ran the team. Anyone on their rookie deal who I would not put a high priority on resigning would also be available.

I think this would be pretty easy to see. I don’t expect Jerry and son to share this point of view though.

IMO if Gallup keeps on improving I wonder if they move on from Cooper in the 2022 offseason with a 6mil dead cap, but save 16mil.
We'll see there.

You are right.

I did not know that his dead cap is so low only 2 years into his contract.

Could be a possibility.

Problem is there are a bunch high value of contracts the Cowboys are stuck with for a couple more years on underperforming players that probably have no trade value. It's a Jerry and Stephen Jones Hallmark.

This team isn’t a SB contender I get that.

But they are beyond injured. I wish people would realize how good the talent on IR really is[/QUO
And that talent does nothing in this 8-8 culture and a suspect coaching staff. BLOW up the Carter!!!

If you're going to blow it up, which at this point is fine, you need to tag and trade Dak, Keep 2 young WRs and a handful of other young guys, everybody else is fair game for trade. Take your time and find a good HC and staff.

Cut bait and throw the deckhand over for good measure!

Not saying that at all.

Simply stating there are other positions of need we can improve on. Trading guys like Smith, Collins etc. is not the answer

I’m all for getting rid of Lawrence, Smith, Zeke. I just don’t think a full 53 man blow up is necessary

Thats unheard of and wont happen, but I try and put myself in MM shoes, and its not comfortable.
What goes through MMs mind at night when he is trying to go to sleep.
What total mess did I just get myself into, and brought all my boys with me to sink as well.
Welcome to the Dallas Cowboys MM and staff,, Jerry isnt as stupid as many label him,, he always has a scapegoat.

We are in such a bad place right now as far being a legitimate contender for a SB run should we have a fire sale ourselves? Who are some of the players do you think we could move and what could we get for them.
What do you mean by "fire sale"? To me this conjures the image of selling off almost everyone and starting over. If that's what you mean, that's an incredibly bad idea. Obviously there are changes that need to be made, but the idea is to make changes that will upgrade, not to start over without any notable assets and claw up like an expansion team.

In any case, while things look bad (and are bad), the team is still competitive in the division (yes, I know that's mostly because the division is weak), and while still in contention you don't just give up. You cannot build a team or confidence in management or coaches by sending the message that giving up is acceptable with the majority of the season left to play. Winning is partly about talent and coaching, but also about a mindset.

Zeke - 5/6 rounder
Lawrence - 6/7 rounder
Cooper 5/6 rounder
Crawford cut
Chido - 4/5 rounder
Smith - 6/7 rounder
LVE - 3/4 rounder

It will have to be a fire sale. No one wants those contracts.
***, why would you trade LVE on a rookie deal? lol. Zeke just needs to fix the fumble issues. We would have to give a team a pick to take Jaylon and Lawrence right now.

I think the guy is shot. Rookie deal or not do you see him as a reliable 16 game LBer?

The issues he's had haven't been the same injury. Give him more than just one long injured streak before writing him off. You still have the rest of this season and all next year to see if he can be who you hoped before you'd have to pay him. And no way do you trade him for a 3rd or 4th round pick. Think about those picks we've had and how many productive starters we have out of them. Gallup and Dak is about it.

Good luck trading out of a talent problem, which is why they're not a SB contender.

They might do a sign/trade with Prescott because seeing this team with and without him, he might be the one with the best trade value.

Get for them? Nothing. Teams aren't going to give up a lot of draft capitol for over priced players who have not produced. Maybe, MAYBE, Dak but that's it and if any team does, you aren't getting anything near what you might expect. Nobody is trading for Zek and his contract. Nobody is trading for Cooper, nobody is Trading for Lawrence, nobody is trading for Jaylon. Teams would trade for Martin but we aren't trading him. We aren't trading Gallup or Lamb because then we are stuck with Cooper and his 20 plus mil next year. Who else is there?

LVE is not a reliable player. Can’t have a key LB being a constant injury risk. It hurts the team. He has shown that he can’t be relied on to play while taking the NFL pounding. Plus I think he has just been a bad player the last 2 years. He was terrible last year.

He might not even pass the physical grade with another team. I have always thought the Joneses get cute with the injury status and bring players back too early.

It is time to cut all of these pampered, soft, gutless wonders and the coaches as well.
