When times are bad I always look back to what my father told me as very young Baylor Bear fan who I would get down on because they were so bad.

Dad said” it’s easy to root for a winner son , but it builds character rooting for and supporting a perineal loser. And you’ll appreciate much more when they do have some success”.

Being a Diehard fan isn’t about winning. Look at those fans in the Dogpound in Cleveland or the Saints fans who held a bag over the heads for 43 years.

Yes, winning makes it more fun but it’s about supporting your local team or Alma Mater .

At least with the Cowboys we have a great excuse with the most dysfunctional ownership in the league.

The Cowboys are sounding and acting like a team that has quit on the season (and maybe the coaches but i'm not sure about that yet), they have one game to turn that attitide around and it is this week. If they don't and lose the game the season is over and it is going to get really really ugly the rest of the way

It continues to surprise me we have so many fans This generation from across the country who flock to the Cowboys.

I don’t understand what the attraction is. I get we have had fans jump on in our championship eras but why now. It must be some of the fantasy influence with certain players attracting them.

Ive never understood abandoning your hometown or area teams for other teams. Sure, we might enjoy watching the great talents around the league or the country as we all want to see the best play but why would this generation of fans be attracted to the Dallas Cowboys?

For over 40 years now, I used to go into every season memorizing the schedule of our first 5 or 6 games...home and away....this year, I've not known....or cared about....our next opponent until late the week prior....why freaking bother??? I have FINALLY accepted the fact that until Jerry can no longer take a breath, we are not winning anything....period!!! And that may include Stephen who hoards FA money like its being pulled directly out of his front pocket. Anyone with me on this, or experiencing any thing similar?
There is nothing that will ever make me not be a fan of the Cowboys. I was born into this, Texas bred. No front runner mentality; like the Falcons fans that I have to endure since moving to Atlanta.

The best part of being a fan is knowing that you never waivered in your support for your team no matter how bad it got (remember 1-15); when you eventually win it all. In this case it may very well be Jerry that is the issue but he has no bearing on me loving the Cowboys. We won 3 SBs with Jerry and yes it was awhile ago. Cowboyz 4 Life is literally a lifestyle for me.

Being a fan is usually easy because you're just a fan, you don't have to do anything, just be a fan. It's mostly a passive act unless your team goes through some rough water and then we have to remind ourselves why we are fans because everybody wants a winner.

The Dallas Cowboys present a different kind of team with the owner firmly planting his face and voice of the franchise and that takes a more active part to remain a fan. He just doesn't go away. Booger is the most irritating person in all of sports history to me. How an incompetent continues to dominate the sports world is incredible.

I do whatever I can to avoid exposure to him and all I get is from this forum and fortunately that is in the written word so I do not have to listen to him try to speak. As long as that magpie has been running his mouth, you would think he would have learned to speak by now.

However, I found something several years ago that made this so much easier. When they lose, I get to see his sourpuss in his suite along with the Highland Park Hillbillies and that makes me happy. It has gotten to the point that it's a 50/50 deal so I am in a win/win situation regardless of the outcome.

While apathy has overtaken me, I do not actively pull against them but when I see a laydown like I did on Monday night, I do begin to hope they get their butts kicked.

I've said this many times, they do not have to win to keep me as a fan because they got me in their most famous loss in team history but they do have to plat the game like men. I will be watching for one thing come Sunday, heart. They show no heart, they can't have mine.

To answer your question somewhat, but as an older fan...Dad moved us to Memphis TN in the early 70's and early NFL was either Pittsburgh or Dallas on the tv every Sunday. Landry, Roger and that star captured me in '74/75 as a 9 yr old. To this day, the vast majority of my age group still in that city, it's not really a Titans city but still more a Steeler and Cowboy city.
As for answering for today's generation of what is the appeal to non Texas fans?
I guess we must tip our hat to the marketing genius or hypnotist potion that Grandpa Jerry keeps pushing.
For the life of me I do not have an answer for you for why anybody in their 20s not from Texas, or God forbid younger would have a positive reference point to count as a foundation of their fan hood.

The uniforms/star maybe?

'Bout all I got.

You did? I never knew who the Cowboys were going to play because it was nearly impossible to find a schedule in the prehistoric 70s and 80s!
Lol... remember news papers? I would cut out the schedule and tape it to my mirror. Couldn't wait for Wednesday because it included the updated team stats and rankings.

Watching this defense took away my hope. Hiring Nolan should’ve done that but I tried to give him a chance.

Most definitely. I am filled with spirit, saved by the son, and all praise to the father. And I remember his 4th commandment that was given at the creation.

Hey look this guy has gone from insulting someone here "Skinny Jeans" to preaching. So typical.

You will fit right in here.

getting close...i banned my own Platinum guarantees...i use to get psyched for cowboys and want to get everyone else psyched even if we were underdogs....but after watching Arizone game i banned permenantly my guarantee wins

and now i am deeply upset at cowboys....and i heard well known football analyst go through past 10 years of drafts and free agents and who we pay the big bucks for....Jones's let much needed players go and retain players we should have

let go....makes me so angry Jerry refuses to humble himself and get out of the way and get a real GM in here

It is just a strange season. It is difficult to be interested in football with all the struggles. It is even worse that dallas sucks.

Silly=-- i hear you...when cowboys suck i lose 50% or more interest in NFL

YES!!!! Wednesdays included all of the stats. You could see all of the league leaders. But the newspaper only told me next weeks opponent. I rarely knew beyond that.

...I’m amazed by you’re optimism
Try liquor and drugs.

At the same time on Sunday starting at noon.

End after the Sunday Night Game where they will lead off their review of the other games with who humiliated Dallas that day.

Pass out knowing next Sunday is coming.

I am hoping for the stars to completely align for The Cowboys (before I leave this world) like they did for the 2011 Mavericks.

The Rangers and Stars got close in 2011 and 2020; respectively.
