Would you trade a 2nd round pick for Quinnen Williams?

We cant trade him right now. We would eat way to much dead cap. He'll probably get traded at some point in the future, but it isnt going to be now or this offseason
It’s better to do it now when teams have a need (just like we did when we traded for Amari) to make a playoff run. Then we can hopefully sign Gallup a year before he hits free agency which usually results in a better deal for the team. We need to be looking towards the future instead of year to year. We always think we’re a year away and it’s proven that we never are.

I live in the area, yes. If I listen to any talk radio it's usually Philly stations because they talk football. The NY stations talk baseball 24/7 365 days a year. It could be NFL week 12 at noon and they're talking Mets pitching. That's not an exaggeration. It was that exact scenario maybe 10 years ago that stopped me permanently from listening regularly. But I will listen occasionally just in case.

I purposely watched either the last Jets game or the one before that. The main reason was to see Williams in action. I focused on him alone. I didn't see much. It's not easy to focus on a DT with the way the camera shoots the game. So I really don't know. So if the Jets are willing to take a 2nd then they must consider him a bust. Not necessarily a garbage player, but a bust considering his draft position. He might be worth a 2nd if he improves. He was a beast in college.
Ah ok.

Jersey needs to be made into two different states....north and south of exit 7a or 8 lol.

Some locals on here would know the afternoon show on FAN....hosted by two big time Jet fans.

Williams is a huge disappointment according to them. They would tell you theres flashes here and there, but another bust overall and he is a disappointment.

A change of scenery may definitely help him....but people around here should understand we arent getting a player that's playing anywhere close to the third pick in the draft.

He would need to take a sharp turn for the better to not fully bust, and I dont think it's worth our 2nd to find that out.

I think some folks here think we are buying for pennies on the dollar. That's based purely on draft position, not play.

We arent trading Cooper. You guys have to stop with this. Its not happening
Certainly not for Q. Williams. Let’s trade our best receiver and 2nd receiver in the league with receptions for a draft bust. Fan GM at its best.

$28M and it’s only for 1 year. Sometimes you gotta eat the dead money for the future. We aren’t going to the promised land in 2021 either.

This is different though. This is a 22 year old defensive end who’s still on his rookie deal for a few more years. You have to ask yourself if I go into next years draft will I get a player this good in the 2nd or 3rd round? This is for the future not just the now.
Completely agree but see my other posts on him

He is considered a bust by Jet fans in general.

I dont want to deal what's going to likely be a high second on the chance he turns it around.

You're also relying on someone on this staff to fix him.

He hasn't played well. The interest on our end is based entirely on draft position.

Why would the Jets not want to build around him for the same reasons?

They are willing to accept pennies on the dollar for a reason.

A BIG NO. Only 4.5 sacks in 52 games. That's pathetic. Np way is he woorth a 2nd rounder which will be near the top of the round.

Not true. Since in the Pros his run defense has been his strength

Quinnen Williams has played well with the NY Jets in 2020.
In six games, Williams has amassed two sacks, 24 tackles, and four tackles for loss which pretty much matches his numbers from last season. His 71.2 Pro Football Focus grade ranks 29th out of all interior defensive linemen and he has a top-10 run defense grade for his position as well.

He’s been good this season whether many realize it or not. And he’s doing this with essentially no help and in a 3-4 defense that doesn’t particularly suit him. It’s likely we haven’t seen the best from Quinnen Williams just yet.

And if that’s the case, it’s incredibly surprising to see no team offer even a second-round pick for him. Perhaps the Jets would simply be better served holding on to him regardless.

After all, the team needs to have some building blocks for the future. Williams is young and playing some good football right now — it would make little sense to move on.
Not how to evaluate. Quinnen is having trouble shedding OLinemen. That's how you evaluate his run stopping.

After 2021 he's gone, however, most of the saved money will go on extending Gallup.

Oh I know. I'm not sure how to spell his name, but Joe Baningo, or something that sounds like that has been a huge Jets fan for years. Love the guy. They just rarely talk football on that station. It aggravates me. Do they talk more now? The FAN is the station that I was referring to.

I mean they are one of the worst franchises in football, maybe bc they’re blowing the whole thing up. Are we going to get a DT in the 2nd round better than Quinnen Williams? Probably not. In the first? I doubt it. He’s just one year removed from being a rookie

I think that's all the more reason to hold onto him. He's 22-years old and not up for a new contract yet. It's not like he's 27-28 and set to hit the free agent market. I'm not saying I wouldn't be interested in him, but I'm intrigued why the Jets would let him go already if the rumors are true.

That's it and that's him.

You must have tuned in at the wrong times.

The Jets are each of the hosts passion and they talk football more than anything else....during football season anyway.

After these tweets of late, I'm sure the subject will come up on Monday.

Nope. This defense has too many holes. Might as well adress them in the draft. We'll get more bang for the buck that way.

Have you seen how we draft on defense? I seriously doubt it. Offensively we draft good defensively its a disaster.
