Could also argue that Martin being out is a big part of this. But yes, Dak has been missed.

Not sure what Jones will end up paying him but the losing (and the way the team is losing) has made me more certain it will be at least $40 million. And the Trevor Lawrence hype? Not seeing him break Jerry Jones' appreciation for Prescott. Not one iota. The only thing left is waiting for the offseason and the draft.

Yep, the problem for Jerry is that there is no way he can say it was the surrounding talent and Dak was just along for the ride and you can plug any QB into this offense and get similar results, ergo Dak is not worth $40-$45 million a year. That narrative is long gone now.

It is crystal clear for everybody to see that it was Dak, not the surrounding talent, that made this offense go.

And then he’d have an even worse defense and OLine because the organization couldn’t afford to surround him with the required talent

and if i was Dak, i'd counter that and say not my problem... you had 4 years to do that while i was on a rookie contract, and decided to give big money to Tank and Jaylon lol

If Dak actually wants to sign to this team, we’ll be lucky. If I’m him, I’m taking the 35M from Indy next year.

So you think they can surround Dak with enough talent to compete if they pay him $45 million/year?

2016 had a lot of guys living up to their large contracts. 2020 is literally the opposite

So Dallas was still able to make Tony Romo the highest paid player in NFL history...and still, according to most, surround him with a championship roster. Heck, even the best roster in the NFL according to many in 2016. A roster that was "soooooo loaded that a throw-away 4th round, terrible rookie QB like Dak Prescott" could succeed in, right?

And this is the same GM, Owner, Front Office that gave Romo that deal.

So if Dallas was able to do it for Romo (and Dak is NEVER going to be the highest paid NFL player ever like Romo was), I see ZERO excuse for Dak.

So we can take that excuse off the table.

Well, we might end up with TLaw at this point. Who would pay him $45M/year?

Exactly what we need. Jerry and Stephen to have more money to resign players and pick up free agents.

their success with that is so good.

Yeah so what's a better option is pay him a crap ton and then trot out basically the same team that has done squat for the last 3 seasons and watch us go 8-8ish for the next 4-5 years.

We likely make the playoffs with him under center. We had the number one offense. Use the off-season and picks to redo the defense.
Hard to do that if you are paying one player $40 million a year. I hope they can work something out and keep him.

How you figure?

They were 2-3 with him. So it's not like they were setting the world on fire. And one of those wins came on a fluke, weird onsides kick.

With Dak, we were a bad football team still.

Maybe if our clown front office would have done the smart thing and given Dak a nice contract two freaking years ago....... we wouldn’t be in this position.

I hope Dak lowers his price a bit given the injury though. That’s what I am hoping for.

After these last two horrible games at QB I doubt he’s going to lower his price even with the ankle surgery lol.

We've won maybe one game against a team with a winning record in the last three years. All it does is stop us from getting a better draft pick.

If you got a great QB you got a shot. The defense was putrid on a historic level but you still have a shot. Not a great shot but a shot nonetheless.
