it happened when we lost Romo every time, it happened with 12qbs between Aikman and Romo...

i get your point but looking at the game Dak goes down then the next game we lose Martin early then the next game no martin or Knight..

not sure how much better Dak is other then a leader that keeps spirit up then what Dalton did..Dak was also fumbling , strip sacks, and throwing INts, we were 1-3 with him, what the prettier losses ,make you miss him you want to pay him whatever he demands?

Im not happy Daks gone nor do i think Daltons better but you are omitting that with Dak we were like 3-5 to end ;last year and 1-3 to start this year, last season we were pretty healthy and couldn't win a weak division and needed ONE win either the eagles game or one more other then the final game to win and Dak was the QB, was he not?

Daks been healthy up until this year yet we finishes seasons 9-7, 8-8, and started one 3-5 and now this one 1-3...thats awesome...irreplaceable for sure..smh

I know its not ALL on him but where all this magic ?

you say you never seen a team go so flat when guy goes down yet it happened after every Romo Injury..you forgetful? the OL is in absolute Shambles and i doubt dak would have faired better the last two games, possibly a few more scores MAYBE..

we have seen Dak in many games couldn't score more then 10points in many years.. offense has went flat for games and QTRs with him..I mean 2017 we lost many games without zeke and Tyron, BTW go back and look at all the losses without TS, i bet you see more and indicator when the OL has major injuries' we struggle to score and win..

again i know its not just him but these losses the last 2 weeks are far deeper then just missing Dak..the Ol is far and away the biggest issue, defense and then coaching.. then missing dak..like i said dak may have made the games look a bit better but still Ls from where i sit.

saying WRs weren't dropping passes , really they led the league last year in drops as a core did they not?

this isnt Anti Dak its team reality check for fans..Mahomes couldn't play behind this line.its the worst OL inthe nfl and most likely the worst lines the DC has started as unit in my recent memory..its ugly cant run , cant pass, cant win..thats it..

like i said better qb might make few more plays but we still lose, see the 1-3 pre injury start and the 3-5 record to finish last season..seriously what are you looking at?

You spend a lot of time talking about how bad the team is in several other areas, then when you talk about its record it's Dak, Dak, Dak. Why is that? I will keep repeating it until it sinks in.. On a team that has 13 problems you don't fix them by adding a 14th. Especially at the position that is far and away the most difficult to full. Not just in football but in all of sports. Losing your franchise QB does exactly that. People talk about these last two games as though they were foregone conclusion losses even if Dak plays.. I don't know how anyone who has watched the team play for any length of time can say that. With Dak in the lineup this team was averaging 27 points and almost 200 more yards per game. To sit here and pretend that would not make a difference is ludicrous. What would the score of the last game have been had the offense put up its usual 33? Anybody? Okay just add the 27 point difference.. 30-25? Probably less because scoring that much would have put more pressure on the Football Team to throw it rather than run it down our throats for 200+ yards. Same for the Cards game. They completed 9 passes.. NINE!!!! But it didn't matter because our offense offered little to no rebuttal. That's not really something we have been able to say about the Dak-led 2020 Cowboys. People keep trotting out 2019 like players simply are not allowed to get better. Like Moore can't get better than he was as a first year OC and in only his second year working with Dak. I guess in that world guys and teams can only get worse every year? That's why you guys are so anxious to dump guys after 2-3 good years?

This may not be the best time for you to go down this road considering the offense was one of the best in the NFL with Dak, and one of the worst with Dak injured.

One of? Who is worse?

Just ask yourself 1 question.....Are you as a Cowboy fan happy with Dak and his overall performance and results leading our team in the last 3 seasons?
Now ask yourself one more question....does his performance warrant 15-20% of our cap?
I've seen the team with him and without him now and the team is far worse than I thought it could be.

I know they have to build around him as he is not going to carry the team but the foundation of a team usually starts with the OL but with this one it's the QB.

PAPPY, it's not as much about Dak Prescott as it is about the lack of ability of management to build a team. It's not a choice, Prescott is the best we're going to get. These people wanted Lynch and Cook, think about that. You are entrusting the assemblage of talent to mediocre talent evaluators.

They get lucky, they need to ride with that. They lucked into Romo and Prescott.

Dak is more like John Kitna. Lots of yards on bad teams. McNabb didn't pad his accuracy numbers with lots of short safe throws like Qbs do nowadays, and he was a much better runner than Dak and had far more pocket mobility.
He threw for 800 yards a year to running backs lol

Have we forgotten Brian Westbrook, who had over 100 targets in back-to-back years?

and the rookie blue chipper QB will be running for his life behind our O-line. Rebuild the line with 3 blue chippers, we already have a veteran QB to keep healthy
You're getting 2 solid OL back this week, plus you don't know for sure if Dak is the same guy after the injury.

Great post Coach. IMO, Leadership is the most underrated quality in measuring a QB’s value. There are very few QBs who achieve greatness who have all the tools except leadership. But there are many who may not have every tool, but they have leadership. Those are often the greats. I don’t know if Dak will be an all time great, but he’s certainly proven he is THE leader of this team.
It is leadership that was missing from Jeff George and Jay Cutler and both of those QB's had arms other QB's dream about. Then you have QB's like Joe Kapp, Billy Kilmer and Bobby Douglas, Venus de Milo had better arms, but they led their teams.

This isn't about winning a championship, it's about being half-assed decent and not an embarrassment. Which do posters want to watch? Because that's the choice.

The kind of thinking that goes on here that it's about winning a championship mystifies me. If there are SB or bust fans here, why in the hell are they still here? Haven't they seen enough to know this brain trust, including McClay, isn't good enough to build a true contender?

When you get lucky, you stay with it.

Paying Dak anything next year is last rung on the ladder now. Jerry needs to start dumping contracts and personnel to build a new future through the draft and that includes a new 5th yr option QB. We need tons of draft picks over the next 3 years and unload aging vets who no longer deserve to be paid. We are going to have to eat dead money for the next two years at least so the team is going to have to go through the Cleveland syndrome. We will not be competitive for some time as we rebuild and retool. We also need to dump these current group of overpaid, underperfoming coaches and look for some young innovation. This is going to be a dumpster fire for awhile so buckle in for lots of stink and suck!
You are overlooking one little item. Who is going to rebuild this team with all those picks?

Does it do any good to rebuild with the original builder?

LittleD, many keep looking at the symptoms to diagnose the illness and overlook the cause.

this is a DAk thread BRAGH!! i responded in kind said that with or without dak we would be losing ..its proven we are 4-9 with dak since mid season last year , thats the point the OP states we cant live without him, i say we were losing before he got hurt..

so go be defensive somewhere else, its my opinion that that OL and Defense has more to do with losing , dak or no dak.. his point was missing dak has showed him we need him more then ever..odd statement given with Dak we have been losing, what scoring was way up, right it was when the Ol was healthy and adding Lamb, paying cooper, instead of a defender, sure we and the defense ..

if you cant see its far worse then dak missing , then you re just being a koolaide drinker i mentioned Romo , had the same issues Romo went down we couldn't win games..this is far worse then just mossing romo..far worse then missing dak as we saw the losing with Dak.

fans are getting hung up on the PPG drop but fail too see the Line is even worse then when dak went down and sure Daltons not as good but its not Dalton as its wasnt all dak..we are not scoring because the line cant run block or pass protect we have nothing..

Ill bet my house Dalton would look a whole lot better with our full starting line and Zeke able to run..

if you read with your eyes open then ready to once on an argument saying the team has failed like this when Romo when down which was the pot of the Op saying he hasn't ever seen this, its fact it just happened with Romo Era..

the Op must have been BLIND to forget he saw this team lose just about every game Romo missed..

do we need to revisit the 3-5 games to end last year and knock us from the playoffs, was dak and this offense scoring 32PPG in those final 8? NE 9, Saints 10 points, Philly 9 points , buffalo 15 points

all im saying is the issues are far worse then Dak missing right now but reality check Daks also been part of long streaks when we cant score more then 10points

sure he makes us more competitive, would you like to visit the dak 2017 streak with out TS and Zeke? how many low scoring games were we part of?

this OP witnessed post dak to games how bad the offense has looked and is emotionally overvaluing daks being missing.. I say with Martin and Knight out the last two games while possible more competitive, i say they are still losses..

if you cant run and the OL cant run block at all, and thr defense can win the battle with 4line front and stop the run and also play the pass with max coverage, no one can win right now..

the last two games are NIOT a product of Dak missing its product of a horrible OL that leads to offense that cant run , and cant protect the QB with abase 4man pass rush , no time max coverages etc

dak would have also lost these games

not dak hate thread get over it ..what tool, get your emotions in check..My posts are mired in reality's..its FACT..

Fact is you aren't placing any of the blame for the team's woes on the defense.

doesnt matter all 3 QBs have to deal with the same bad defense the difference is the OL, no way to evaluate Dalton and Nuch even with this mess..who cares i said dak better then dalton but also Daks been part of many games when they didnt score much..FACT.. with helathy OL in recent past , Daks had less then 10points less then 13 manty games..hes gone many scoreless qtrs..im being realistic..

no one should be being evaluated at RB, QB or WR right now because thats the worst OL combo ive ever witnessed here with the DC..

OP said hes never seen team drop off so much as when dak left, i say it happened every time Romo went down.. fact

Dak or any other QB you want to pick from would not do any better with this beat up O- Line and a Defense that any team can score big numbers on. It’s disgusting. They have no heart. Dak had the Offense playing. But this Defense has got nothing. Some of it’s not a talent problem.

I think Dak's a fine QB and a fine person, but good grief, the team was 1-3 going into that game he got hurt. I do think players look like they've given up, but this Cowboys team sure wasn't world beaters to begin with. I hope the team can keep him, but what good is it going to do if he can't have role players around him?

I like to compare him to Russell Wilson --- the Seahawks won while his cap # was friendly, and they're still a competitive team, but they're no longer the terrifying beasts they were once Russell got his money. And i think Russell Wilson might very well be the best QB in the league right now.

He really did.

McNabb was known as an inaccurate big play QB. He couldn't read a D to save his life, but could scramble around until someone broke open. Very inconsistent. He might not be as good as you remember.

58.99 career comp percentage, 89.4 QBR, those weren't even good for his time. Never threw for 4,000 yds.

McNabb was good, not great.

His game wasn't just about throwing the ball. He was a legit dual threat. I'm not arguing he was great, though he gets HOF consideration. I'm arguing he's better than Dak.
