Four reasons why McCarthy is bad and should be fired if we do not improve

Lincoln Riley was my guy. Followed closely by Urban Meyer and Matt Rhule.

But I was ok with McCarthy and willing to give him a chance. Still am.

But not a good start
Lincoln Riley - who like his predecessor Bob Stoops - can put together prolific offenses and churn out Heisman Trophy QB winners --- but his teams repeatedly get steamrolled in the college football playoffs because he can't recruit talented defensive players, and then hire a defensive coordinator to prepare them to stop the best SEC teams -Alabama, Georgia, LSU - and perennial ACC power Clemson.

You haven’t been following the Cowboys long if you thing anything “has to happen” under the direction of the nimrod father-son duo. They’ve made this franchise totally irrelevant and even less than an afterthought. They killed it.

In 2016 we were 13-3. We had a series of good drafts, had a great O-line plus Dak and Zeke playing very well. The Joneses didn't stop us from having a real shot at the Super Bowl that year.

Unfortunately, we had to contend with a HOF QB in our conference who happened to have a sterling record against our D coordinator Marinelli and who has good memories of our stadium because he won a Super Bowl in it. I really believe that if we had avoided Rodgers that year, we at least got to the SB. But who knows, and who knows if Garrett would have been good enough to win it.

Look I'm not going to defend the Joneses too much...but look at Cleveland for so many years. Look at Jacksonville now. We are not the only ones with meddlesome or blundering owners. The real reason we aren't bathing in the glory of the 90s is because of the salary cap and parity. To beat that, you need outstanding coaches and the Belichicks of the world are rare, rare birds. You also need to hit gold in multiple drafts. We did that too with our O-line and Dak. It's not impossible even with the Joneses.

Whether Jerry wouldn't meddle with a great coach is a fair question, but we've had other opportunities too. Wade Phillips, 13-3 in 2007 the year after Parcells left barely lost to the Giants in the playoffs, who won the whole thing. And even Parcells, who was here four years, once said that Jerry Jones was the subject of "misperception."

Besides, even if Jerry did finally throw in the towel and took his hands off, that does not guarantee success. Imagine if he hired someone like Chicago hired Ryan Pace, who then traded up to draft Trubisky? GMs across the league routinely whiff in drafts and make dumb decisions. In fact you could arguably make the case that Jerry's worst decision in recent years (outside of hiring McCarthy) has been taking his hands off the drafts and allowing Marinelli to pick players.

Here is the problem with the hire- it was not well thought out.

It is not in dispute that the offense was the strength of the team last year. Given that fact- why did the GM need to double down on the strength of the team?

It is no secret that the defense has been and continues to be the Achilles heel of the team. So why double down on the strength if you planned to keep Kellen Moore? Wouldn’t they have been better served to bring in a strong, motivator and excellent scheme teacher like say Robert Saleh from San Francisco? Or one of the other strong defensive coordinators?

That is how a football smart GM constructs a team... sadly that is not what we have

He was a bad hire by a couple of rich guys who think they're "football guys", despite a quarter century of nothing.

The only bad thing about firing him is the same two jokers will hire the next coach. The Cowboys are going nowhere any time soon.
The thing that bugs me the most about the Jones is they don't even try to make the best coach hire, Why not at least sit down with an- Eric Bieniemy, Matt Eberflus, Don Martindale, Greg Roman,
If MM is let go our next coach is Mike Zimmer, Friend of the family someone Jerry and Stevens knows. To Jerry football isn't about winning it's about control
Don't get me wrong. Jerry wants to win he just doesn't know how

First of all, to compare this franchise to Pittsburgh is ridiculous. Start off with 3 HC's in 45 years and all have rings. They are the standard for stability. The Cowboys are the standard for promotion.

As far as McC and Nolan, I don't know about either of them but I've never seen either go through what they're experiencing now and the team is unloading their FA D pickups.

Booger will not fire McC but McC might let Nolan go but I doubt it. If he has the chance to redeem himself, he would want that for his friend as well.

If you can watch this team on the field and lay all that off on coaching, that's not really fair.

If you're the GM and you have a team quitting, is it some players or the coaching?

I wanted McC out of the names mentioned but I admit some of the bloom is off that rose after the decisions I saw made in the first few games but there's no way Booger is throwing in the towel on a man he hired in a 12 hour interview. He bought in, he went all in and he's not going to let this play out. Besides that, he doesn't like to pay coaches to leave.
