Too much dead money. His contract becomes easy to take the hit after one More year. Same with with Amari. Y’all need to go to the salary cap site and study the ramifications for early release: this is 2020, not 2002.

Maybe but with Smith, you could save $400K next year, so at that level, you aren't taking a massive cap hit because you have to roll a ton of money forward. If they are looking to gut the defense this offseason, I suspect they'll consider dumping Smith. Will they actually end up doing it? Probably depends on our overall cap situation.

I've posted probably 20 post on how awful Worley is as a football player. He will never see an NFL field again.

I'll defend the McCoy signing. It was worth the risk IMO. If you looked at Carolina, they played better against the run when he was there as opposed to when he was out hurt. They should have brought another DT in other than Poe.

"McCoy had an injury waiver on his quad in the three-year, $18.3 million contract he signed with the Cowboys in late March that stipulated if he injured it, the club could cut him"
If the team is stacked at DT, you take a chance on him. If not, as the Cowboys weren't, you don't...

Jerry is not just financially invested in Jaylon but he's emotionally invested as well. That trumps everything in this organization.

If nothing else....a bit of accountability finally.
Good moves but to me it is too little too late this is just smoke and mirror more of a diversion from the elephant in the room ( the Jones) classic scapegoating.

Take a look at that 2016 class now.

Big headed freak RB who lost his explosion after one year, damaged goods LB with no instincts or self awareness, role playing DT now in Oakland, Prescott and a depth corner.

Pffft.

Just cut them...they are both total trash. No one will trade for them....let alone sign them.

And THIS, my dear friends, shows once again how incompetent our front office is. These guys are completely untradeable, and everyone knows it. They've been playing horribly, and everyone knows it. So, why even mention a trade? It makes zero sense. And really points hard toward pure stupidity. The Jones's don't even realize that they should be embarrassed to make this announcement.

Jaylon Smith should be on this list as well
….it's coming soon, probably after the season......and the realization that their ain't no solid LBs on this team right now.....returning from injury or not.

I wouldn't say they were misses and mistakes I honestly think their mistake had more to do with who they hired to run a defense when he told the administration he was going to be hybrid to only come in and run strictly a 3-4 defense with a bunch of disguises that only fools his own players.

I don't absolve Nolan of responsibility, but there is a long list of players putting in little effort - like Poe - and guys like Worley forgetting their responsibilities and busting coverages - that's on tape.

It's not either/or, it's both.

I feel like Nolan is doing a really poor job of trying to mimic what the Rams are doing on defense this year. That defense is pretty cool. This one is worse than garbage.

He certainly lied when he said 'players over scheme'.
