How about Mike Nolan as well ?
He would probably be sent back to us and the team that gets him would follow a grievance with the league saying we gave them damage goods, lol.

These guys have been awful, but I don't think what's behind them is any better, so sooner or later Jerry's going to run out of players to blame this on

Three FA busts, great job Stephen/McClay

20/20 hindsight. There were nothing but accolades when McCoy and Poe were signed. Everyone thought Dallas was addressing a need in the interior of the line for run defense. Everyone signed off on it.

I remember Griffen was also seen as a steal for a bargain price. Many were clamoring for months to sign Griffen. When he was signed many thought Dallas would have the best pass rush in the NFL. Again, everyone agreed.

Everyone is a genius until things go wrong. And then it's "I was against it the whole time".

Stop with the hypocrisy.

Poe has just lost it.

Worley has some of the worst coverage skills I've ever seen. Not an NFL player. Not even as a backup.

if you're referring to me, then yes.

I didn't see any any thread on the report and i checked the Jaylon cut thread in case it was listed in there.

Mods please delete if this has already been part of a previous discussion.

LOL. I've been here for 16 years and started maybe 2 threads, i spent probably 5 minutes trying to find where to actually start a new discussion, i bet my last one was in 2005 or so.

I hang my head in shame.

No worries. I prefer fresh new one’s myself

“Seemed like a good idea at the time” or “it was a popular decision at the time” are not excuses for poor performance. At the end of the day results are all that matter.

Well first, I don't know that cutting a non-descript nosetackle and a backup corner are going to affect ticket sales or revenue. We know these guys well, but I bet the average Cowboys fan doesn't even know who they are.

Second, even if this is some kind of show move, it's still a move that needs to be made and I'd rather they made it than refusing to admit mistakes and continuing to play them. The biggest thing is I'm sick of seeing these bums on the field. Look at that Hamilton guy, he came in off the street and started showing up right away because he at least plays hard.

I do hope that report that "J Smooth" needs to get better or get out is accurate.
Jaylon is MM's first litmus test for me. When someone of his status is benched/cut/traded, I'll praise the front office. If they continue to ignore the worst starter on the team, then all of this is just window dressing and they have no intention to address the deep-seeded culture problems here. I don't care how much he makes, Jaylon is a mess, address it head-on.

Not hindsight.

McC and Poe were/are both very old and McC especially has been injury ridden for the last couple. Neither was good last year. Worley has been in the league since 2016 and has always sucked.

There was no reason to think we'd made any major strides w/ these signings.

Stop w/ the hindsight accusations.

reports starting to surface that Cooper is on the trade block. ANY TRUTH TO THIS?

I would doubt they can unload him because of his current contract, but a team like the Pack or the Ravens who have hopes of getting deep into the playoffs may be highly interested. You never know.. Throw in Dexter Coakley and they may bite.:muttley:

Didn't like the pickups when it happened, and I said so, because:

1. The Panthers run defense was pathetic in 2019 with McCoy and Poe. How good could they be?
2. Both old
3. Both had injuries they had to get over before they could play well.
4. The Cowboys defense at the time was a 4-3, guys like Poe are suited for a 3-4. 4-3 needs more like an Aaron Donald, good against the run and the pass.

So now both are gone (as soon as Poe is actually cut).

Just more of the continuing string of miserable Jerry Jones general manager decisions...

I think the cuts are coming from WilM and Stephen.

They seemed to have gained control of the roster again. No more input from big Mike and Nolan.

Defensive tackle Defensive tackle Dontari Poe and cornerback Daryl Worley were not at practice during the open portion to the media. Both players have been subject to trade rumors and face the possibility of being cut if they are not dealt. On Tuesday the Cowboys traded defensive end Everson Griffen to Detroit for a conditional draft pick.

So McClay and Stephen were okay with the signings originally, which means they're just as bad as Jerry.
Or they weren't okay with it, which means Jerry overrode them, and will do it again when it pleases him.

Doesn't give me much confidence anything has changed...

Well you can't risk them getting hurt, so not practicing makes sense. Limited trade value at best, if injured it's zero.
