I see this site littered with trade this and trade that. All these grandiose plans to get rid of expensive players and rebuild. All of these plans means going back into the hole for several years as you accrue draft picks, make selections, and then coach 'em up.

And in the end what do you have? A hope and a prayer things change.

But the problem will still be here. That is the culture of this franchise. They can make all the Three Inch Headline trades and acquisitions, but the problem starts with the GM. To an extent even Garrett may not have been as bad as we thought, because there is not a day the sun shines on this franchise that the GM is not accessible to the players. His access undercuts all authority in this paradigm.

Every corporation creates a culture for success. It is on a daily to do list to work on creating a progressive and fertile work environment, with a structure in place to keep morale at the highest, and acquire talent to is able to succeed. But I can think of no corporation that has a General Manager, who also is the owner, and allows the worker bees an open door policy, and overrules the managers in place to who are there to keep the culture on track.

Until Jerry changes the structure of this team's policies, all the movement in talent and coaching pretty much is doubtful.

BUT!!!

Mac and his crew have to go. Weird off season, crazy rules for interaction, and no pre-season affected this team like no other. Now marry in a season of injury I have never seen with this franchise in my life. And I saw the very first game this franchise played.

Don't tell me about all teams have injuries. The entire offensive line save for Connor Williams went down. And of all the players on that line you can ill afford to still be playing, if you could chose which got injured, Connor Williams is not the last man standing any of us would pick.

Until this team gets a coach who can rule with an iron fist. Coaches who can create innovative schemes, and some much needed talent to replace aging players, the 8-8 Redhead may be the high water mark for the Dallas Cowboys for a while.

The bones are here for a team that can win it all. The hopelessness some think, which devolves into these wild-eyed trade scenarios is a mirage.

A thoughtful FA season bringing in talent for the OL, and one stud tackle for defense. Then a solid defensive draft would go a long way.

But Mac ain't the guy. Neither is his crew of coaches.

And above all., Jerry JOnes needs to get a real football man that knows talent and trundle his butt to the booth and get out of the way. Stephen needs a good dose of "you ain't all that," too.

I am not rash and want to toss the baby out with the bath water. But the culture changes when you have a Jimmy Johnson hard butt calling the shots and a GM that stays out of the limelight, does not give interviews, and closes his door to the players. Let the head coach run his ship with an iron fist.

Some here have said this for years and the rebuttal is you don't need a tyrant at head coach. That just is not needed in this new age.

The proof is sitting in the standings columns and play-off success over the last two decades.

Wonder if Belichik would be interested in turning this around?

It's easy for me to tell you Rosie O'Donnell is fat, ugly, and obnoxious. I just don't think I'm the guy to tell you how to fix that train wreck.

Nor this one unless Jerry becomes a hostage.

Maybe instead of signing a petition to get a GM, or ponying up dough to get us a billboard to tell Jerry how we feel. Perhaps we should think of something which includes Jerry disappearing for a couple of years.

Dallas has been on a downward spiral ever since their run of three SB's in the mid-1990s, and w/the talent they've had for the past 6 seasons. all disappointing years, it's time for a change in ownership.

Jerry knows that he is a villain in the eyes of Cowboys’ fans, Jerry continues to make decisions that he alone believes will benefit the team.

There are reasons why Dallas has gone from dynasty to mediocrity, and all of them have to do with everyone’s favorite owner, Jerry Jones himself!

Yep. Theres plenty of coaches that actually wouldn't work under these circumstances.

Like Jerry running his mouth on the radio twice a week talking about game plans and such.

Belichik, to use your example, goes out of his way to say as little as possible in his own mandatory meets with the media.

Jerry goes and seeks out microphones.

Him trying to be a celebrity doesnt work with winning football and he needs to choose.

I'm pretty sure we all know which itll be.

Is Jerry and family retiring or selling this team? If not forget about the real change, no point even discussing this. Over 2 decades with the same denominator and we are still to make the NFC championship game.

Being realistic, some member of the Jones clan will own this team for the next 50 years..... unless their is a disaster on a family reunion cruise on the new yacht.

Agree with all of that...

The problem is the Jones's will need to see this thing fail 2 more years.

We're also going to throw a fat QB contract on top of our cap space.

It's going to get worse before it gets better. And by worse I mean we will be back to mediocre and fighting to stay in the middle.

Big Mac may be getting through to Jerry that overpaying these players ain't helping. Gotta keep them hungry if you want them to play to win!

When people ask me why the Cowboys are "straight up garbage", I say, "Ask Jerry. He has all the answers".

It's simple really. If Jerry wants another SB he has to step aside and allow MM to install his WCO instead of nurturing the Boise State offense via proxy through Jerry Jones (not saying it's a bad offense) and allow full leeway for McCarthy to see what Nolan really has for the D and if Nolan can simplify it enough (using crayons) for the defensive clown posse' we currently have. Only then can Jones know if he was right about McCarthy. My gut feeling is that we will never see a WCO and Nolan will be gone soon with McCarthy gone at the end of the year, or before. I mean it really doesn't matter how good McCarthy can be here or any other coach for that matter if Jerry Jones has to be in charge of everything anyways. If it remains a disaster then just let McCarthy go and bring in the next puppet. Maybe being the worst team in the NFL for 2-3 years (1-15) is what we need for a paradigm shift change from the FO. I would have brought in Rosen, and ET via a few trades. I would keep Bill Callahan and Wade Phillips on speed dial in case I need some OL and defensive improvements. I think it's fine that McCarthy jumped on a table to keep Kellen Moore for contiuity's sake. Exaclly what I would have done if I didn't want to be held accountable for any impending disasters and hide the fact that I didn't actually study analytics in a dungeon. Hell I'd jump on a table too for that kind of dough.
