Not saving much - In this situation Cooper would be 3 year 66 - Gallup at 18 million would be 3 year 54 + 6 million in dead money from Cooper. Basically 2 million a year. My point with all of this is Gallup is a much more valuable asset in terms of trading because of his contract now. I wouldn’t just give him up however, need to get a young defensive starter in his 2nd and 3rd year.

You are saving quit a bit, Gallup is making like 1.1 mil next year, Amari Cooper is making 22 mil. You don't know what Gallup makes, you put a number of 18 out there but what if it's 15 or 12 a year?

quinnen williams would be a draft pick. Thats what you dont get. A draft pick of need with some experience.

Here's a couple thoughts for you. Why would a team that drafted a player with the 3rd pick in the draft last year want to trade that player a year later? One answer is he's not come close to living up to that 3rd pick in the draft. So far in his short career he's played more like a 3rd or 4th round pick than the 3rd pick in the draft. Then add in that just this month getting not one but two late hit penalties in the same game and then getting fined 25K or about 60% of that week's salary shows that he has some game time emotional control problems.or he's just a dirty player. Teams don't want to have to worry about stopping a team on 3rd down only to give them a free 15 yards and an automatic1st down because he can't control himself. I put this in the same group of people that hear of a player that possibly may be available and so they jump on that as some great move for the Cowboys without thinking why that player is possibly available.

This is the same team that cut Leveon Bell and traded Jamal Adams.

It's more than obvious to most people why both got cut. Bell became not just a cancer but a bad cancer in not only the locker room but taking it to social media too. Adams who demanded to be the highest paid player on the team and then bad mouthed the team and coaches in the press and social media and locker room all this while still on his rookie contract so the jets had to get rid of him. None of his jets team mates were sorry to see him go. Next time try and come up with legit things to try to prove your point.

what did you ask me? who says amari cooper is better than gallup? which metric would you want to go by? lol.

Nobody said which one was better. Nobody even brought that up, till you. Go back and read the question. This is about money. This is not about who people think is better.

So you think the cowboys should save $2m a year by signing gallup over amari?

If you trade anyone Or they retire then the entire signing bonus goes into the salary cap. That is why we are still paying 12 million on Frederick. The only way Gallup stays at 12 million is because of a huge hometown discount.

Kinda been over this. I think that the Cowboys never signed Cooper to a 22 mil deal, per year, so that they could pay him 22 per year the entire time. I think that they set up the contract so that they could get out of it by 21, 22 latest. I think that they drafted Lamb for a reason and you can't have three #1 quality WRs on a team for any long period of time. I think that the cap shrinking this year is going to drive decisions. I think that having to possibly put out a lot of money on a QB. I think that the same might have to happen for a starting LT. Same might have to happen for a lot of different positions. I think that NFL viewership is down this year considerably and we don't know if this is a trend or a short lived thing. I think that like the Salary Cap, people might be making a mistake to think that the next TV contract is going to expand available revenue.

Basically a lot of factors come into play here but all of it revolves around the cap. Teams, IMO, are going to skinny down their rosters. It may come down to who takes less to play. For example, the team may be trying to leverage salaries here. They might have set this up so that they can see which of these WRs might play for less money and based on that, might move on from the other. As I said, the team isn't keeping three #1 WRs. They won't be able to. Eventually, Lamb will develop to a point where he wants to take a bigger role. When that happens, who's going to step down to take a lessor role? The team will eventually have to move one of them and it will be the one who makes less money IMO. Now, that might be Gallup but I doubt it. I don't think Gallup is getting paid 22 a year and Cooper will if he is on the team. Cooper will be in his 7th or 8th season at that point. Gallup will be in his 4th or 5th. Gallup's trajectory will likely be heading into his peak, Coopers will be headed towards the end of his. If you look at it from the point of view of maximum value through the life of the follow on contract, I'm thinking that Gallup probably makes more sense. I think it would also be of value to look at what Gallup's numbers would project to if he got the number of targets that Cooper does, right now. Either way, this is about money.

Who's getting paid 22m a year? Cooper's deal was for 20m a year. Cooper (26) is only 2 years older than Gallup (24) and a lot more accomplished. The NFL has not had poor viewership. The cap will most likely stay the same. I would move gallup and keep cooper and ceedee. The Ceedee pick had more to do with the flexibility of keeping Gallup than it did amari. I can't believe you typed all of that up just be wrong on so many things. That's pretty spectacular if we are being honest.

No, Cooper is getting paid 22 a year. Look at his contract.

It's easy to say I'm wrong but it's a lot tougher proving it. Get to proving Son.
