I don't think we could get as much for Gallup. I mean, maybe a 1st, but I think because he hasn't played as a No.1 except when Cooper was out it would be more like a 2nd.

yeah again I think amari would fetch more, just not how much more. And then given the wild state of wr contracts I’m not sure what his deal will be next year. I do know that amari brings more to the table and his contract is very manageable after next year. So it’s just more of a whole picture kind of deal for me. Lamb could really render it all moot tho

From PFT, I thought this might make for some good conversation and debate:

The Cowboys seem to be in fire sale mode, particularly in the midst of a “this is fine” fire on the defensive side of the ball. Here’s the question: Would they trade offensive players, too?

There’s one name to wonder about as the trade deadline approaches, in our view. Receiver Amari Cooper.

Yes, the Cowboys gave up a first-round pick to get him two years ago. Yes, they gave him a new contract after the 2019 season ended.

But consider these facts. First, CeeDee Lamb fell into their laps after Cooper re-signed. Second, Michael Gallup is signed through 2021 to a bargain-basement rookie deal. Third, Cedrick Wilson is pretty damn good. Fourth, with Dak gone for the rest of the season, Cooper becomes a luxury the Cowboys don’t need.

Even though Cooper signed a five-year, $100 million contract, it’s really a two-year, $40 million deal. If someone would offer them a first-rounder for Cooper right now (last year, Mohamed Sanu brought in a second-round pick at the deadline), the Cowboys would be crazy to say no.

“But what about the cap consequences?” you may ask. Trading Cooper would trigger an $8 million charge in 2021, but it would be offset by avoiding $20 million in cash and cap space — creating a $12 million net-cap gain for the Cowboys in 2021.

So any contending team out there looking for a high-end receiver (like the Packers), the window could be open to snatch Cooper from the Cowboys.

Neither Gallup, Lamb, nor Wilson have speed. Cooper is the guy teams have to double, and he still outproduces the other two.

I have some sympathy for refusing to pay *any* WR such big money. But Cooper over Gallup, and it's not close.

I believe you entertain trade options for Lawrence, Jaylon, Tyron, and Zeke. If high enough for Tyron and Zeke you make the deal. I’d give away Lawrence for a mid-round pick to get rid of the contract and Jaylon a 3rd day pick to get rid of that contract.

I'd give away Jaylon, Lawrence, or Zeke to anyone who would take them and their contracts.

I'd want to see how healthy Tyron turns out. I'm not giving him away, but I also doubt we could get much until another season after the neck surgery.

Gallup leaves now or after 2021.
Then we ride Cooper and Lamb as long as Cooper keeps playing at a high level.

for what? would anyone trade a 2nd round pick for a WR with 20M price tag?

Packers won't. They have to resign Bacht, King, Linsley, and Jones and only have 6 million left to work with. Those guys are all more important than a 20 million dollar receiver who disappears in half the games he plays. Plus the cap does down next year. not enough money....

I would prefer they trade Gallup because Cooper is only 26 and under contract. The premise we should all begin with is:
2-14 is the goal, try to get Lawrence. Even if that does not happen walk away from Dak. You will get 30 million in cap space back.
Dak will be happier someplace else, there are many teams looking for a QB. Do not pay him 40 per year when the team is not ready to win.
He is not great/elite.. he is good.
You will end up like Cousins and the Vikings.. please avoid that car crash. There is no good ending paying Dak. If they had won the SB this year then I understand like the Ravens had to do in 2012 after their SB.

Yes please. Even for a mid/high 2nd
Trade Gallup to the Eagles for a first... They need the player. There is no harm in doing this. I know the majority will disagree with me but do the smart thing.
We will not win a SB with keeping Gallup. The Eagles are desperate enough and stupid enough to believe they will something. Take advantage of a team like that.

No, not the Eagles. You're totally underrating Gallup as very good wr Solid, solid, #2. I would hate to see Gallup as a Eagle kicking Dallas's *** twice a year. Trade Gallup, if you must, but not to the arch rival Philly.
