Will Jerry get rid of McCarthy at end of the year or drag his feet?

looks like jerrry will give him at least 2-3 years and is taking the blame and credit for the players talent .

Either way , we have arrived at the rock bottom this year , so it really cannot get worse than a 5-11 or 4-12 year at this stage.

Good post. But.... It can be worse.. Being mediocre is worse.

As much as i don't like it, yes i think he keeps MM, Nolan is burned toast at the end of the year. Who knows, maybe Zimmer is brought in as DC after he gets canned at Minnesota.

I kind of wish we would give a coach like Brent Venables, DC for Clemson, a shot here as the DC. The guy has over 20 years experience coaching the defense and incredibly successful. He must be doing something right. Dabo don't get success without Venables.

Jerry can and will do whatever it takes to suit his fancy!

I seriously doubt he'll toss MM into the briar patch.

Firing Nolan wouldn't be a shock, though!

indeed. sick of mediority . But this team was probably gonna stay mediocre even without the injuries to zack and dak etc. last year was a preview. Those who believe Dak staying healthy could have resulted in a winning season are delusional. The defense is a mess, and full of overpaid mediocre talent. And the ones who got guaranteed contracts are tanking , including zeke.

When guys like a Belichick or Brady come into your building the standards go up and teams and other players on the roster move mountains in order to try and Win.

When you under perform like we do here and you reward guys for that then that is the standard you set.

Players in Dallas know that they can be treated like Superbowl champs and paid like it without ever doing what it takes to accomplish that.

dude, where have you been, this organization is on a planet of it's own, nobody walks in here and change anything unless they get Jerry's full blessing from top down, it ain't happening, Bill, Brady, nor Jesus

That's a lot of typing just to say you like doing things the Jerry Jones way and CATCH17 is looking at trends that win Titles around the league and I would rather ignore them and do things the Jerry Jones way.

When I say things in the offseason like we should move up in the draft for Herbert, Burrow, or Tua you're the guy calling me an idiot.

When I say things like i'd sign Tom Brady on a 2 year deal and let Dak walk you're the guy calling me an idiot.

When I say things like McCarthy is a lackluster hire and the fact GB is doing better without him and we should take a risk on someone like Urban Meyer or Lincoln Riley you're the type calling me an idiot.

You like doing things the Jerry way... I get it.. And Jerry's way will provide a lot of exciting Sundays and a nice 50/50 brand of football for you to enjoy.

I would rather do something radical and draft Pat Mahomes even though Alex Smith is not my problem.

I'd rather give up on the league leader passer in Jameis Winston and go sign a Tom Brady and go all in for 2 years.

I would rather give up EARLY on someone like Josh Rosen if I feel like I got a better option looking at me in the draft.

These radical moves are paying dividends for those teams.

OR we can do the smart thing like you and Jerry like to do.. The secret sauce type of stuff and watch our Superbowl continue to be a wildcard win once every 5 years.
This is an excellent post!

This is random but I’ll post it in this thread since we are speaking about what to do at the end of the year.

This was posted in the draft zone by another user.

It’s a radio segment discussing how to get Trevor Lawrence to Dallas.

2011:Cam Newton (MVP)
2012: Russel Wilson (Hall of famer)
2013: (bad year)
2014: (bad year)
2015: (bad year)
2016: Dak Prescott (OROY)
2017: Patrick Mahomes (MVP)
2018: Lamar Jackson (MVP)
2019: Kyler Murray (OROY)
2020: (Too soon to Tell)

The best quarterbacks of the past decade have been athletic playmaking quarterbacks. Drafting Trevor Lawrence may be the dumbest mistake a franchise can make. Hopefully, Fields will be available with the cowboys draft pick

2020 is a disaster all around for most teams. MM may get one more year but he has to fire Nolan and bring in someone to totally revamp the D. If that doesnt work he is gone. That's 2 years.. Keep in mind the Clapping Carrot got 10..

Jerry firing McArthy is an admission that the hiring in the first place was a mistake. He’s going nowhere.

You think there is a provision in McCarthy's contract where Jerry can just say he is incompetent and not pay him?

ask AB about it. He was fired with cause.

Yes. There is a clause. If Jerry’s lawyers are worth their money, they put that in there.

let’s hope they did, for Jerry’s sake. 8)

So Catch17 you said: "Also, the Packers have been better without him.."

They won a SB with him, so better is a relative term here IMO...

MM isn't going to be fired after 1 season, especially one with no off-season and mass injuries, including his QB.

AB was fired for conduct reasons. Simply deciding someone isn't as good at their job as you hoped is not "cause".

"Cause" refers to violations of policy … ethics, code of conduct, company procedures etc … not the employers miscalculation of a person's job skills.

IF team continues to implode and score under 10 a game and shows zero fight he will be fired, if they win 5 to 6 games and show improvement in a few aspects of the game then he will stay.

Trevor Lawrence is great athlete is far from a statue in the pocket, a lot more like Andrew Luck then Peyton Manning.

Though saying that Dallas as shot at Lawerence all threads talking about it should be taken down until the JEts win 2 games.

I can certainly understand the apprehension surrounding the hire and the frustration with thing so far. If they did dump the whole staff and a bunch of "players" (put it in quotes cause they ain't), I wouldn't be upset.

However, I don't think they will dump the whole staff based on one year. And i can't be upset with that either.

McCarthy may very well turn out to be a turd of a hire but if he is really trying to change the culture they have to give him a legitimate chance.
