2011:Cam Newton (MVP)
2012: Russel Wilson (Hall of famer)
2013: (bad year)
2014: (bad year)
2015: (bad year)
2016: Dak Prescott (OROY)
2017: Patrick Mahomes (MVP)
2018: Lamar Jackson (MVP)
2019: Kyler Murray (OROY)
2020: (Too soon to Tell)

The best quarterbacks of the past decade have been athletic playmaking quarterbacks. Drafting Trevor Lawrence may be the dumbest mistake a franchise can make. Hopefully, Fields will be available with the cowboys draft pick:flagwave::flagwave:

Fields plays exactly like a bigger Russel Wilson with similar arm talent and an uncanny sixth sense for the deep ball.

Lawrence’s ceiling is a worse Andrew Luck. Someone who in his BEST season didn’t even have numbers better than Russel Wilson’s WORST season since 2015

Too many fans forget that the QB position is the absolute hardest to find a quality starter. People acting like Trevor Lawrence is a lock to be great (even if we miraculously ended up with the #1 pick) are overlooking history.

If this organization chooses to not pay Dak (assuming he’s healthy is now a legit top 5-8 QB in this league) it would only be because they are going to do a complete 1989 type rebuild. I doubt JJ has the patience or fortitude to do that at 78.

I don't know why Luck was not on your list, maybe he didn't make OROY or MVP but he was the best QB to be drafted in the last decade. Mahomes and maybe Wilson are ahead now. If Luck had better protection he would still be around and top 3 QB in the league.

Trevor and Luck are similar in a lot of ways. Trevor might not be as much of a mobile QB.

It doesn't matter, you get a chance, you take Trevor and by by Dak.

No to 1st round QB, yes to defense.

Sheesh, thanks for so quickly giving up on Dak! Such disrespect. You do understand there is a very good chance Dak fully heals and comes back to playing well on that broken leg/ankle?
There's also a very good chance his career as he lived it is over.
He got greedy wanted the BIG BUCKS and his luck ran out.
Time will tell...

I don't know enough about Fields to speak of his skill, or lack thereof. I can make my humble assumptions of the known though. Lawrence is coached by Dabo, who also has a starting QB down in Htown. He looks pretty decent.

I think Lawrence looks better than Watson did, and if Watsons transition(especially under the disastrous BoB) to the NFL was good, I'd expect Lawrence to be the same.

Of course, as you and many before you have pointed out, history is not on Trevor's side, nor in his favor.

Nobody knows this for sure, but I seriously doubt the Cowboys WASTE any picks in next year's draft on a QB. There are just way to many REAL needs on defense that have to be addressed.

Dak didn't get greedy. Stop spreading lies. Dak was in agreement with the $35 mil/year offer. It was the length of the contract he was in dispute with, plus Jerry's refusal to include a "no tag" for the last year of the contract. By the time Dak had agreed to Jerry's final offer, time had run out, hence why Stephen and Dak afterwards agreed on a handshake that both were agreed to get the same final offer signed right after this season ends.

Sure, Dak is now relying on his broken ankle/lower leg to heal. By March, both Dak and the Cowboys will know whether it will heal fully or not. That's a whole month and a half before the Draft happens by the end of April. If Dak's injury shows signs of healing well and Dak is able to perform back to normal on it, expect Jerry and Stephen to offer Dak if not the same a slightly similar new contract offer with some safety clauses added just in case Dak reinjures that lower leg injury or if it suddenly starts bothering him in the future. If Dak's leg does not show good healing but takes longer to heal with it by March, Dak either will get franchise tagged once again or be allowed to shop his services elsewhere.

No you trade that pick for more picks for the defense.
If we were picking 1st overall and the Trevor Lawrence hype results in a classic huge trade-up for a QB, like when the Rams traded down from 2nd to 6th and got 2 more 1st rounders because Washington was desperate for RGIII? Yeah, I'd take that deal. Unless the doctors are telling me Dak's ankle is ruined and he won't be able to function again even as a pocket passer.

I'm taking Dak plus 3 1st rounders over Trevor plus the couple of big free agents we'd sign with Dak's money (which we'd be counting on our current front office and coaching staff to choose -- big bowl of "yikes").

And, of course, if we aren't picking 1st overall and we still have a hard-on for Trevor, that's the nightmare scenario. Imagine if we get suckered into trading up for him, and at that point it's Trevor leading a team that potentially doesn't have a 1st round pick again until Lawrence is in his 4th year. Somebody trading up for him this year better have a stocked roster already because they might be negotiating the kid's extension before he ever plays on a team with another 1st round rookie again.

Laugh it up all you want. Your way of thinking is actually hurting the Cowboys, NOT HELPING THEM.

Truly makes me believe you are an Eagles fan.
Our difference is simply.....I am a Cowboy fan while you're a DAK FAN.
What are you going to do when Dak is toast?
OMG....

You're a bigger Dak lover than anyone around here. All you have shown for the past 4+ years is to have Dak on your mind, 24/7, even if all you do is cut him down. I think you've got a man-crush on Dak. Probably fan-hurt because Dak never responded to you, signed your Dak jersey or something?
