When Mike McCarthy was hired last January, it was pretty obvious this front office and probably Big Mac himself believed this team was close to being a legit contender. I would argue that’s why Jerry hired him- to be the HC of a contender.
But as we all have watched so many of our starters go down with injuries, along with big drops in performance from many of the highest paid players, and with glaring holes on defense, it has seemed clear this team is due for a major overhaul.
Serious Question: Is Mike McCarthy the right Head Coach for a rebuild?
- Is he capable of doing the long, hard and painful work of getting bad in order to get better?
- Can he draft and develop players?
- Can Big Mac be the Jimmy Johnson type who can break down, then rebuild the culture here?
My belief is I don’t think MM is that kind of HC. But I’m not sure Jerry is willing or able to accept how bad his roster really is.
What say you? Is Big Mac the right HC for a rebuild?
