Ronnie I am concerned with Smitty's health long term and would consider taking Sewell from Oregon if we end up with a top 5 pick. Him getting hurt and nicked up effects his performance when he's out there. And now he's missing multiple games at a time.

I think the concern for Tyron's health is warranted however if the surgery took care of that lingering neck issue (and I know that's not guaranteed) then we get peak (or close to peak) Tyron back for 14 games a season for the next 5 years.. I'm taking that over anything coming out of college. Like I said, you need insurance just in case there is something else chronically wrong or if just normal wear and tear takes him down.. But remember D-Ware had much the same issue which led to our parting ways with him.. and all he did was go add two more pro bowls and a Super Bowl to his Hall of Fame credentials. The smart play is to get yourself a developmental tackle in the mid rounds.. I don't think we can roll with UDFAs as our safety net another year. And it's not like Cam Erving is on like his 4th team and playing his 3rd position because he's good ..

If we are in the top 2 picks I'd take a qb and let Dak walk. Just money ball. Use his cap room for some serious defensive free agents. Not the bargian basement dollar general stuff we seem to sign. Other than that happening, I'd go first 2 rounds defense then an O Tackle. The rest of the draft, more defense with possibly a 4th round running back to replace Zeke.

Let's put this in football terms, shall we?

Dak takes the snap and is locked on his goal (1st read), he has to start moving in the pocket because that read still isn't open. Finally, he spots a way to get most of what he wants (2nd read), but it's too late just as he was going to sign (throw a pass) his time runs out (Sack/fumble).

He was just a split second late in making his decision. Too bad for Dak, and honestly too bad for us fans that would like this whole situation behind us.
Blah Blah Blah...

Honestly guys it matter at this point who fault it is... if Dak comes back healthy, he will get signed. If he doesn't, other arrangements will be made after addressing the Def. and O-line issues. If so called fans disagree then they just have a deeper issue for Dak that can't be solved in reality.

Russell Wilson and Mahomes are light years ahead of Luck.

Wow I can't even tell you how f&$&@ing wrong you are. It's like you have no skill in evaluating football mechanics or skill. You just watch it, like a woman does. He was the highest rated QB since peyton to come out of college and he didn't disappoint in the NFL.

Luck is one of the best QBs of the last decade, problem is he came into a **** team and was relied on to do too much and to top it off he didn't have a good defense like Russell always had in Seattle. Russell has now come into his own and can carry a team, defense or not but it took years for him to get that good. Luck wasn't give. That opportunity and retired early because of the abuse he racked up.

Where is the colts head Coach right now that oversaw the colts during luck's reign? Oh he's a DC somewhere.

Who is wilson and mahomes HCs? 2 of the best nfl coaches that have been doing it a LONG time.

Stick to whatever it is you do for a living, you suck at evaluating football talent at the QB level, at least.

Because he was in the same draft class as Russel Wilson.

Russel Wilson is a far better quarterback than Andrew luck ever was.

Better stats, accomplishments, record against winning teams, and played with far worse OLs and receiver help while accomplishing the majority of this

And you are a moron. Both if their O lines were equally horrible for years. Offensive weapons? Not counting TY hilton it's a wash and even with TY, Luck is the reason he was so highly rated.

Seattle had one of the most dominant defenses during that stretch though where Indy didn't. We all know how important a defense is for an offense. See current cowboy situation.

If luck was on a good team with a good coach he would still be the best QB in the league right now.

For you short sighted idiots, russell was still considered top 15, 2-3 years ago. It's only been in the last 1-2 years that he has improved even more and is now in the top 5.

But go ahead and keep talking football, your like the Pop Warner dad's on the sidelines. Talk alot but don't really know what the f#&$ you are talking about. Your 300pound a$$e$ haven't seen a football glory day since your9th grade JV stint.

Peoples train thought is don’t sign dak (easily a top 10 Qb) let him walk and use his $$ on defense. You guys really think this FO will actually pursue and sign FA to help this defense w that money? since when have we been big spenders? This past off season has scared off Stephen jones even more. (Haha, poe, Everson, Worley, McCoy all gone) yeah SJ ain’t signing crap...

Andrew Luck never had a defense, oline or running game until he was all beat up and hurt then they realized he needed help. His first 3 season with the Colts he went 11-5 carrying the team on his arm. Colts ruined him.

The Jones boys went cheap signing has been names instead of landing a jamal adams. The only way this team gets help on defense is the draft.

Nobody is going to know if Dak can play again until camp opens - he may not even pass a physical by then. It's unlikely that the injury will have no effect - the question is whether the impact will be significant or minimal. Even if he regains 99% capacity, it will take at least a season post recovery for him to get mobility/confidence back. I know two people who got similar injuries in football - this is not an easy recovery - its a harder recovery to e.g. ACL.

Front office knows this. You cannot plan to rely on Daks recovery.

Trevor has had the luxury of playing on teams loaded with talent in high school and college. I always wonder how players perform when they are not surrounded by the most talent.

That's the beauty of him coming to Dallas, he'll be in a top 3 offense.

I don't know why Luck was not on your list, maybe he didn't make OROY or MVP but he was the best QB to be drafted in the last decade. Mahomes and maybe Wilson are ahead now. If Luck had better protection he would still be around and top 3 QB in the league.

Trevor and Luck are similar in a lot of ways. Trevor might not be as much of a mobile QB.

It doesn't matter, you get a chance, you take Trevor and by by Dak.
Nailed it. I would take Luck off the couch right now, broken spirit and all, over Cam Newton.

2011:Cam Newton (MVP)
2012: Russel Wilson (Hall of famer)
2013: (bad year)
2014: (bad year)
2015: (bad year)
2016: Dak Prescott (OROY)
2017: Patrick Mahomes (MVP)
2018: Lamar Jackson (MVP)
2019: Kyler Murray (OROY)
2020: (Too soon to Tell)

The best quarterbacks of the past decade have been athletic playmaking quarterbacks. Drafting Trevor Lawrence may be the dumbest mistake a franchise can make. Hopefully, Fields will be available with the cowboys draft pick:flagwave::flagwave:

Fields plays exactly like a bigger Russel Wilson with similar arm talent and an uncanny sixth sense for the deep ball.

Lawrence’s ceiling is a worse Andrew Luck. Someone who in his BEST season didn’t even have numbers better than Russel Wilson’s WORST season since 2015
That's what we need another dim wit athlete playing the role of QB

Russel Wilson hasn’t had that since 2016 and is putting up better numbers then Luck though?

Colts never had an o-line as Seattle had (ranked bottom 5)

Imagine thinking T. Lawrence isn't athletic lololol
He runs a 4.7 forty and busted a 67 yard run on OSU’s defense last year in the BCS semifinal. Granted, that run was after OSU lost Wade but still...

Lawrence out ran a very fast defense.
