Does anyone like this QB class

It’s early days but I just don’t like any of these QBs outside of Lawrence.

Fields.. Just plays like Dak part 2...

Lance.. There is some upside but he needs a lot of work.. Release is slow and he likes to pat the ball...

I kind of like Mac Jones. He plays in an optimal situation but he makes good reads and he slides around and moves in the pocket like a pro QB should do.. He’s interesting..

Overall though I’m just not a fan and if we want to avoid the Dak pay day I think another option could be a 1 year deal for a vet like Stafford or Darnold.. Give them half the year and if we are struggling do our best to tank.

We need an affordable option at QB that let’s us add players to the team.
Who cares about this QB class? Idiot’s? We have our QB, we need to draft a fricken safety and a DT and a offensive lineman not a fricken QB. You ignorants or just so fricken ignorant.

There's a difference between a running QB (Lamar, Cam, Vick, Bridgwater), and a scrambling QB. I'll take a gifted passer who can scramble over the "athletic" guy who's a "could get better" passer. Staubach, Young, Favre, Rodgers, Mahommes, Wilson (even Romo *sad tears*) were/are great passers, not runners. However, they could all escape, make plays with their feet when needed, and keep the defense honest. Steve was probably the best ever at it (All respect given to the Dodger). I'd love to see tape on a 2020 prospect that gives me generational talent vibes. I just don't see it.

Zack Wilson Quarterback BYU is a player to look at. He is their most talented quarterback prospect since Steve Young.
Watched a few games. Seems to go thru progressions slowly after his first read, and not a fan of his release. Late pick. He's definitely no Steve Young.

Nice stuff..

Watch more of Mac Jones though.. I'm not sold on him yet.. He's well protected and plays in an optimal environment but he is pressured he slides around and makes plays.

He's not a super athlete but he can move and his footwork might be better than all of these guys.

Fields.. Getting a lot of hype..

For me he likes to look stare down 1 guy. He always throws to wide open targets. It's just to EZ for him at tOSU.

With that said.. He looks like Dak part 2 but more athletic and as all know you can win with Dak.. Especially a Dak that can run a lot better.

Lance I need to watch more but his release and mechanics I do not like right now. But those are things that can be worked on.
Mac is the best mechanically sound passer from my eyes. Even when he gets pressure, he stands in there, and laces it. He'd get killed with our rag tag line, though.

He's almost a carbon copy.

Watching the tOSU V PSU game. Just saw Fields make a cross field lob throw under duress. The pass was perfectly placed to teh outside shoulder to defeat the under lb and the safety rotating over. One of my biggest complaints with Dak is about ball placement. It matters a heck of a lot. The ability to "throw a guy open" matters a heck of a lot in playoff situations when you're up against a good defense. Ball placement matter because when you're trying to win a PG in Seattle you're not going to get many shots and when you do get them the QB has to stick the throw into a tight window. Com playoff time every throw is important. You can't give downs away consistently with bad throws that don't give the receiver a chance.

100%

Some folks think the job of a QB is to just throw the ball in the vicinity of a WR.

Ball placement can be difference between throwing a slant for a 7-yard gain or a 50-yard gain if you lead the receiver and allow them to catch without breaking stride.

Yep..

His release reminds me of Romo.

He’s got a lot of Romo in his game.

He’s less nifty but I think he can run in a straight line much better than Romo.

He processes a lot too.

I just want to see him under immense pressure and that’s something we don’t get with these players at these big schools.

Mac Jones could challenge for the #2 QB spot if he is in this draft.

I think he shows more ability in the pocket than Fields does and Fields doesn’t use his athleticism enough to validate the dip the ability to read the entire field and quick release that Jones has.

Fields does have more upside though but I think his upside as a passer is about like Dak’s.

Everything about Fields game just screams Dak Prescott. I can’t believe how identical they are.

I'm in the minority here...maybe alone lol.

But I'm not sold on Lawrence's game translating as being a given.

If he ends up in the wrong place with the wrong staff it could be an issue.

Also half of what makes him so effective is his legs. Be it injury or the NFL game being much faster.....that may not work out for him.

Chances are he is a good player. A great one though is something else, and I just dont think it's a 100% certainty that he has the best career in this class.

Moot as far as we are concerned. Jerry is trading that pick if we are at 1 or 2 and that's the right thing to do IMO.

Watch this game.. Watch how he constantly escapes pressure and makes plays under pressure.

Keep in mind.. This is a 20 year old kid doing this.

If you're picking 1 overall yea...Lawrence is arguably the best QB prospect since Luck. I need to watch more of Fields but after that it's pretty blah.
