Cowboys likely can’t retain Dak next year. Too many teams will want him given his mvp level play the past two seasons.

we need to be realistic
They can tag him again or draft someone and sign a cheap vet till the kid is ready to play. Lots of players id rather go with than Darnold.

Darnold is garbage......he has about the same number of INT as TD... and thats not even talking about his fumbles. He has been that way since USC.. No thanks.... Another of the overhyped USC QB factory.

Jets are tanking and a 3rd may get it done.

He’s a starting quality quarterback who would be both An amazing insurance policy if they can’t sign Dak next year and potentially a franchise QB
Team is winless...he's a starting quality QB.

Its a ridiculous post..2 wins is already out of the Lawrence race and the season isn't over..in addition, nobody w the top pick is trading out of that spot..people don't actually think

Yeah. That’s what I was saying. Sounds like we agree, my brother.

I would have rather given up that 7th round pick for Darnold. They won’t take it? Oh well.

Darnold has a lot of experience and he’s only 23..

He’s also played in a horrible situation and he’s got a lot of talent..

He’s a great gamble for some team.. Just not us..

Going all in for Trevor Lawrence is the move.. Not doing that makes us fools.

If I’m the Cowboys GM I’m moving mountains to get Lawrence on this team.

We only can dream ..JJ and his son are sold on Dak so he is here to stay for a while until they realize they made a mistake as usual and hit rest again

In his 3 seasons, he's posted passer ratings of 77, 84, and 65. His career passer rating is 78.

To put that in perspective, Dak's career passer rating is 97 and our trash heap of a fanbase thinks he's terrible. Dalton's career passer rating is 87, and he was a bottom-shelf, bad starter. A guy like Darnold, with his passer rating 10 points worse than Dalton's, is a mediocre backup, basically. And he's got 1.5 seasons left on his contract.

Exercising his 5th year option means paying him the average of the top 10 QB salaries, if I understand right. We'd be insane to do that. So we're talking about spending a 3rd rounder on a 1-year rental of a mediocre backup.

No thanks. Not even a littler interested in this idea.

You think Dak would have a 97 passer rating on the Jets the last 3 years? That said, I never liked Darnold.

If all it would cost is a 3rd I say do it. Right now Darnold would cost a 1 but if the Jets land Lawrence they may let him go for a 2 or 3. At this point with everything thats happened Dallas should be looking at stock piling draft picks by trading players.

I could not of said it any better. I might take a free agent flyer on him like a Winston and pay him a minimal salary. Then see how he adapts to our system in a few years. It’s unfortunate he plays for the Jets but I think the Jets front office would think you are a sucker if you give up a high draft pick for him.

What has Darnold done to be worth a 1? He is not cheap after this season. His cheap years have been waisted.

Sam Darnold wouldn't play well for the 'Boys, only against the 'Boys.

He’s played terribly. A 3rd would be highway robbery by the jets. He’s most likely cut at the end of the year
