incredibly nice man.
he'd send me stuff...autographed photos,letters.
i'd send a thank you letter.
he'd answer it.
he didn't have to do that.
but he did.
and i wondered...does he do that for everybody that wrote him?

Walker may have been the extreme example, but he wasn't alone in regards to a good work ethic going back to the 80s. He probably showed up to camp already in shape. Today I think guys show up to camp to get back in shape. Probably why you see a lot of injuries early on. With the money these guys make today they're probably focused on having fun in the off season, not conditioning.

I remember my dad talking about Looney when I was a kid growing up in Texas. My dad met Looney in the early 60's. I just recall my dad shaking his head and saying, "h3ll of a football player, but one crazy son of a $@$$@$"
