Becuz we over invest our cap into 6-8 players the Jones love.

and we consider defense as an annoying issue to be economized..

and the Jones pay for sizzle with their offense to sell tickets and team merchandise.

There is no limit there. That much is abundantly clear.

Never was that impressed.

However, we simply don't know just how much power he had. Was Jaylon his idea? Was it his idea to pass on trench stalwarts such as Jarron Reed?

I'd have to know who was actually making the decisions before I really know whether I like his work or not.

Will McClay can only scout them, set up the draft board, and give the board over to Jerry Dumbo GM Jones.

Jerry Jones cut Taco Charlton, and put Trysten Hill in the dog house because of "Grumpy Old Men". Jones chose to let Hitchens, and Wilson walk to Super Bowl rings in KC. However, until this season, through Jerry Dumbo GM Jones stupid decisions of drafting one legged LBs, drug addicts, the mental ill, and cheap coming off injury free agents, Will McClay has done a pretty good job covering up his chamber pot of mistakes.

Problem on defense, not offense. Something is wrong with the org, but could be lower than McClay, though he does have the responsibility for oversight.

I also get the feeling that McCarthy/Nolan picked a lot of the defensive free agents. We went older and more expensive than usual, and it was a total disaster. Probably wouldn't have taken The Kneeler in previous years.

The offense is just churning out good calls, particularly in the draft. Went up and got Biadasz. Lamb, no brainer. Da Nooch? 108QB rating! Woot Woot! GOAT!

Hitchens left for big $. Nothing Jones could do. I mean, if KC offered you the kind of money they offered Hitchens, you would have left also.

So let's not rewrite history and make it sound like Jones let Hitchens just walk down the road and did nothing to stop him when the bottom line is there was nothing he could do to stop him.

Other than Dak, I can't think of one other good player Dallas has gotten in the bottom half of the draft the last 10 years.

I was shocked McClay touted the return of David Irving, after the way he dissed this team.
That would have surely been a foolhardy and lame decision, if there ever was one!! :facepalm:

I'm no fan of Stephen Jones but at least, he knew better than to fall for such a foolish idea.

That is what happens when you lose the only leader in the locker room. Say what you want about JG but this never happened on his watch. These players acting like what they put on tape will be forgiven. That crap gonna get them traded.

I think all he is responsible for are the draft boards, FA rankings and other teams PS rankings, He can offer his expertise and knowledge but he can't make them follow it.

WINNING CURES ALL ILLS. Lets remember this. What made him a near genius or savant now makes him a liability. Such is the life and times of a GM...and lets not fool ourselves, he IS the real GM of this team,not the Joneses.Everything changes if we beat Philly tonight and the Nooch has a decent showing. If we get blown out badly, its all over for Will McClay and many others. Players down on the field have to be held accountable. Sean Lee is a china doll and even when healthy, wasn't making routine reads and tackles. So there's that. He has had better days. Diggs should never be out on the field starting,NOT YET.

Agree for the most part, although the McClay and the rest of the Cowboys personnel staff nailed this past NFL 2020 draft.
