Cowboys rookie Diggs on 2 picks vs. Eagles: 'I'm starting to get the hang of it'

The rookie made two impressive picks in Sunday night’s game and was a rare bright spot in another lackluster performance by the Cowboys.

Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia offense had clearly targeted Diggs in their game plan. Rookie wideout Jalen Reagor scored the Eagles’ first touchdown on a short pass in which Diggs was the cover man.

But the 23-year-old cornerback decided he wasn’t going to be picked on all night long.

“You’ve just got to keep fighting. That’s the beauty of the position,” Diggs told reporters after the game. “We’re all professionals; they’re going to catch some passes. You’ve just got to respond and keep competing throughout the whole game.”

Outside of QB, CB may be the toughest transition to make to the NFL. Yeah he still gets burned a lot, but you just watch the kid, and he more than passes the eye test. You can see the potential is through the roof. Should only get better and better.

I mean hell Wentz does this for everyone. Builds that confidence up lol.

I'll say this though. Diggs is always around the football. Sure, quarterbacks seem to be targeting him but even on plays that don't involve him you'll see him around the football. That's a great quality to have as a corner. He's a nice solid piece to start off with. Let's hope this team can at least take advantage of his cheap contract and build up a defense before his deal is up. Nice value to get in the 2nd. We are going to desperately need that on defense probably in the first 3 rounds. After that is just bonus as far as hitting on players.

He's always looking back at the ball when its thrown. He's gotten his hands on 4 or 5 of them before this but dropped them. He'll probably always be a guy who gets lets of picks but also gives up big ones when he bites wrong

That's the tale of the tell when it comes to ballhawks.

And if that's your little bubba in that avi?
Absolutely amazing pic. Gorgeous.

Let’s slow down here. It was the Eagles and we still lost. I think we’re hyping ourselves up a bit too much after that. We did take a step up, yes, but again, it was against the Eagles (who mind you, looked absolutely horrid) and we are still currently a bottom 5 team in the league. Proud of Diggs for being a ballhawk that last game, but Wentz has done that for a lot of corners this year. Something had to give.

How many picks has this team had against Wentz the past 5 years? It’s fine to acknowledge it (as you did).

I liked Diggs predraft and he's playing similar to what I expected, but man when he smooths out his game... it's on.

Cool getting 2 picks. However, 1 pick vs Big Ben is worth 3 from Wentz. JuJu, Claypool, Johnson and Washington is a whole 'nother animal too. Keep it up Rook, show up this Sunday.
