Why do people keep insisting on calling Zeke fat?

I'm a fan of tribal solidarity, from which nose rings originated from, but doing it for fashion?
I'm on your side in this fight. Doesn't look good on either sex unless it has meaning.

It doesnt look good even if it has meaning.

I understand your stand.
In certain nations and tribes it's very attractive, or a declaration of some sort of authority, or accomplishment.
We shouldn't be myopic, but also don't misconstrue this as me defending his nose ring.
I'm not doing that.

Could be but it's gone to a different level this year. Running the ball takes energy.. A LOT of it. Pulling away from 300 pound men grasping at you requires a massive amount of effort so I don't question the need for a blow from time to time. Still "the previous two seasons" might be a stretch. He led the NFL in rushing two seasons ago and was 4th last year despite having no training camp. Totally his fault for holding out but no less a reality. This year is different.. It's like he need oxygen every 10th snap or so. That aint normal.. Like you say it could just be conditioning.. Frankly I would chalk a lot of it up to the stupid shotgun run scheme. He's not built for it and it does not suit his style of running. If we are not going to be a power running team then we don't need a power running back. Get a 195 pound scatback and pair him with Pollard.

In defense of those tribes, they havent invented a mirror yet.

He’s not fat, but he’s not as good as he used to be.

He has run into the same issue Saquon Barkley has, who’s in phenomenal shape ..... ACL tear not withstanding.... he needs a good OLINE in front of him to be the player we all want him to be.

The guy parades around with his shirt up displaying his impressive six pack during warmups before every game .. How people conveniently unsee that and keep claiming he's fat, out of shape, yadda yadda yadda is just another illustration of just how blind their hatred is for this guy.
It fits their narrative, watch out you will be accused of bad eye tests and who knows what else, a lot of spin Dr’s around here.

Yeah we need a running back who can run for 1500 yards and 15 TDs with no blocking and no passing game like.... well nobody.. cause nobody has ever done it..
And we need a QB who can overcome a defense that gives up 36 points per game like.... well.. same guy.. nobody.

Many a bower bird has died so a new guinea tribal chief could sport a fancy headdress that makes cam newton look blase. So too the noble bald eagle whose plummage adorned the heads of many lakota chiefs.

I disagree..

Aaron Rodgers takes.

Pat Mahomes takes.

Russell Wilson takes.

2016 Cowboys Oline and Zeke used to take.

They have competent offensive lines and a defense that is not in last place. Put your agenda down for a second and realize you were defending Romo with the lousy defense argument a few years before Dak. Come on, Catch.

No QB wins without a team around them. Romo should have resolved this completely forever on this board.

The same reason everyone likes to tell me I'm skinny. We're all built different. Zeke is built like a tank. Jealousy is #1 cause, or an inferiority complex.

There's a difference between bulk and fat

Lacey was fat he didn't have big bone structure muscle

Zeke is certainly not Eddie Lacy nor CJ Anderson. it's a solid bulk, but overall with his frame, it is added bulk that clearly has restricted his burst and agility.

Have you noticde Zeke doesn't even high hurdle over tackles anymore ?

i still strongly theorized that the Garrett regime likely had him bulked up to try to be a more of a bell cow pounder and it cost him burst and Agility

Couple of off-seasons ago, Zeke chose to concentrate on STRENGTH. I said at the time that this was a mistake. He should have concentrated on agility and speed as he was already plenty strong enough. Well, he is CLEARLY stronger now; but he is slower and less agile. To be fair, "slower and less agile" for Zeke is still faster and more agile than most of the human population of Earth. But I still contend that he focused on the wrong areas.

It's an interesting take.. but men tend to get a little thicker naturally as they enter their mid to late 20's anyway. Emmitt came into the league at 205 and left it at 220. I would also challenge your assertion that he's clearly stronger. Stronger guys don't get the ball ripped away from them at the rate he has this year. But I appreciate a thoughtful, reasoned response. I don't remember his making any statement regarding concentrating on strength but I have no reason to doubt what you have stated here. I have seen him in person three times.. twice at the 49ers new stadium .. once in the preseason when he didn't play and then once when they played during the regular season and once last year at the Vikings game at the Death Star. I've seen him in warmups all three times. He is a strapping, thickly muscled dude.. He looks much rounder in pads than he does out of them. Frankly the guy has borderline bodybuilder genes. People who throw out "fat" to describe him demonstrate a lack of understanding of physiology.

He’s not fat. He’s just not as fast as he used to be. He’s not Troy Hambrick slow, just not as quick off the line or that breakout rookie year Zeke had. I miss that.

While he's certainly in better shape than most of us, he looks like he's got enough extra weight to slow him down. Put on 5 or 10 extra lbs. of clothing and see how much slower and less agile you are. I'm definitely not saying he's fat, but he could probably run a little faster, with more burst, if he lost a few.

Maybe so... but he might also need that extra girth to survive behind this offensive line. Still it would not be the first time the Cowboys took an explosive running back and bulked him up only to see him lose his explosiveness. They did the same thing to Felix Jones, who was one of best big play threats in the league as a change of pace back until they got the bright idea to have him put on 10 pounds and make him an every down back. That picture is actually an old one since he has fewer tattoos in it. He's actually more ripped now than he was in that picture.
