We are all well aware that all rookies were going to be behind the eight ball this year due to lack of any off-season, but to be a gameday inactive for the entire season is troubling. We discussed it may be difficult to find him snaps with the defense this season, especially him learning a new position at safety, but him not being a core special teamer doesn't bode well for his long-term future with the team. I hope I'm wrong, but Robinson is trending to be a draft bust.

Huh? Where did this come from? He's only been a Cowboy a little over 6 months, in the middle of a pandemic with no mini camp, no training camp no preseason and joining a team with a new coaching staff. It's simply premature to say his future isn't looking good or say he's trending to be a draft bust given the conditions he's joined the league. We have to give him a chance and he really hasn't had one yet. Especially considering he was a 4th round pick not a 1st or 2nd rounder.

At least one guy is bound to be a total bust out of this draft.

I'm hoping it's a numbers game as far as dressing so far.

Although I dont trust this staff much as far evaluating, recognizing, and therefore playing the best players.

Hard to rate him without any practice, preseason, or game tape. None of us have any idea.

Yeah, he has been inactive. I would not extrapolate much from that on a 5th round draft pick. He was not drafted with this year in mind.

Anae has been active but hardly sees any action. He has looked decent when out there.

It would be nice to get him active and see what he has. Get some real data on him and see where he is in his growth progression. Maybe soon. Can’t hurt to try him.

Cowboys playing this perfectly. Hide him all year so we can't see him on the field. Then during the offseason they will leak that he looks great in workouts and has really improved over the past year. This will give Dallas the impression that they are fine with safety and will not need to upgrade the position. You see....perfect.

That act sounds very familiar. Nice job.

plus, you don't wanna win this year anyway. Opponents will never see it coming next year. Brilliant!!

I would hope he can be active soon at the very least for STs.

The team is still selling postseason hopes publicly, but hopefully they are at least thinking about seeing some young guys getting some action too as they continue to lose.

If they don't want to re-sign Woods, start getting these raw guys some experience and possible lumps out of the way in a lost season.

Especially for someone like Reggie, who did play in D1, but in the AAC.

We can look at Hill last year as far as extended periods being inactive to see that it does not necessarily mean they guy is going to be a bust. Before his injury, some could argue that Hill was playing about as well as anyone on defense this year. Some guys take more time than others to put it together.

lol.. I can feel the pain this team brings you through this post.

What's bad is everything there is likely true.

ST guys so need a position to play especially with all the injuries this year. I'm assuming he just doesn't have the new position down yet, which is understandable. We have enough guys playing ST currently. No reason to inactivate one who could actually play if injuries were to creep up. Playing on ST won't help him learn S.

I kind of think you are right. If the guy is not even better than Worley at this point, is there a lot of hope for him? Without seeing him play, that is the only basis I have in my analysis!

Robinson was a corner in college.. Corners are typically allergic to tackling.. Guess what you have to do on special teams.. That's right.. tackle.. If he is bad at tackling or just not anxious to do it then the move to safety will fail. Corners can get away with being bad tacklers if they can shut receivers down.. Safeties can't..

FWIW, here is a link to a scouting report for him:

https://bleacherreport.com/articles...-2020-scouting-report-for-dallas-cowboys-pick

STRENGTHS

—Primarily played corner at Tulsa but projects well as a slot corner/safety hybrid.

—Versatility for days; can match up on the outside with bigger receivers, in the slot with tight ends or with running backs out of the backfield.

—Recovered from an injury his junior year to have his most productive season in 2019 with three interceptions.

—Can play press at the line of scrimmage against receivers or tight ends.

—Height, weight, speed winner (6'1", 205 lbs, 4.44-second 40-yard dash)

WEAKNESSES

—Struggled to mirror in man coverage; will most likely be a slot corner in the NFL.

—Shies away from contact; slow to come up in the run.

—Slow to react to the ball or ball-carriers.

—Relies too much on his hands in coverage.

If Reggie Robinson were anything close to a plug and play type guy, he wouldn't have been a fourth round pick. Obviously, he's raw and will require more time before he's ready to be tested as a starter. The fact that he's not even a special teamer does cast some doubt that he'll get there, though. Yet, the Cowboys aren't the kind of team to give up on anyone with a fair shot to succeed. We simply need to be as patient as the team is. ;)
