Where to go from here?

From the past two games, I think we obviously see a team that has “vastly improved” (relatively speaking.) of course we still suck, but I see a lot of areas in which we have done a lot better in, including

- special teams has looked GREAT. The returns have been good. The fake plays have been good. The blocked kicks today have been great. I know many here haven’t been a fan of Bones when it comes to the timing of some of his trick plays, but he’s definitely a keeper.

-defense has vastly improved in almost all areas. Of course our secondary is still terrible, but Diggs has made great strides, and likely will continue to do so going into next season. Once we get him some safety help and another good CB along side him to help, our secondary should vastly improve.

-Gilbert played well considering he was playing against the best defense in the league behind a makeshift line. Of course he wasn’t amazing, but he’s been the best out of all our backups. Keep him in for the Ravens game and see what he’s got. We got nothing to lose.

-Coaching has... improved? I’m not too sure on this one but we’ve made adjustments. Last week, for example, since DiNucci is extremely unskilled, I liked that we tried to put in some trick plays to hide his terribleness, instead of forcing him to do things he’s not good at. Same thing today. McCarthy is actually getting upset on the sidelines. Nolan... dare I say, is actually doing... well? He’s still bad, but he’s improving. That’s what I like to see.

not sure what Jerry and/or Stephen said or did to this team, but something happened to this team before that Philly game. This team is back to looking like they actually care.

So what do you guys say? Where do we go from here? Make Gilbert the backup? Keep the coaching staff into next season? What defensive players would you build off of for next season? What players are you looking into drafting?

I was happy with the defense and ST performance today. I think on the offense side, we need to grow some balls and go for the obvious 4th down. We payed Zeke for a reason.

They need to get rid of the leftover Garrett era stink. That means bye bye Kellen Moore. Bye Crawford. Bye Jaylon. Bye Zeke.

The difference in effort and attitude you're seeing is they cut some malcontents and underperformers. That sends a message. They need to keep doing that.

If I were MM I'd approach it like this..

Keep playing hard, trying out the young guys. Experiment. Treat it as preseason.

Keep the morale up by building the teams hopes for the future. Tell them the Super Bowl in 2021 starts now. No rebuilding, getting healthy and reloading.

Everyone's playing for their job. Fight to be a champ in 2021.

Just let the kids get some playing time.....will reap rewards next year. Glad they got rid of some old vets who weren't doing much anyway. This team does need discipline, but it will come with more time i hope. Stupid call on LVE, he was just trying to push the guy's arm away since he had him by the facemask. it was no attempted punch. Jaylon made a big bone headed mistake giving them a big first down. Oh well, this season is lost anyway, need to make it a learning experience.
