It is extremely unlikely Jerry Jones would extend an offer to hire Tony Romo in any capacity.

Likewise, it is highly unlikely Romo would agree to any position suggested by Jones.

The 'Tony Romo/Cowboys Salvation' fantasy has replaced the 'Jimmy Johnson/Dallas Redemption' daydream in suggestion frequency. Both men's lives have moved on beyond their old ones. Both men have shown zero inclination of coming back. And their former owner slash president slash general manager? He is still Jerry Jones. Stuck in neutral mentally. For three decades. And counting.

Wake up Virginia. Santa ain't flying in on no sleigh. Ever.

ALL game long Romo was spot on the money. He recognized our defense and the flaws that Big Ben spotted in it. He broke down Pitts defense and how to beat it. It's mind boggling how he sits in a booth next to Cowboy coaches and he's seeing stuff that they don't see or they are seeing and don't know how to offset it. Either way I would rather have my money on Romo than MM who doesn't have a clue on how to win in this league anymore!

Why the heck would Romo take a pay cut and give up a cushy gig working once a week for the chaos and hopelessness of trying to build a winner for Jerry Jones 365 days a year? Hell no Romo isn't doing that.

He gets paid way more than he would as a coach, less hours, better job security. If him being a player doesn't get him into the HOF, he will as a commentator so he be crazy to give that up.

But that’s just it, coaches have a whole different mindset. Also none of them including Gruden never have made the money that Romo is. Lastly they all where in a different place in their lives and much older.
I’m not sure Romo would be a good coach anyway. I’m just saying he could get bored in the booth after a few years. I would never rule it out. Never thought Deion would coach a college team either.

These threads are silly. You can't just hire a guy with zero coaching experience and give him the highest of coaching jobs.

It would be amazing to see what Romo's career would look like of he played for a competent organization. Easy HOF career imo.

Wasted career killer the cowboys are. Insert Romo 2.0 aka Dak

On the coaching aspect... I dont see him as a good head coach more so an offensive coordinator being the best spot.

I think Romo would be a very good advisor or coach for a defensive passing position.

Lol! Romo has the best after football gig he could possibly get. Why on earth would he want to coach. Less money, never get to see his wife and kids!
And if i was him, i would be happy to go home to her!!

Are you serious????? I can see Romo right now as the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, calling games sitting at his desk on a beach somewhere. Who wouldn't want that?????
Everyone wants that but that doesn't make it happen. He would be amazing at that job but it's not going to happen. The hours/money ratio for that HC job can't compare to the hours/money of his current job.

that he did. as good an announcer as he was right out of the gun, he's evolving into an even better one. instead of predicting individual plays, he's giving good insight into what it will take one team to beat the other. but at 17 million a year, don't see any way we can hire him.

Yeah, at best he would be a great OC. Head coach is about the program. He makes more money than he ever would coaching, can see his wife and kids, and could make a case for the HOF with a 25 year broadcasting career.

this... but like some said above why leave his cushy highly paid job with flexible scheduling for his family..

i dont think he would..

I mean where Peyton manning ,he could do this as well..hes doing things he couldn't since playing football since he was 8 and now can pay back the time lost with his family..

Coaching had to be in someone's DNA and be worth the sacrifice and i dont see romo doing it..

Please stop! MM will be fine given a chance to actually build the team for more then half a season to yr before fans want him fired..i see signs this staff with more of their players and time to get them up to date on schemes will pay off..

calm down on dream fanstasy scenarios that will never happen.. MM will be here 3 years minimum get used to it!

you all will save a lot of wasted time discussing coaching changes. Its not happening.

I don't think Romo cares as much about the Cowboys anymore like people want him to. He's not Aikman, Irvin, Moose, etc. who still follow the team closely and want them to do well. I'm sure he appreciates his time here and has a good relationship with those still in the organization but I don't think he has any desire to be "in" with them

What makes you think Romo wants to coach? You seriously think that the Cowboys coaching job is the most coveted job in all the world that everyone would just drop everything for? LOL...

I think he'll do it later on. Valuable family time for him now with the convenient work schedule.

Nor should he.
He did his job, gave it his all and was paid well for it.
He now has a new job he loves that also pays him well and allows his time for family and golf without getting his brains beat in.

Tony Romo is making $17 million a year talking about football, golfing, and playing with his kids. He's got it made.

He could just work on Sundays, who wouldn't want that gig???????
Romo would be 1st on the list of not wanting it. Throughout much of his career he was criticized as being a poor leader. Numerous stories of him not being liked by other players especially his backups and him being impatient with young players. He once called one of his wrs stupid in the huddle. He has his perfect after football job.
