Have you seen Daniel Jones, Carson Wentz? :muttley:
There's a helluva lot more than that.

It AMAZES me that some think every draft pick Dallas acquires will come complete with a cape and a big red "S" on their chests.

I know alot of us are calling for tanking the season... but.. our division sucks.. our defense got better.. and the QB is not entirely hopeless. Even the Oline made a slightly positive move. a few more tweaks, and they might be a challenger.

I understand tanking, but as a diehard.. inside I really want them to win. When the playoffs happen and the way 2020 has been, anything's possible.

Thoughts?
Not about what's possible but what's probable. This team would be one and done again if they made the playoffs.

We have 7 games left and I want to see football like I saw yesterday every week.

No one wants to watch on Turkey day coming up and watch a blowout, or a team that doesn’t care

Give me 7 more hard fought loses and I will be happy.

Tell me this first. What would the Cowboys do if they had picks at 1 or 2?

Free agency and draft selections are non guaranteed options for ultimate success. Some people think they are but the right mix of players and coaching is proven during seasons after the acquisitions are made and not before.

Tanking may net more wins. However, does tanking guarantee champion appearances and/or victories? Rhetorical question. The answer is no.

Tanking inspires hope for uncertain future outcomes. The future shall be dictated upon chance and smart decisions in the future. It does not hang solely upon specific draft positioning. Never has. Never will.

As we saw yesterday, they can play their arses off an still lose. This is a critical year to evaluate progress, development and effort. Can't do that in tank mode. Just play football and let the draft pick fall where will.

:hammer:

Well said, and I agree completely. If we were seeing poor effort out there, I'd have no problem with people talking about tanking. But given the effort level and improvements that I've seen over the past couple of weeks, I'd like to see that momentum continue, regardless of it affecting draft position. I think building a winning culture and getting players to buy in and believe in what we're doing is more important. Build a foundation.

How about the season finish BEFORE Dallas makes a pick.

That way it would be an intelligent pick.

Daniel Jones was the wrong draft pick.. No one thought he was the right pick at that spot.
Wentz has been hit and miss.

Dak is no sure thing. What about this team over the past 25 years, under Garrett, under McCarthy and boy wonder offensive coordinator makes you think we can win a SB?
You are not beating any elite team with our guys. We need to have a franchise guy, someone who will turn around this organization.
Getting a young QB will give them a chance to reset. I would go out and hire Joe Brady, draft a young QB. Be a smart organization for once in this generation.
We have not been smart since 1990.. Come a quarter of a century has passed since we were legitimate contenders..

If we have not been smart since 1990, what makes you think we will be with a high pick? That was the point I was trying to make as well.

Ok let me put it this way. The last time we had a franchise guy was Aikman. Please let’s try that again.
If this was a competition for 8-8 we would be the best in the league.
Get real fans. The SB will not happen if n our current mindset.

I appreciate you trying to come up with solutions, but I really don't even think about SB till this organization can prove they are even capable to make the NFC championship. We can get as real as we can and chew and claw each other on the forums, but that wont change the way the Jones run this organizations. The best we can do is sit back enjoy whatever is thrown at us and have a little fun doing that.

Rajat, I agree with you brother. Go read any of my random posts. We have not sniffed a second round win since 1996. I just want to reach a championship game. My only issue right now is do t pay a good player franchise money. Dak is not elite. I would rather draft a top 3 guy and get a Kyler who would change your franchise.
Dak is in the same category as Wentz, Goff, Cousins, guy you will instantly regret paying. Don’t overpay a good player.

It is all good, we can agree to disagree here on Dak. I agree with you on everything else. When we do our analysis at work, we explore the pros and cons of each scenario before deciding the route we are going to take. If we apply the same here in the football world, on one side we have a QB that we know well, has proved in a sense that he can take this team forward, the team rallies around him. On the other side we have an unproven guy out of college who can or cannot get to the same place Dak is at now. I guess the middle ground here would be to pick someone like Mac Jones from Alabama in the second round. Have him shadow Dak for a year and see if he is better. This way you don't use a high end pick on a QB that is unproven and still get a prospect if things dont work out in the future with Dak. Mac Jones is no scrub, he is leading candidate for the Heisman right now.

When you say mind set, what you really meant is ownership.
