Gilbert shows we don't need Dak

GG showed he can play better than any QB we have on our roster right now. I'd love him to be pur backup QB next year. If we play Dalton over GG I'm going to be mad.

I think this thread is pointless at this time. If GG plays well the rest of the season and we win the division and a WC game. Then this is a topic to discuss, but not now.

It's one game. No doubt Pittsburgh wasn't really "up" for this game, 7-0 vs 2-6, and the 2-6 team starting their 4th quarterback, with that qb having his first start ever. Trap game, as Parcells often said. And Rothlisbergher got hurt, he wasn't near 100%. No game experience on Gilbert.

It does appear Gilbert is better than DeNucci, possibly better than Dalton due to his running and being able to escape the rush. Still, too many missed easy throws, held the ball too long at times, missed open receivers. (Gee, where have we seen that before? Basically ever qb we've had starting this year, to a greater or lesser degree). Now due to Gilbert's short time on the team, could be that he can get better at that. Dak and Dalton, veteran players, maybe not.

Really to me this game went pretty well. I wanted to see improvement, especially on defense, and we got that to a small extent. I didn't want a win, need a high draft pick. Got that. Wanted to see if Gregory could continue to make an impact, got that. Wanted to see Zeke stop the fumbles, got that. Wanted some innovations, as in the kick return pass, got that. All that is geared towards next year, obviously this year is shot, already 7 losses, not going to win all the rest.

Cowboys did better than I expected, but the end result was the same...

Well..

Look around the league.. QBs really are easier than ever to find.

So many quality young QBs on cheap rookie deals.. How are we going to ever compete with that?

Dallas needs to stay out of the market of stupidity and go all in for Lawrence.
LOL. Again. Making yourself look foolish. QBs are easier than ever to find? Ask the Jets, Jags, and about 23 other teams about how easy a QB is to find. Your takes are laughable. Hows Dalton doing? Did he set fire to the league yet?

You are all in on Lawrence. What if he busts? Which. Judging by your history of QB evaluation I can actually see happening.

Man in his first start, without Collins and Smith in the line-up against the number 1 ranked defense in the league, with a weeks worth of practice, already looking better than Dak did or does. I mean with Zach Martin in the line-up, the blocking was somewhat adequate as well, meaning ZM is the GOAT. Dak didn't play a SINGLE GAME without Zach Martin in the line-up and with Gilbert, you already saw the impact he has, even with DeNucci. Steele is straight up trash though I must say.

We wasted five years for the Dak experiment, including tailoring the whole offense to him, and his best year was his first year as a game manager period. with all-pro blocking from every respect. That was the POINT...

Just wait until Andy Dalton gets to play with Martin in the line-up...

Dalton will do exactly what he did the last time he played. Nothing. Martin or no Martin. You people are delusional.

He was fine.. Gave him a little protection and he got a similar result to Dak..

Getting a rookie on a cheap deal is the way forward.. Look how many stud QBs there are in the league right now on rookie deals. Go get one. It’s easier than ever to find quality QBs.

People act like Dak wasn't playing five years in an offense consistently tweaked for him with Frederick, Collins, Zach Martin and Smith in the line-up the majority of his career here. I remember when Smith went down in the Atlanta game and Dak in YEAR 2 in the offense, hung up a whopping 7 points and couldn't even put up double-digits against any winning team, while struggling against the bottom dwellers and all his fan-boys were blaming everybody but Dak for all his struggles.

And the only guy Gilbert actually played with was Martin and this man put up 19 against the best defense in the league, without even a training camp to work with.

Giving up on Dalton already?

Nothing to give up on. Dalton was brought in as a veteran, to run the offense, for a short period of time, in the event Dak wasn't able to play. And considering Dak's durability over his first 4 years, I'm inclined to believe it was more in case Dak got the Covid, rather than an injury. Wasn't intended to be a permanent backup, or someone to play half a season or more, just a stop gap until DeNucci got more time with the team.

Doubt he was going to be back next year even if Dak got hurt.

Imo, of course...

After almost losing the lead Dak had gotten us? yeah I remember.

And still won, despite all of Dak’s TOs... You know the same Dak who always blows in the last few minutes down by seven...

How many games did Dak win with Martin in the line-up, outside the Atlanta game that every team in the league came back in the fourth against? Oh that’s right, a big-fat whopping ZERO..
